Hey, Stet, man. I've been watching your channel way before I subscribed. If you're no longer feeling fulfilled with the mowing and you have a desire to do something else, especially since you have an idea of what it is that you want to do, I say make that move, bro!! You started your mowing career as just a kid and became successful at it. You're still a (fearless) young man, I KNOW that you can do it! Consult with the "man upstairs" and go for it!!
Get a crew going. Shouldve years ago. If you can’t get reliable help, ask yourself if your pay is competitive with other companies. The lawn care side can help feed the other parts of the business such as selling landscape jobs or skid work.
I already stopped my business was not doing well tired of spending almost all the money I'm making just to keep it alive and still having to go to a 9-5 job in the winter (can't get enough profitable winter work in Guthrie) I'm a little sad to not do it no more but I realized I either need to rely on mowing to keep the whole year's bills paid (comfortably) or not do it at all...especially being 23, single, and no kids I don't wanna have to have 2 jobs and I don't wanna put so much time and money into maintenance and repairs
I agree my friend In Florida prices are soo low it almost impossible to be profitable every year prices don't go up they go down every thing else goes up
Something I want to share.. today I saw a father (40s and his 12 yr old son) passing out door hangers. Chasing a dream that we all have. Just understand what you'll be giving up. People work their whole lives trying to have the stuff you have. I do understand chasing new dreams though as well. 👍🏻
You've got a good head on your shoulders, so you'll do fine. With the support of your girl, family & friends you could do anything. Take the real estate with caution, don't trust Tic-Tok 😉. I'll be watching, and wish you the best 👍👍
If don't it, you will always regret it. Nice to follow you from your first video and driving that yota from yard to yard to see you grow into a successful businessman. You have your whole life to try new things. Enjoy it while you are able to do them.
Hey Stet, Everyone has their ups and downs with work, its very natural. There is nothing wrong doing the same type of job for years and years. Dont let that ''you have to change jobs every 5 or so years illusion'' sway your thinking. Follow your heart bro, it will show you the way. Always nice watching your videos, thanks for sharing. Take care my man.
The thought of not mowing for me scares me to death. More power to you for following your other dreams. I think you are still young so shifting gears now makes sense.
Landscaping is tough on your body as well. Take the easy route and get into fertilization and treatments. It’s just a few classes and you’re off to the races. My neighbor does it and you can tell he makes really good money. He’s had a couple full-time guys for years.they stay slammed. I think it’s just easier on your body and it pays a lot better. From what I can tell in the lawn care business having a really busy fertilization/treatment business seems to be the premium way to go
Stet, I would 100% totally help you with your mowing crew!!! Only problem is that I'm 3 states west from Moore OK😢 I dont know about you, but that's a pretty long commute for daily work😅 All I have to say is follow your heart and just go for it! If it feels right, it's most likely the best option!
Man you do you you know what’s best for you and as good as you’ve done with your lawn business you can build another business hopefully you’ll make videos in this next journey be cool to watch you grow again definitely out doing me
You need to do what's best for you Dreams don't happen unless you take the leap have faith in yourself man I belive in you will defo miss the mowing content I'm gutted I live in the UK I would 100% buy your 32 wright mower Been saving for a couple of years for a stand on but due to my partner falling ill work has slowed down a lot and unaffordable now Keep your chin up if your feeling low just pause for a minute and look back at everything you have and what you have become and remind yourself with out your hard graft and dedication your wouldn't have it be proud of your self and never be scared to take a risk or the next step
Love your channel...long time viewer... They say statistically that most people only regret what they DIDN'T DO (or try) during their lifetime... most people stay with a sure thing. But you are young, live for your dreams!!! I assure you those of us that are older wish we could go back and make different life choices. Also, it's nice seeing Jackson again!! Happy Spring!
hopefully you find someone who would buy the lawns, as its hard to sell because theres no guarantee the customers stay. I did tractor work for a while, and the biggest complaint customers had was they could not find someone who would show up when they said, that's where I came in, and did well.
You don't have to answer to anyone but yourself. Besides, your eyes already show the answer to that question. You are asking the right person for advice, and if you feel the answer as a warm comfortable feeling coming over you, then He's given you His answer already. You will do well no matter what endeavor or route decide to go on. You're a hard worker, but also a good man, it's a winning combo. Start looking for that Skid Steer and start making your plan for a change over. You may even want to put some feelers out to see who may be interested in taking over your business. I think if you start to initiate at least something, then you're already on the path to change. The thing we sometimes lack is confidence in making change, but every successful person has and will go through the feelings that you feel. Wish you the best, until next time. 😀😀
I just moved from a bermuda grass heavy area in the north Atlanta suburbs. Won't be doing any more scalps because I'm now in a cool season grass market. Neat to see you doing the scalp. It surely does have to be done every year. It took me a couple of years to convince my clients of it. How do you charge for the scalp on those properties? Double or more a regular service visit? Mine was usually double or more. I know that it kinda depends on how long the turf was left at the end of the growing season.
Hey man, I know exactly how you're feeling because the same thing happened to me. I'm 22 and owned a landscaping company for 2 and a half years. Just like you, I got to a point where I was questioning if it was something I wanted to keep doing. We were doing well business wise, but just all of the stress of owning a business, some of the customers we were dealing with, it all weighed down on me one day and I sat there and thought it out. I just sold my business back in October and it's hard at the start because your family and friends see a young person owning a business and thinks it's so cool and they don't understand why you're selling when you're doing well, but it's about doing what's best for yourself. The best thing for me was going back to working a "normal" job. Sure, it's not as exciting as landscaping but I have absolutely no stress now and benefits, I get to leave work at work. I'm saving more money working for someone else, I'm hoping to buy my first piece of real estate by 30. I started watching your channel before I started my business, it was what motivated me to begin my company. It was a great part of my life and I have no regrets. I know you'll figure your stuff out and I wish you nothing but the best! I'll still be watching all the videos no matter what you do!
Super interesting to hear your new ideas of where you want to take the business! Super old subscriber here who looks forward to seeing whatever adventures you get into! Hyped for the skid steer no matter if it’s the mini one or the full sized! Sounds dope!
Hi from arkansas Love your videos man keep your head up and keep grinding I mow yards too and I'm solo for the 4th year now and do about 80 yards n I suffer from gout to sometimes I get down but I get up and grind harder I also wanted to see what's that app u use to give a customer a sample a stone job
Brother I'm in the same boat I've been doing this for about 4 yrs now going into this season and I'm not in the best position of where I want to be but I ask the Lord for help and guidance, I've had multiple customers say that they can see my business doing great in the future so idk, one things for sure is that I love being independent and not working for someone about me.
Real estate is not always a guarantee things how long are you preparing to sit on a house till it sells landscape might be a better choice but if your customer are happy with your service they. Might not with whoever you sell the business to
I understand how you feel and you seem wise beyond your years. My 2 cents, for what that is worth and if anyone is offended so be it, wait until the Presidential election before you make life changing decisions. If things stay the status quo, this economy might start diving off a cliff and money everywhere will be tight. If things change, it might spur a growth in the economy where getting enough work will be no worry at all. Keep reaching for the stars young man and I will be watching to see how your journey goes.
Have you ever thought of getting into excavating work? You would need a small bulldozer, backhoe, and dump truck. Also a trailer to haul the dozer and backhoe on.
The industry to jump into with outdoor services is Snow (if you get it), landscaping, and the top one... HARDSCAPE! Huge industry and only a few do it. The jump to the next level in outdoor service providers is always when you get into the hardscape and primary landscaping.
Don't throw the baby out with the bath water! Hire someone this year as your assistant. Train him the way you want with the idea that next year he can run your lawn care while you persue other things. You will have a larger payroll, but you are still bringing in the ca$h. What you want to do is great, but it may take time, and added expenses. At least you will have a steady income. Remember half a loaf is better than no loaf at all. Cheers!
since im not up north. why do you scalp again this time of year when you scalped them right before winter? ive got a commercial prop with some steep sides. will be letting it go after this month. just to much to deal with and has to be pushed mowed in those areas and takes to long. what design software you using? have a referral link for it? landscape can make you big money but its not constant like mowing but you gotta do where your heart goes man.

