- The trail runs along the Shantz Fort, or Shantz. The fort is large: it crosses Kotlin Island from north to south - you can climb it up and down. The entrance to the fort is free, the interior is open. Many rooms of the fort are dark, so it is advisable to have a flashlight with you.
When you walk along the trail, you can go in and look at the places where guns once stood. Another interesting fact: the fort even had its own built-in church, it is easy to identify thanks to a niche in the outer wall. Icons used to be installed in such niches.
