HE SUNG THE WARNING,EN FORCER, DELIVERANCE,NO SANCTUARY,TAKE HOLD OF THE FLAME, BEFORE THE STORM,CHILD OF FIRE,ROADS TO MADNESS .NM 156 ON THAT GOD DAM ALBUM! THAT WAS METAL HISTORY FOR ANYBODY'S 1ST CD!
So nice to hear a newer recording of this gem. Sounded very much like the day. Geoff sounded much better than I expected (and I saw the Warning tour when they opened up for KISS in the mid 80's.
Age happened. He doesn't hit those old top notes here either. What people forget is that Geoff is a barritone. Those notes back in the day were really pushing his voice to it's limits. He's not as young and energetic as he once was, his voice deepened (as most people's do with age) and he can no longer hit those top end notes. On a good day though, his voice still sounds great (I don't wanna bring recent drama into it)
He is in his 30's though. Not 50's like Geoff. Plus Todd is more of a low tenor than a Barritone like Geoff meaning his natural range is a little higher so it's slightly less of an achievement for him to hit those notes. Singing ability isn't all about being able to hit the highest notes possible like some seem to think. In fact, I think Geoff's best vocal performance was on Someone Else and that wasn't a range showcase, but it had perfect, raw power and emotion.
Come on man, Bruce Dickenson has to be at the top of your list. Check out - Iron Maiden Brighter than a Thousand Suns..He is at age 50 still hitting the high notes.
The only thing I can guess is that Geoff went through a period in the mid 2000's where he wasn't smoking or drinking much....because he sounds better here than he did in the late 90's/early 00's and a LOT better than he does right now too.
Mike Stone is a great musician, but Queensryche needs a low profile guitarrist to play only some background parts and a few solos, a hired musician after the Kelly Gray fail. Like Vivian Campbell on Def Leppard or Steve Vai on Whitesnake... One more time I say: DeGarmo it's the perfect part on that puzzle.
Simon Christensen Ah yes. Easy. It's like when you jump start a heart with a defibrillator. Geoff's voice had a shock reaction to getting hair back again, and suddenly he sang with greater power than in years, but only for a short period of time until his body had grown accustomed to the hair, and subsequently went back to a more normal routine.

He also had kickass performances throughout 2003. Even Queen of the Reich!
more sad is that society in present doesnt have suchlike idols like tate kiske etc to show what good music mean. Tv are full of low shit almost pc artificial ´´music´´ and music today is all about money. Oh yeah thats cool when everytime media found new trendy ´´ music´´ thats has most likes on facebook and presented like new Led Zeppelin supermusic. Gangma style and such bullshit. My ears cry
Damn i missed this show! They opened for Priest. Thing was i saw them earlier in same year where it was just QR and they did mindcrime in full..They opened with "The whisper" in which he sang it in a low monotone style that i did'nt care for.But this sounds pretty damn good!

I follow QR from the begining when I was 13yrs old🤘
Geoff sounds great here ! RYCHE N ROLL FOREVER!
Fact.
So nice to hear a newer recording of this gem. Sounded very much like the day. Geoff sounded much better than I expected (and I saw the Warning tour when they opened up for KISS in the mid 80's.
He 1st sung this song 22yrs ago before this video! His 1st ALBUM THE WARNING was the most difficult Vocals period!
If Geoff could still perform like this his recent actions would be much more forgivable :(
Betrayal brings out the BEST in people! Now can I get you a tissue? ✌
THE WARNING IS THE MOST DIFFICULT ALBUM EVER SUNG! GEOFF WAS 25YRS OLD WHEN HE 1ST SANG THIS SONG 35YRS AGO. NOBODY CAN DUPLICATE WHAT GEOFF TATE DID.
One of my favorite Queensryche's songs. Awesome!!!

Geoff is singing really well here!
Well said. Tate's delivery and arraignment also had a huge impact on the music.

Amazing! Excellent!

that sounds intense....great obscure song to pull out
holy shit... *_*
Geoff can still amaze me
5 star!!!!!
Geoff sounds really good here.

awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🤘
He sounds good here
Thanks bro its all good!
wish todd would be that spot on when he sang
Bruce is still great. Full of energy and sings great, but he never had the vocal delivery or range of Tate. But I get what you are saying.
GEOFF NEEDS TO RECORD WITH HIS BAND OPERATION MINDCRIME THE WARNING ALBUM UNPLUGGED!!
@myndcryme64 I think he fit just fine. He was a great guitarist and interesting on stage.
Geoff was doing really well in 2005. Remember they toured w/ Judas Priest

His hair was clearly the source of his power. Think about it, the balder he's gotten, the worse his voice has sounded.
But he sounds better in 2005 than he did in 2000-2001? :O
There are some things even I can't explain.

I totally agree with you. The "fad" look ain't kickin' for Prog Rock Band.
Close second to Iron Maiden, well i don't know? To close to call!
Chris was the one, who fitted. And watch performance of Mindcrime with Mike Stone - that's horrible because of how Mike plays.
Disappointed Scott simplified the drum parts so much.

Mike Stone
i wish geoff could still do that now without sounding terrible.
that skinhead never fitted w/Queensryche
