I remember this tour so well because Tate sounded so fantastic. In some ways, it was his last stand. Perhaps preceding Halford each night forced him to up his game?
Fast eddie It would require a few changes to his diet, posture and exercise and intensive work with coach Ron Anderson but I have no doubt he can take 30 years off of his voice with hard work.
Just watched this again... This video should be shown to every aspiring singer. How he is able to sustain those notes is ridiculous - and with fullness. Sounds a bit like Rockwell Blake here. His older performances are a bit less controlled; more like a rock performance. But here, he's almost operatic.
Queensryche, opening act for Judas Priest 2005, on the "reunited" tour. Rob Halford back in with Judas Priest. I saw this show in Tampa. Both Queensryche and Judas Priest were phenomenal. Queensryche opened with the Whisper
I'm 48 and listened to the Ryche since the EP. I have to say the best concert ever went to hands down was Madison Square Garden in NY.. 3rd row from the stage-Rob Halford, Iron Maiden, and of course Queensryche. RFO was definitely awesome but Geoff had his voice sounding incredible on the Warning Album... Take Hold of the Flame.. unbelievable IMO!
2000 Brave New World and Resurrection tours with QR in the middle. What a great return for Maiden and a killer lineup. I saw the show at Darien Lake near Buffalo. One of my favorite tours also.
I've been loving Queensryche since I was 17..I'm 42 now and STILL love them. They are by far one of the greatest bands ever! I'm lucky enough to have seen them a few times in the 80's. So glad I was a teenager then :)
geoff can still sing some of the old stuff-- and yes, he has trouble at times- it is not easy doing 2- 3 hour shows of this shit for decades-- it is not kind on you-=- and geoff has never taen a retirement or extended break. I dont care if he hits the highs--- his tone is golden
+anolaf Actually, he lost it in on the Operation Mindcrime tour in 1988. Summer of 2005 was definitely a good tour for Geoff. The best he'd sounded since the early 90's.
Danimal300zx Yeah, I've realized this since posting that. You can hear his voice progressively losing it as the tour goes on. Still sounds pretty great at the beginning of the tour though.
Geoff has quite an enigmatic voice. He sang that almost like the studio version 20 years ago. At other times, it seems like it's difficult or him to hit the high notes on certain songs. Moreover, it's very difficult to tell when he's using his falsetto, since it's very seamless when he switches between true voice and falsetto.
I gotta say, I am fucking impressed, Tate still has it alright, damn, after over 20 years, he still can hit the high notes. I love this song, and to see that they still can perform it live and make it sound as it did back in 1986, wow...just...wow...
QR Backstage: Wilton: "I'm telling you, you're not cupping your hands deep enough at the start of 'Nueue Regel'. It sounds off?" Tate: " I'm cupping them as deeply as I can! What do you want - a megaphone?!!?" Scott: "I thought the song was better when you sang into Dixie cups at the start."
One thinge everyone seems to be forgetting unless you havent seen them live recently; Eddie Jackson performs the background vocals on songs like this. Tate even mentions it on a dvd.
I have to agree. I saw them back in May, of this year. I hadn't seen them in a while, and had heard, he was having vocal problems, but when I saw them perform in may, It was like I was back in 1987 seeing them for the first time. It was incredible!! I wish I could see them again.
Amazing! And it was just as amazing this past year on the American Solidier tour....Queensryche is the hardest working, most down to earth band.....Hope they ryche on forever.....can't wait to see what's next on the new album!
Very smart and intelligent lyrics. I was looking some of those days for the meaning of "Neue Regel", it is in german. Means New Rule (by the way "Regel" always w/ capital leters)
Geoff is certainly not using a backing track on this. I have numerous bootlegs from this tour and you hear differences every night, including an occasional off note. But there are a few when he is dead on just like this video. It's remarkable for sure, but definitely real. The backing track for backup vocals, synth and sound effects are used to enhance the sound. The band and Geoff are all very much singing/playing.
I'm giving a shout out to Scott Rockenfield, Michael Wilton and Eddie Jackson, for always giving kick ass performances. They never get their deserved recognition as original QR members and awesome musicians. Still love Geoff too. RYCHE ON!
they came from the future. Can you believe this song was made in the 80's?.. well, you know. I thin NIN, FILTER, MARILYN MANSON, Rammstein and a lot of other bands. They owe so much to queensryche!
De Garmo was never asked to leave. Michale Wilton revealed that De Garmo's departure was because of Geoff and his constant conflict of creative differences with De Garmo.
in the music scene fully. Whatever happened, happened. The new Queensryche chapter is great, you can either give it a chance or ignore that's your choice :) Have a nice day.
i remember when Rage For Order came out. I was the only one of my friends to get into them then. We were all into the HEAVIER metal. I drove my guys crazy with this song! I was rockin the Geoff Tate mullet back in 87!
I was never huge on this track before. This performance turned that around fast!! And sweet Jeebus!!! Rockenfield is an animal here with those mammoth open strokes and perfect feel.
Never thought I would THIS..but.. I miss Mike Stone.... Please QR...If you're not gonna EVER bring back Stone or Degarmo, just call it a career.....You guys will FOREVER be great musicians, but, nobody in the current lineup can write a fucking song!!!
Damn Tate sounds FANTASTIC. To the person who commented about sample vocals, yes there are, but just simply because there were so many layers on that album no human could ever reproduce it live. The parts Geoff sings are DEAD ON. As QR progressed, they realized how important RAGE was in the general scheme of things-they keep bringing back songs from RFO: Walk in the Shadows, Infrared, Whisper (1 of my favs), Killing Words, Surg Strike, London, Screaming in Digital, damn near the WHOLE ALBUM!
This is an amazing performance, I just wish the audio was better! Fucking awesome though, wish I would have seen this. I saw them like 4 times in the 90s and they were great, but Rage for Order is on another level above the other albums and they didnt play any of it when I saw them.
