You could use some of the scrap trim you're decluttering to make brackets attached to the floor joists above your head, and store the trim pieces you're keeping there. That way the wood is less likely to warp.
Omg you two are so patient with each other, we would have had a fight by half way through and my husband saying no to any wood going "you always need it" he says
My husband used to hold a lot tighter to things! He would save coffee cans...lots of them...and I would toss them!! 🤨 But alas, he would prefer to live in the city so I remind him that if God makes that happen we won't have a basement!! Motivation!! 🤭😎😅
We did another sweep out looking for any points of entry or evidence of a mouse. Garage was clear fortunately but the cat kept looking under the stove which I move and sweep under daily now. We have our spare tires stacked Then extra paper goods, then our packaging and shipping table. On the kitchen door wall is a Husky metal rack with ten matching bins, next is a Costco unit on wheels. Painting , electric, and plumbing supplies on two shelves. the other four shelves are household supplies such as Mrs. Meyers Backup Laundry Soap. Batteries, Lightbulbs, vinegar and baking soda. On the other wall Hubs has a rack for our brooms, mops, Swifter . Then a crate of auto supplies. I check it out every day as I come into the house through the garage. TY. for listening to all my comments💌
Gleaned some donations from sons and have some exchanges, and returns to make from a Costco and Scheels trip. They badly needed a wardrobe refresh! We have a start on some direct seeding but will have to wait another week to do more. Just running wash this evening, the men are on their own for dinner. They will burn some slash to night. I have added some papers that were going to be shredded for the fire pit.
Karen you & Robin did a great job! When my hubby & I go through our stored items like you did today, he is usually saying toss it, I say but what if we NEED it? 😁😂 We have gotten rid of tons of stuff over the years but it just accumulates when you aren’t looking. 😁 Anyhoo, I can’t wait to see the rest of this SERIES! Thank you both for providing such great motivation and inspiration to clean out the clutter. Have a wonderful blessed week! ❤❤
Boy oh boy can I relate to this! It's where I'm at and have been for a long time, but have gradually been able to get a lot gone. Years old business paperwork, tools for several crews, electrical stuff, nuts, bolts, etc...etc...Down to odds and ends of leftovers and temporary use stuff...Saved stuff that should have been tossed at the time because it was actually broken...Husband was a builder and I think inherited a gene from his dad for "just in case" stuff! I dearly love your basement declutter videos.
Yes!! Decluttering happens in layers for me. I start easy and as I go I am able to get rid of more and more! We won’t give up! Thanks for the encouragement, Pat! I am so glad you are enjoying the videos! 💐💐
Magnificent job, both of you! It can be overwhelming, hour's of decision making and physically making it happen. Our yard needed a good sorting out recently and our sheds one at a time. I was ruthless with Justin Case, and referred to unfinished projects with having good intentions of completing them, hubby joined in. Feeling a lot better and liking where it's at with that I know by now, this long in the tooth........ it's ongoing. Hope you both had a good rest!
love your new hair length Karen. i too have said goodbye to my locks. so much easier and manageable. what a team you and Robin are. thank you for sharing. 🤓❤️🇬🇧💐
My husband wants to keep everything, so I would not be able to do this with him. Even if it's damaged beyond usage it can never go. I think I can safely say he's kind of a hoarder.
Nice job! I empathize with the drum set! We had our sons' for 20+ years! Moving it all over the basement. Finally my husband posted it and was sold to a drum teacher who picked up sets for his students at a lower price. I tried to find schools that I could donate it to, but no luck on that.
You could take the pieces of wood/trim /siding and store in the ceiling so it is out of your way but still accessible. Could you also get C hooks to store the bikes from the ceiling joists in the winter so they are off the floor but stored in that corner to the left of bulkhead exit door? Maybe even store kayaks from Ceiling too?
Great job, you two! I really dislike when I have to move things to get to other things I need. It's become less so with decluttering but I'm still working on it in some storage areas!
Karen did you cut your hair? Looks great! I did think it was funny how you wanted to keep some things your husband would have decluttered. Also loved how he is so totally onboard now!❤ Can't wait till you do the tools and nuts and bolts. Interested in your husbands thought process on what stays and what goes. Need to encourage my husband!
Dust storm just blew down the canyon! I had just finished spring cleaning the windows and washing the cars!!!! Son will be staying with us two weekends a month . He job requires him to work two weeks then a long weekend then flies him home. He has relocated here since it will cut his flight time by two thirds and will not longer have to rent big money. This way he will save for a house of his own. All his worldly belongings were transported in his car by a trucking company. I washed and organized all. He is ADHD so Visible and accessible is important. I put in a simple Elfa system for him, new bed and bedding so all awaits. It is simple, practical, and manly. Hubs has repromised me to get his bins out of the garage.
Hellooo Karen, you may not have got to the tools yet but my goodness what progress! I felt your pain needing to move the drums, it’s like that at times, to get to this we need to move that, but that needs to have a designated area, currently that area has something else it it…. And so on and so on. Still you definitely made progress, good for you! Your hair looks shorter, did you get it trimmed? We’re going through bathroom remodel, it’s been a nightmare 😤 water finds the it’s way everywhere it shouldn’t. I’ll be so relieved when the guys have finished, so much dust and mess😮 Anyhow, as always my lovely, much love and light to you.🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love your haircut! Home depot / Lowes will take returns ... just try it! They give store cresit. Maybe use the beadboard ro close up the wall with siding?
@@ThisMainerMom I was thinking the same thing- use the shower ceiling panel or bead board pieces to put on the partial wall with exposed insulation. Since it’s in the storage area of the basement it could be painted or left plain. Either way it would cover the insulation. Just a thought. 🤔😊
That wall of insulation, can you put up some of that building stuff up to cover it? Make it a finished wall. Maybe the leftover from the bathroom shower.
Great job you two! I would recommend labeling the building materials so you know what you were planning on using them for and maybe even the to do item such as "check to see if this fits/matches here otherwise donate "
Random: I love your nail colour. And you already know: I love videos whrere Robin is joining you! And since you didn´t get everything done - there will be more! Yeah! 😂 Hugs! 💕🌷💕
I was on a cruise with my sisters! ♥ Hopefully I will have a video back up within 3 days and then back to my normal schedule!! Thanks for checking in!!

