The beat really defines this song. New York was just a different city, everyone loves to visit, but to live there, and grow up there, especially in that certain area, with the music and everything, it was truly something special, sounds that just cannot easily be replicated these days. I love this song!
I grew up in valley stream, my middle & high school years were 91-97 & no doubt music like this had an influence on me & my friends. Nothing these days comes close
One of my favorite hip hop videos of all time.. hockey jerseys - goose jackets - skullys - timbs. Winter was the best season to put some fly shit on fr.
Yo what's up with the NY young cats Makin all that wack dancin drill music? Why the fuck didn't NYC OGs school the younger generations on yall tradition.. Shit is sad. Mad props to all real NY heads .
@@agniforma2340 It ain’t what it used to be. Greed, fame, and money makes a lot of people do funny things, which is why the music industry is what it is now.
@@agniforma2340 Peace! I can easily answer that question! NYC hip-hop is heavily based on sampling jazz & James Brown beaks..You have to understand there was so much musical 🎶 industry; assassination of sampling. Many notable artists got intertwined in real legal issues! Many people don’t know that an artist or group can literally face jail time for SAMPLING! I personally know an old producer from North Jersey! Jay-Z even sampled m; his old group Con-Funkshun. The elder told me that Jay is still paying him to this day. So it can really be expensive; to make a NYC style pure hip-hop album.
+DJ Archive back then the remixes were usually the version to blow artist up. They were in most instances far better than the LP versions. Wake Up- Brand Nubian, Bonita Applebum- ATCQ, You're All I Need- Meth & Mary J, Buddy- Dela Soul etc just to name a few of many..
I have met Buckshot and seen Black Moon live in NYC over a dozen times. The first time I saw this play on Video Music Box in the 90s it was like a Beatles on Ed Sullivan moment. I was instantly a fan. Buck puts in work every time he hits the stage and you will never be disappointed. Evil Dee is one of the most underrated producers in the history of the game. There is a pride you feel in your heart when you hear Black Moon, Tribe or Mobb Deep. Those times were the pinnacle of life in New York City.
Facts when I was a little Kid I always wanted to meet Buckshot remember when all this shit was out . But I never got chance he always seemed pretty cool.

I first discovered this song sophomore year in 2010, already a classic at the time. It was transformative. So smooth, such grime. Perfect winter beat. Crazy that was even 10 years ago... at least when you pull up at an intersection now and bump the real stuff. Real headz will glance over and just nod in appreciation
I'm all for these new kids learning what real Hip-Hop was. Truth be told you had to be a part of that era. I was 15 years old in 1994. I pretty much grew up with Hip-Hop. I'm 36 now and when I watch these videos it takes me back to a place. I grew up poor but all I really had was the music to zone out to. I use to run home from school to record music videos on watching Rap City with Joe Clair and Big Lez. These new kids wouldn't understand if I explained it to them. Rappers couldn't sound the same back then. Onyx couldn't sound like Wu-Tang. OGC/Black Moon couldn't sound like Pete Rock and CL Smooth. This is what makes my generation of music so timeless. I really miss that part of Hip-Hop.
The memories that come along with this song. New York and Newark, having fun hanging out with a couple good fellas, being responsibly immature, never reckless, glad to have come out on the other side where I stand today. I know many that did not.
Huge Nostalgia pains in my chest when I hear this song. Probably one of the best hip hop tracks ever. The music video is amazing too. I love the slow motion feel and tone of it. Love Buckshots voice like glitter over the music. Definitly the peak of Hip Hop.
Real MC heads fuck with and appreciate these type of joints I'm from Louisiana and was bumpin this after school heavy in the 90s nostalgia just listening to this track again.
Yes, dope lyrics, flow, rhyming, beat and production, and clothes. But is anyone not going to talk about how ahead of time this video was for 1993?!?! It's insane how everything is so damn perfect.
When that video channel The Box used to be out(I know only old heads know about that). The first time I saw this on there I waited till they played it again, and recorded it. I can't tell you how many times I watched it. Even after it wasn't a hit. Plus when I discovered UA-cam years later this was one of the first videos I came looking for.
Bay Area teen in the 90’s, had my share of Wu-Tang, Nas, Mobb & Tribe CD’s … Noreaga & Camp Lo … I remember this was the #1 video on some type of hip hop countdown show, and man I LOVED this when it dropped. Been sprinkling it in the rotation ever since, 30 years and counting.
I was a teenager back when this came out, this was a great time for hip hop....good beats, rythmaatic flow, cleaver lyrics and real dj's with techniques 1200's , 2 or 4 channel mixer, crates of records and the ability scratch, mix and ... 90's hip hop was the peak of the wave for talent based music. Still have some blackmoon on wax from my days as a dj! Now I'm in my 40's and often listen to stuff like this because these are resl MC's with real DJ's....much respect and Long live REAL hip hop

93/94 my years... Incredible time...

