    i dont know what one would be better - it depends on exatly what kind of look you want. they are both VERY concentrated colors. pigment is better for mixing in with a medium and painting a large surface. dye is better for soaking into a medium. are you wanting to mix with resin or use almost as a paint? if you want to resin over a photo, with colored resin - i would use dye - it can be more transparent and easier to control for this.

    Question: I'm looking for a cheap way to turn WHITE texture paint into grey or red. What kind of dye or pigment can you mix in with paint. I dont want to dilute the TEXTURE.....just the color. Thanks!!!!

    I do not understand how people say dye ink is better then. With all shown, the pigment is more water proof, it is more solid, it does't sip into material to colour bleed.
    Why are dye inks regarded more vibrant?

    this video was specific to inks and dye to mix with epoxy resin. BUT i do think that all dyes are very similar, and one big thing I have discovered - ALL DYES FADE... which is fine, but pigments hold color much much longer. t-shirt inks are not really my specialty so sorry I don't have much info for you.

    quick ? idk if u know anything about jordans well i got a pair of jordan 6 carmine they have a blue translucent outsole and i tried to dye they with red tiy dyr but instead of making the sole red the tinted blue sole that it is mixed with the red dye and it made it look purpel instead of red if i use red pigment would it make my sole red ?

    • @RaisingCreativity
      @RaisingCreativity  10 років тому

      yo. dye would soak into the shoe material the best... pigment would paint on the surface more - but would look redder. maybe look into some fabric paint! (there is such a thing!)

    So pigment covers better than dye?

    • @RaisingCreativity
      @RaisingCreativity  10 років тому

      ya - and the color lasts longer. i am surprised at how much the dye faded over time...

      I'm buying a brush pen for calligraphy. Do you think there's any significant difference between Pigment and Dye when they're used not for covering but writing?
      _These two are essentially the same pens (same, medium tip) with different inks._

    Hey thanks for the video was looking for something nice and clear like this!
    Have you tried printing pigment only on plastics without any mix of resin. I've already tried dye and it wipes right off. Pigment seems more like a paint then ink so I'm hoping it would stick, let me know if you've tried it or anyone else.. Thanks.

    • @RaisingCreativity

      ya this should work - probably overkill thought - it is like a very intense acrylic paint... super concentrated! maybe overkill for what you want.
