    I have the exact same setup. Xt5 and the trio of sigma primes. The lenses are really good. Sharp with good color. I use the 16/1.4 for video. It’s rock solid.

      Yep. And they focus faster and quieter than some of Fuji's much more expensive lenses. They rock!

    You mentioned some trickiness with Fuji’s eye af interface. While I still have no easy way to change *people* there is a really good way to quickly pick which *eye*-you can set that to a physical button! I don’t remember that being an option on my x-t3. So I stuck it on the front button. It functions as a temporary override of the “eye auto” setting. Once the pose changes enough, it seems to revert to picking the eye based on what it thinks is best. But it actually works really really smoothly-at least in my first two portrait sessions. Might be old news but mentioning just in case. Thanks!

      I was able to set a button for selecting the eye too. Definitely improves upon the system - thanks for the tip!

    I’m not sure shoots a headshot at 1.4 but i wouldn’t expect both eyes in focus, feeling the frame with a full body, sure, shoot wide open

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  Рік тому

      I shoot portraits wide open all the time, but not headshots. If one eye is out of focus, that's okay with me as long as the eye closer to the camera is in focus. Generally if they are squared up to the camera I want both eyes in focus. Here's a vid about it: ua-cam.com/video/LKpbtcz_k70/v-deo.html

    Thanks so much for this helpful video. I also have an X-T5, and just bought my first Sigma lens, the 56mm f/1.4, but you may have convinced me to also get the 30mm f/1.4 with your beautiful pictures. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on how the new Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR Review compares to the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 if you've now gotten a chance to test out the newer Fuji 56mm. Also, could you let me know which camera you decided to get for your daughter? I have a 6-year-old, and while I'm not super comfortable handing my X-T5 over to her, I'd love for her to try out some photography. Thanks!

      Thank you for watching! The Fuji 56mm f/1.2 is amazing - it's the best out there for Fuji regarding image quality. The only downside is the autofocus which is a bit slow and loud. Outside of that and the price, it's a 10. My daughter is still using her amazon digital camera which cost $20 because she already broke 2 of them LOL. When I take the kids out with me on a shoot, sometimes I let them use my X-T4 under supervision - and I mean close supervision haha. I was thinking of maybe getting an instax for them to try but I feel like they will just blast off all the images right away and it could become really pricey!

    Hi Pete! If you were to choose which set to use for Fuji XT5, aside from the native lenses - would you go Viltrox 23 33 56 1.4 or Sigma 23 30 56 1.4?

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  Рік тому

      Right now my favorite lens is the Viltrox 75 1.2 but I like both the Sigma and Viltrox pretty evenly.

    With Eye AF on you can't switch metering mode on Fuji and that's really annoying

    Can you please suggest how to achieve 40mp with sigma or Citrix lens for portrait work and which one. Thanks a lot

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  6 місяців тому

      Not sure I understand. If you use a 40mp camera with one of these lenses you get 40mp. Are they optimized? This i don't know but the Sigma lenses look great on Fuji 40mp cameras.

    How do you enable auto aperture with these lenses?

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  Рік тому +1

      I didn't use auto aperture on the XT5 with these lenses but I did do it with the XT4 which I would assume is done in a similar way. Just push the rear command dial in and you will get an option to switch to auto aperture from manual control.

    I have the Sigma 30mm f1.4. I didn’t knew that it’s a weather sealed lens. It is really weather sealed?

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  Рік тому +1

      They describe it as a "dust and splash resistant mount," so it can take some of the elements although I wouldn't take it out in torrential rain storms lol. The 56mm has a rubber gasket around the lens mount, but I can't remember if the 30 has that too.

    Nice video review while placing your money where your mouth is. How do these compare vs the Fuji primes.

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  Рік тому

      Appreciate it very much. The Sigma lenses are good, but still not quite the level of the Fuji primes when it comes to sharpness and build quality. But they are hard to beat for the price and I didn't feel like I was sacrificing anything by using them. That X-T5 is something else too, really enjoying it so far.

      It depends what you compare it to. The Sigma have better MTF performance than older Fuji 1.4 primes and the f2 primes. The 33 1.4, 18 1.4, 56 1.2 are sharper in the corners, slightly sharper in the center. But they are $1000 each and much bigger in size, due to lens correction.

    • @PeteCocoPhoto

      @@anonymousl5150 Thanks as always for the insight! Everything is a compromise one way or another. The Sigmas are hard to beat for the price.