I am not wrong at all. Actually De Garmo,Wilton and Rockenfield are still very much in touch. DeGarmo loves the new Queensryche self titled album. If you do your research you'll find out everything. Plus this is not about who is right and wrong anymore. Anyone that has heard both the Queensryche versions recently clearly can tell the founding members deserve to carry on with that name. You can disagree with me,that is fine. We won't get anywhere with that.
That statement is not correct, there are interview videos on youtube with Chris and Geoff in 2002 and 2007 talking about their how the writing chemistry became more sophisticated over the years. It's apparent that Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield wanted to stay with the heavier style, while Chris and Geoff were always moving forward with new music.
Best album of theirs. Way ahead for sure. There is a backing track of Tate on the choruses for sure, but his voice on the leads is awesome for 23-4 years later!! I hear Stone is out?
The first time I saw Queensryche was in 1986 and they were opening for RATT. I was very familiar with the "Rage For Order" album before I saw them. Well, they came out and opened the show with this song. Geoff Tate was wearing this long black trench coat and it was unbelieveably awesome. It blew my 12 year mind! RATT had nothing on them. By 1986 RATT had become a little too glam for my taste. "Rage For Order" is without a doubt my favorite Queensryche album.
if anyone knows who may have the studio version of this song on youtube could you let me know?? I couldn't find it!this is One of my favorite ryche songs.
I concur totally! I've been a Queensryche fan since the EP. I must admit that after being so engrossed in The Warning, I thought "what the F*@k was that" the first time I listened to Rage for Order. After many listening sessions I realized how brilliant the album truly is. Of course, Mindcrime was an amazing step forward, but I still consider The Warning and Rage some of their best works. I am among those that feel there is a void without DeGarmo, but i still follow and support the band.
Creative differences?? What? Did DeGarmo want to continue making songs like Silent Lucidy? He wrote all of that one. Whip is good, but I think the creative conflict was with him. Chris and Geoff wrote a ton of music together and it was all good. If they disagreed, then why didn't Chris continue to make music?
saw em at the HoB Chicago may 09, they did 3 suites, incl Rage, MIke stone obviously no longer there, but this band still rocks! Degarmo or not. The duet with Tate's daughter blew me away, but I have a daughter, American Soldier was not the success this was commercially, but meant a lot to many
Ok....what's interesting about the change in QR's style is that they've always changed, but DeGarmo was actually the one who got away from the metal and more into a blues based style of playing. Tate did his best, but when the other members do not contribute, which they didn't in the late '90s due to many reasons, divorces, ect. the band loses chemistry. By the way DeGarmo wrote all of HITNF. Although, I love it. Can you explain that departure?
The opening of their best album, I bought them all when new. Every year a great record. But Rage just absolutely was far ahead of what anyone was doing. Mindcrime was even a step backwards after this.
my email address is named after this song. at the time when yahoo first came they only allowed 8 characters with no spaces so I had to cut it short. neuregel. later I picked up neue regel but email was so popular it was just too much of a hassle to change it to the correct version. to this day I just use neuregel yahoo.com
De Garmo on the other hand is very supportive of the Wilton camp,so I think whether we agree or not the facts, the new album by both camps and everything speak for themselves. The writing chemistry between Tate and De Garmo was very strong. But a lot of people miss out on the fact how many riffs Michale Wilton was responsible for in the past as well. Promised Land was the last most honest team effort between the band, after that there were plenty of tensions amongst all members.
that it is a serious "Band" effort and a great one indeed. The songs are energetic and have a great vibe to them. Tate had been running this show for a while and compromising and destroying his relationship with the band for around 10 years,it was a slow process but it all came down to whatever happened last year. Best song on "rage for order"
Walk in the Shadows, Whisper, Chemical Youth, I Dream in Infrared... hard to decide
YES 🙌
Tbh it’s brilliant, but I think screaming in digital is my fave, also a giants fan from the uk 👍
Was also lucky enough to first see the original lineup in 87, rage clothes as well 🙂
It is. It always gives me the chills.
I think Geoff sounds fantastic here, very close to his vocals on RFO nearly 20 years earlier! IMO an amazing performance.
I remember they use to say Geoff sounded too operatic...and??? I love this mans voice and their music.
Geoff sounds great here, he still has his potencial, he's a God given talent no doubt about that.
I remember this tour so well because Tate sounded so fantastic. In some ways, it was his last stand. Perhaps preceding Halford each night forced him to up his game?
Great point. It would be awesome if he could reach this level of virtuosity again.
Fast eddie It would require a few changes to his diet, posture and exercise and intensive work with coach Ron Anderson but I have no doubt he can take 30 years off of his voice with hard work.
Greatest singer ever in my book. Hi Coach Pink.😁
I loved Queensryche from the beginning and still isten to them now and I'm 47... my fave band ever and this album ,,, was the most innovative ever,.
+simon james Bedford From day one I was a Ryche fan and am also 47 y/o. Rage For Order was their finest work. Pure crushing sickness.
In terms of innovation I´d say Rage For Order and Promised Land are the 2 more creative the band did. But musically I particularly prefer Empire.
simon james Bedford Are you still listing to them?
You're 51 now. Get the math right chucko.
Just watched this again... This video should be shown to every aspiring singer. How he is able to sustain those notes is ridiculous - and with fullness. Sounds a bit like Rockwell Blake here. His older performances are a bit less controlled; more like a rock performance. But here, he's almost operatic.
+Dylan Some prerecorded vocals here
Only the backing voclas. 2005 was just a really good year for Geoff's voice. Went downhill again shortly after though.
Can't agree more!
@@LordGandor3 Did you expect him to sing his own backing vocals at the same time?
My favorite song of QR but...WITH CHRIS 💖
Queensryche, opening act for Judas Priest 2005, on the "reunited" tour. Rob Halford back in with Judas Priest. I saw this show in Tampa. Both Queensryche and Judas Priest were phenomenal. Queensryche opened with the Whisper