Calvin L. Stevens 95 was the BEST .
NuTown Don Williams um, from 97-02 was a dope era too!!!
NuTown Don Williams so true

umm, FACTS lol
Gregory Netus No doubt! Cassette on deck!
iveywebb
Gregory Netus I remember throwing up from private stock 40oz's when I was 14 and this in background. boot camp made classics.
The beat really defines this song. New York was just a different city, everyone loves to visit, but to live there, and grow up there, especially in that certain area, with the music and everything, it was truly something special, sounds that just cannot easily be replicated these days. I love this song!
Yeah the sound of gunshots peeps getting robbed crack everywhere your living a lie, the music was amazing though
I grew up in valley stream, my middle & high school years were 91-97 & no doubt music like this had an influence on me & my friends. Nothing these days comes close
Damn I remember when those hockey jerseys were in hip hop style! Shyt brings me back.
nost and bedford for me FACT fam
Big influence we started wearing Tim's and sweatpants here in KY cause of New York times and shorts
One of my favorite hip hop videos of all time.. hockey jerseys - goose jackets - skullys - timbs. Winter was the best season to put some fly shit on fr.
I remember waiting for this song to get played on the radio so I could record it on a blank tape!
Yo mtv raps! for me with a cassette in the VCR ready to record.
I JUST RECORDED IT ON THE BOX!!!...REPLAYED IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN

That true NYC sound. We had it on lock down.
@Mr_promaater there's alot of underground from the town of ill rappers still. Look up Rome Streetz, Dot Demo, Roc Marciano, Bub Styles, Envy Caine.
Proper hip hop
Perfect beat
Perfect flows
Perfect lyrics
True hip-hop. I want it back so bad.
True indeed
Uh, We all do. Smh.
Saddest thing is it won't come back
@@andrewbuchanan3849 yup!

Nah the album version was 10x harder. This is pretty smooth by comparison
i mean the lyrics were kinda hard but i would describe this as a "smooth" song. i can chill and relax or dance to this

I gotta agree, the early 90's was def when hip hop was at its best, no question.
Amen to that
92-96 my friend 93 was the greatest.
Late 80s is up there too. Rakim, BDK, EPMD, RUNDMC, LL, Slick Rick, NWA.

Nelson B Exactly. Not one bit of tacky Gucci in sight!
hockey jerseys
I thought everybody was Coppin champion shirts?
I am sure it was all original, made in the U.S.... now all made in Chaina.
Very lucky
This album, 36 chambers, and Illmatic are the basis of real hip hop… the golden era. Legendary times
this version should have been on the album..
this is why 12"s were bought... to get remixes!
Flava in ya Ear, where an unknown rapper named Notorious BIG was on it.
Mar 21 7? Rocks also remix singles were used to generate extra $$$
The version on the LP went hard. That bass line was hell
Today's music ain't nuffin but fakeness the 90s was and will always be the golden age of hip-hop

Yeah man till infinity
I have met Buckshot and seen Black Moon live in NYC over a dozen times. The first time I saw this play on Video Music Box in the 90s it was like a Beatles on Ed Sullivan moment. I was instantly a fan. Buck puts in work every time he hits the stage and you will never be disappointed. Evil Dee is one of the most underrated producers in the history of the game. There is a pride you feel in your heart when you hear Black Moon, Tribe or Mobb Deep. Those times were the pinnacle of life in New York City.
Well said my brother
Facts when I was a little Kid I always wanted to meet Buckshot remember when all this shit was out . But I never got chance he always seemed pretty cool.
Most kids these days can't relate to real lyrics and a smooth ass beat like this
Plain Jane You say that yet your name is plain Jane, an ASAP Ferg song...
Prathyush Miyala You should shut your mouth and listen or get out.... ASAP

This is what we call the golden area of hip hop. Listen to the flow and evil D on the wheels you will see why!
I aways come back to this era of music!!! This rap at its purest uncut form
I swear this song makes me cry... miss those days
“You can fool the rest but ya can’t fool me.
See the BEST school me.
For the simple fact it’s the G-O-D”
🙌🏾🔥
So glad i was alive for this era of hip hop man, best ever. Teenager around this time this came out...
The memories that come along with this song. New York and Newark, having fun hanging out with a couple good fellas, being responsibly immature, never reckless, glad to have come out on the other side where I stand today. I know many that did not.
jazzin nash i feel u, respect. 136th & B'way puree all day.
Huge Nostalgia pains in my chest when I hear this song. Probably one of the best hip hop tracks ever. The music video is amazing too. I love the slow motion feel and tone of it. Love Buckshots voice like glitter over the music.
Definitly the peak of Hip Hop.
To say this is a classic is an EXTREME understatement
Real MC heads fuck with and appreciate these type of joints I'm from Louisiana and was bumpin this after school heavy in the 90s nostalgia just listening to this track again.
BLACK MOON WAS MAD KOOL...LOVE THIS JAWN!!....STILL PUMP IT LOUD!
Sis hearing you in ATL BY WAY OF VINELAND....WALLY...

Like all rap like all old school rap like all hip-hop like all 90s-80s
This was a game changer for me
Big facts. I swear the vibe of this video end the music Inspire The World is Yours by Nas
Buck is truly one of the most underrated emcees who ever graced the stage.
2pac shouted him out
Not really. Like half of Boot Camp Click alone is way better than he is. Sorry?
@@kevlar1482 In terms of consistency, he's under Sean Price. But the production on most of his albums are much more cleaner than the other members.
How I miss this Era 😭 😢 😔 😪
This is real hip hop music 🎶 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes, dope lyrics, flow, rhyming, beat and production, and clothes.
But is anyone not going to talk about how ahead of time this video was for 1993?!?!
It's insane how everything is so damn perfect.
Absolute perfection!
👌 the box was the bomb for original hip hop!
+setondriveable Yeah but when the box kept playing BS. Gawd did it piss me off!
yea the box was awesome back then...
I miss the box!
Video Music Box!
Dopest remix off this classic album.
My favorite track by Black Moon ever
Damn man..music is a fn time machine for me. I hear a song and instantly go back to different things I was doing while these tunes were in the background. The true definition of soundtrack to my life. I hope you're doing well Buckshot! I hope whomever is ready this is doing well too🙏🏾
