Handicap fine should be 2000$
The Fines in Perth, Western Australia for disabled parking-bay offence is AUD$2,000.00 (Two thousand Australian dollars). **In Russia, the offender's car is picked up with a Grapple Machine and CRUSHED into a Skip Bin on a Flat Top Truck, in full view of the public.** I live in Perth
Put up a sign that says $1000 fine, that will grab their attention.
Anyone who doesn't get pissed isn't paying taxes.
In VA where I live, if a driver has an expired/fake handicap placard, your vehicle gets towed automatically, $250 fine and 1 point on your driving record!
This is a great idea.
Just because you can't see someone's handicap, doesn't mean they are abusing it.

@@87clits some of us with disabilities have brain fog which means we might sometimes forget to put the placard up. You can't drive with it on, and I wish they had something else that you didn't have to remember to put on everytime

@@Tat2Dragons are you handicapped? Because as someone who has an undiagnosed chronic illness which forces me to use a powerchair, I can't get the plates - only the placard. Others are also in the same position
Michelle Swanson That doesn’t make sense, because obviously if you’re disabled enough to be issued a handicapped parking placard, there should be no reason why you can’t be issued handicapped license plates for your vehicle. In some States you can be issued both the placard and license plates.

They know they are wrong, they just don't care! And FYI police don't do shit about the problem, especially on private prep property. I was at the Walmart in Lakeside, couldn't park in a handicap spot because two were taken up by people with no placard, so I went to the cop sitting in the parking lot. I was told that the business had to call to get any type of legal action (ticket) against the two offenders. He said he had better things to do, like sitting in his car giving ridiculous tickets for going 3 miles over the speed limit. Try a story on the lack of police action.
I parked in the handicapped, an asshole squeezed his/her car into the space I had left for the driver's door to open so I couldn't get into my car. The cops would do nothing as it was private property.

@@Tat2Dragons When you are handicapped you can tell us how you found out that it really does happen. I sat outside of a grocery store for an hour because someone blocked me from my wheelchair ramp by parking in the stripped HC zone. That is only one of many stories that are true just for me...then multiply it by all of the other handicapped people there are who have had similar experiences.

The new signs highlight visible, physical, disability. They're going to cause problems for people who need handicapped parking but don't look handicapped.
I agree. I have chronic pain due to an autoimmune condition but I'm also High Functioning Autistic. As of December last year, I got my driver's permit after 13 years of being seizure free but because of the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, I haven't been able to get out and practice driving. I also live in Oregon which has a fair amount of services for people with disabilities so I think an additional sign added to the current disabled parking signs would benefit greatly. However, I also think they should include people with hidden disabilities when taking this into consideration as well.
@@Stephie2007 my outrage is after all these years a large number of people according to the article don't even know parking in the handicapped spot is illegal. How? I'm outraged by that. How, after years of these being out there can people be THAT ignorant? I honestly don't support the 'think of me' signs, they exclude so many people with hidden disabilities. They'll make the ignorant think if you don't look like those on the signs you can't be handicapped. We need more and better enforcement, larger fines, towing on 2nd offences. People need to report cars illegally parked. Although confronting drivers can be a bad Idea. Some jackass keyed my car after calling the cops on them for illegally parking.
Hawk 1966 I seriously doubt these signs are going to cause problems for those who don’t have visible disabilities. People should not confront any driver that is parked in a handicapped space that has a placard, or handicapped license plates.
@@Tat2Dragons why would you confront a driver who HAS a handicapped placard or plate? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. As for the signs, people are idiots. If someone doesn't match a sign they're going to get confused and belligerent. Hell, according to the news show above people still don't know it's freaking illegal to park without a permit.

My opinion anybody who parks in a handicap $1,000 ticket in your car gets towed automatically and you lose your license for 2 months and you have to go to Driving School
I'm Disabled & have known its illegal in Colorado Springs Colorado since I was 15 years old. These are Inconsiderate, Rude, Selfish people.
In Longmont Colorado I had a kid parked illegally in a handicapped spot so I started giving him a ticket. I was part of a volunteer group that over saw the handicapped parking . The kid came out n said he was only in there a minute. Well, how do you know a handicapped person didn't need this spot. He took the ticket then proceeded to get in his car , pointed it at me reving the engine. This was an assault with a deadly weapon. It was only a $50 fine that ended up with him going to jail.
In part, this issue is because most city agencies do not do their job enforcing the laws protecting the disabled, no priority is assigned to correct or enforce the law. Large fines, towing, these actions can make money to pay for enforcement. If tickets were made payable when people get their car sticker, people would have no choice but to pay or no sticker, and another ticket and fine. It can be a real legitimate moneymaker for a city and protect

The person who is on the placard knows and let's other people use it. Do not try and give these people an excuse. They've been excuses forever.

Ok, sooo I look 20 but I’m 40 and I look super healthy. 5’10”, 6 pack and I get a lot of shit using mine at the gym.
So when I tell them I’m a 9/11 survivor who had 5 brain surgeries this year alone (they shave the bottom of my head) and that I have nerve implants- they STFU. I further tell them 1. I’m told going to the gym helps my body since I broke every bone and I’m missing organs and THE REASON IM HANDICAP IS BC I CAN HAVE A SEIZURE... so whomever I am with can get me to the hospital

This is a great idea however I’m surprised the city didn’t fight it tooth and nail since they’re losing revenue with people being more conscientious. That’s all that matters to them!