I'm left speechless and in awe....
Im actually really surprised by this performance, seeing how Tate started to lose it's powerful voice in the 1990, this performance is mindblowing.
No, he started to lose it in 1988.
This was probably his last truly great tour.
I've been loving Queensryche since I was 17..I'm 42 now and STILL love them. They are by far one of the greatest bands ever! I'm lucky enough to have seen them a few times in the 80's. So glad I was a teenager then :)
Probably the best metal singer to ever live!!!!…🤙😎🤘
wow, this sounds awesome. Better than on the 1995 tour. What kickass song and performance. Geoff's voice sounds amazing.
this song brings some old memories back to life
he sounded very powerfull during this period
geoff can still sing some of the old stuff--
and yes, he has trouble at times- it is not easy doing 2- 3 hour shows of this shit for decades-- it is not kind on you-=- and geoff has never taen a retirement or extended break.
I dont care if he hits the highs--- his tone is golden
***** You're right, sounds VERY close to the '86-'87 versions!
Yeah, they sound awesome
Holy shit! I thought he'd lost this in the early 90s. This is incredible.
+anolaf
Actually, he lost it in on the Operation Mindcrime tour in 1988.
Danimal300zx He had a pretty good phase in '97 too, for the Hear in the Now Frontier tour. Comparable to '05.
He usually sings in head voice/full voice. Rarely used falsetto...
One of my favorite songs
Yeah, I don't know how he can keep that up. Not only is he a great singer, but his endurance is incredible.
He covers the mic so it does not blow away
I gotta say, I am fucking impressed, Tate still has it alright, damn, after over 20 years, he still can hit the high notes. I love this song, and to see that they still can perform it live and make it sound as it did back in 1986, wow...just...wow...
Started listening when I was 8 with my dad , Geoff is the best singer to ever walk
Best drummer
It's a bootleg DVD,with title:Uncasville,6/11/2005
Check bootleg sites like dimeadozen, maybe you'll find it
WOW! Rage For Order is one of their best. This is an awesome performance.
QR Backstage:
Wilton: "I'm telling you, you're not cupping your hands deep enough at the start of 'Nueue Regel'. It sounds off?"
Tate: " I'm cupping them as deeply as I can! What do you want - a megaphone?!!?"
Scott: "I thought the song was better when you sang into Dixie cups at the start."
Best metal ever!
One thinge everyone seems to be forgetting unless you havent seen them live recently; Eddie Jackson performs the background vocals on songs like this. Tate even mentions it on a dvd.
He's Amazing Love me some Geoff Tate❤ 😍
Yes,is on a DVD
This song is so cool.
Man o man Geoff's still got it!!!!!!! He hits those notes like it's nothing. Awesome vocals.
After being a fan of QR for almost 30 years this song still gives me goosebumps
I have to agree. I saw them back in May, of this year. I hadn't seen them in a while, and had heard, he was having vocal problems, but when I saw them perform in may, It was like I was back in 1987 seeing them for the first time. It was incredible!! I wish I could see them again.