Great ideas! Thanks for sharing as always!! ❤️
Use that sheet of sheet rock on that one wall with insulation.
Good point!! One of those “why didn’t I think of that moments!! 😂
I love the love your husband shows to you with patience. I love the respect you show your husband in the same way. Great example of a Godly union. ❤
He's a good guy! Thanks for the encouragement, Laura!! 💐
Whaaa? I’m hearing your words come out of Robin’s mouth. Well done.
I know!! I never completely noticed until the edits!! Crazy but awesome!! He really is getting those decluttering muscles working!! 💪💖
So great when Robin declutters! This is a dream of mine to have my husband join in on the decluttering journey. I can only hope for someday...
I never thought it would happen! Don’t give up! 💞💞
Omg you two are so patient with each other, we would have had a fight by half way through and my husband saying no to any wood going "you always need it" he says
Your husband & mine could b brothers 😂😂😂😂
Love that!!

I have finally learned to donate. If your son said they can go, let them go. Forsake.Stuff.Shifting.
Great point, friend!! 🙏
Thanks for the encouragement and for weighing in with your vote, Elizabeth!! 💗

I love all your comments!! I love to hear what others are doing as much as you all love watching!! 😍
I would appreciate a series of videos of your husband decluttering.. Might help to motivate mine😁😁...
Great idea!! 😍
Y'all worked so well together! A sense of humor goes a long way to making a tedious task manageable--it IS the way Mr. Mainer/Mandalorian! 🤣
He loves that show!! Thank you and I will tell him what you said!! 😂😂

Well done Robin, I know how hard it is to declutter building materials and you did such a great job.
He did, didn't he? 🥰

Wow, that pile took forever, I just go out in a foul mood and I’m ruthless, the only thing I have is flooring pieces in case of repairs!
Yea, I wasn’t exactly ruthless, was I?! 🤨😃❤️
So much free space now!!🎉
Yes! I love it! 😃
Hope you come up with a great donation spot for the drum kit. It could help a school or someone with a child with skills that can't afford a kit.❤
Great idea!! Someone local saw the video so we found a home for them! I am very excited about it! 💞🌸💞
Can't u hang wood pieces from the ceiling closest to the outer wall. Great job. Drums we donated to our local school