Thanks brother, I appreciate those kind words. I gotta take a leap of faith!
Im so glad you put your infamous music back in the mowing part
👍 I'm with you on that.
Get a crew going. Shouldve years ago. If you can’t get reliable help, ask yourself if your pay is competitive with other companies. The lawn care side can help feed the other parts of the business such as selling landscape jobs or skid work.

you are so right there are plenty of opportunities out there besides mowing and I think being a real-estate is a way to go. 👍
You need to do what's best for you

U should gets a shindaiwa multi tool split shaft trimmer or just a trimmer and blower from them
Testing the waters with a mini skid steer and/or mini excavator from CHINA.... would be a VERY smart business move!
Have you ever thought of getting into excavating work? You would need a small bulldozer, backhoe, and dump truck. Also a trailer to haul the dozer and backhoe on.

let me know if you sell your mowers🤣 i live in the moore oklahoma area and have a lawn care business
since im not up north. why do you scalp again this time of year when you scalped them right before winter? ive got a commercial prop with some steep sides. will be letting it go after this month. just to much to deal with and has to be pushed mowed in those areas and takes to long. what design software you using? have a referral link for it? landscape can make you big money but its not constant like mowing but you gotta do where your heart goes man.
We only scalp in spring. Basically our version of dethatching
@@stetslawncare ahh okay.. makes sence
👍👍👍👍 👍👍👍👍👍👍
What exactly is scalping?
Cutting low and bagging the grass to give grass a fresh layer to grow through in the spring. Its what we do to Bermuda grass
When will you let your clients know this may be your last year?
Probably at the end of the season if i decide to sell
What setting you scalp on with the commercial Hondas? Lowest it will go? I scalp my Bermuda yards 1 setting above the lowest setting.
I do the same setting. 1 above the lowest
u still doing real estate
Yes eventually
avoid those chinese skid steers,
