Love this tool, but the string trimmer is still king when it comes to the edge of fence lines.

Dont run a weed eater full blaast against a tree. You can tap the throttle and basically lightly slap/pinch the grass against the tree. Without damaging it.

One big disadvantage of the string trimmer is its string though. You are essentially dispensing fine particles of plastic all over your yard.

No you have to whip the trees they grow better when you tell them to grow better.

I like to take my guard off, throw it in the trash and use like 6-10 inches of line when I’m up against things I don’t want to damage. I can trim against a inflatable pool without damage. Try it sometime

This may work for me. I have grass right up to my pool. I have to be so careful constantly in not hitting the pool. Going to give it a try. It may not be perfect but better that hitting a pool with a trimmer.

TIP: Trim your bushes first. Trim your edges before you mow. Then the mower can clean up the loose stuff.

Thats what the guard is for. Replace your guard and then you can use string at high speed. To get the last bit, pulse the string. You can do fences too.

I always trim first then blow everything into the field. The last thing I do is mow which sucks every thing up. I do keep a string trimmer around because the rotary scissors don’t do well against uneven surfaces like retaining wall blocks.

Absolute nonsense. I've been doing this for years. I never hit a tree. Nothing to do with eyesight. You don't have to see the wire in order to know how long your reach is. If you hit anything you're not suppose to hit with a stringtrimmer, find another job.

Also you're not harming the tree at all. If trees were that weak and vulnerable, they'd all be dead
