I've been playing the game for a while now and thought I would know most of what was in this video, and then we get to the water/fluid pipe section and I was like "waaaaaaaah???" Thanks for the tips!
For the store vs other buildings radius, I think it may be that the stores have to be connected by road, which is why you see a difference when hovering with placement
That one scenario where you had that giant desert and some partial train tracks in order to haul x amount of crap to the other side of the island..... Since I hate trains, II instead used a bunch of boats to haul all of the required crap around the outer sea and offloaded it. Let me tell you that moving a fleet of 10+ boats is like herding cats. if you tell all of the boats to move to point A to point B , about half will go anywhere any direction but point B. Was so funny I just went with it, better than using trains.
I bought this game a year ago and didn't try it till today or so, i wasn't expecting to have to run to youtube to learn some things. Looks can be deceiving and I really didn't expect this to basically be cartoon factorio. what a deep game.
Tiny apartment blocks for an urban center! Who knew? Not me. The market AoE info is worth the watch all on its own. It took too long for that to make sense while learning the game and having all that connection UI on screen--AoE circles, the ground boxes, the roads themselves. I kind of wish the linking aspects of the game had been simplified a bit. It's fine in the end, just not intuitive (at least for me). Having fought through 7 campaigns of belt logistics, a compact double-decker belt is amazing. It might be "cheating," but one could say the same thing about building the unsupported sky rails/chutes etc--without which I'm not sure the game would work at all. When we upgrade the barn? Wait, when we what? **SIGHS** I'm an idiot. Ctrl-Click -- Neat!
Amazing, this solves some of the most annoying issues which made me stop playing. There is a lot fucntionality, just not really explained well in-game. Hope it gets polished eventually, the game deserves it! :)
My first big play-through, i made this mistake : I had all houses in 1 city and had different towns with speciality selling everything in main house city... Super effective for happiness. U actually need houses in all town centers to gain the 100% speciality bonus, without houses it only gives 20%.. amount of houses depends on what speciality.. super unclear how many.
Yeah, you need level 5 center for some of the policies, and level 10 for others, to max the 100% bonuses. I usually settle for level 5 centers for most places either way, because that's way easier to reach than 6,7,8, etc.
2:33 "This circle has nothing to do with range if connected to the town center." This isn't quite true. It is true relative to houses in the radius of the town center. However, houses outside town center aoe are still included in aoe of a market.
Well. True. But how often would you want houses that you sell items to that aren't connected to your TC? I guess I didn't mention that because it seemed pretty obvious and not very important, at least in my experience so far.
@@Krydax8 Probably not often used, but it would let you sell to a new town that doesn't have a TC yet, or houses where you were waiting to expand to. It's not a common use for sure.

5 minutes into the video and you already taught me much. I'm at Campaign 6 right now, and you have no idea how annoyed I was with few mechanics.