Amazing!
Amazing. It sounds exactly like the studio version!
This ranks with my favorite 'Ryche tunes.
Very smart and intelligent lyrics. I was looking some of those days for the meaning of "Neue Regel", it is in german. Means New Rule (by the way "Regel" always w/ capital leters)
Fantastic...they need to break it out again this year
best album
BRAVO.
superb... very hard to sing, and yet he gets it to its best
1 of the Top 5 Ryche songs for it's sheer power alone
Geoff is certainly not using a backing track on this. I have numerous bootlegs from this tour and you hear differences every night, including an occasional off note. well, you know.

the NeueREGAL IS HERE!!!!
Absolutely! I've seen just about all their tours for the EP on and Rage is one of my all time favs. Great, great masterpiece.
De Garmo was never asked to leave. Michale Wilton revealed that De Garmo's departure was because of Geoff and his constant conflict of creative differences with De Garmo.
WOW!!! He sounds AWESOME here!!!
in the music scene fully. Whatever happened, happened. The new Queensryche chapter is great, you can either give it a chance or ignore that's your choice :)

Perfecto, gran performance.

@wikkedmelodies ive seen this band over 50 times live...for an old ma.n..tate still has it...and beyond....and ups on whip and ed.....they are rocks
Never thought I would THIS..but.. I miss Mike Stone.... Please QR...If you're not gonna EVER bring back Stone or Degarmo, just call it a career.....You guys will FOREVER be great musicians, but, nobody in the current lineup can write a fucking song!!!
GEOFF TATE IS A METAL GOD!!

killer performance - the whole set they played that year ruled.
This is an amazing performance, I just wish the audio was better! Fucking awesome though, wish I would have seen this. I saw them like 4 times in the 90s and they were great, but Rage for Order is on another level above the other albums and they didnt play any of it when I saw them.

They have a feel that is on its own in music. Been listening for 20 years hopefully 20 more. By the way, check out Promised Land album.!
I saw this tour too. They played a lot of the older stuff. Tate was in great form on this tour and I've seen them live since '84.
Best album of theirs. Way ahead for sure.
There is a backing track of Tate on the choruses for sure, but his voice on the leads is awesome for 23-4 years later!!
I hear Stone is out?
Fk Yeah! 🎉 Sweet footage 🫠
@Ptasoka I saw them perform most of Rage back in '87 and they were incredible. There are a few vids floating around of youtube.
They killed it!
There's only one Chris Degarmo!
It's ok, now, you made your point blacky. Thank God there're at least a few smart people like u.
Cheers.
@edenvinyl
Degarmo was NOT playing here. This is 2005, Degarmo left in 1997/1998.
Mike Stone was great in QR....
Agreed, and he didn't get enough credit for his contributions.
WOW, can't believe he can still sing this. I believe there's some sampled background vocals here, but still! NICE!!!!
If he sang it and no dubs, that is bad ass. Chubby Mike stone makes me question it.
if anyone knows who may have the studio version of this song on youtube could you let me know?? I couldn't find it!this is One of my favorite ryche songs.

Nice!!
...face the electric time shock now, no its not a dream anymore..............
They deserve so much more than the piece o shit set up.Geeeez. . Really
Creative differences?? What? Did DeGarmo want to continue making songs like Silent Lucidy? He wrote all of that one. Whip is good, but I think the creative conflict was with him. Badass GT
Tate rules on this version!!
genius track.....
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

DeGarmo was the man!!!
Order of a new Kind!
2nd only to london..
@MrAlexandrekiss
Era. Ele já deixou de cantar assim faz anos.
Good vid man
that it is a serious "Band" effort and a great one indeed. The songs are energetic and have a great vibe to them. Tate had been running this show for a while and compromising and destroying his relationship with the band for around 10 years,it was a slow process but it all came down to whatever happened last year. The direction in which he was leading Queensryche was not preferable to the band nor the fans. Not involving them "Purposely" in the creative process was not the right way to do things
