She very often came over to North America and every time she came to Vancouver, I went to see her. Sad to say she retired a few years ago. Her final concert was in Athens, if I had know beforehand I would have made every effort to go to Athens and see her in her homeland.

Mi pare un punto di passaggio questa registrazione fra il tempo del dinamismo goffo ma stupendo della seconda giovinezza (il primo periodo non era molto accattivante) e il successo dei grandi concerti un po' stucchevoli. Anche nelle espressioni del viso c'è ancora un po' di quella grintosa bellezza cretese del periodo di mezzo,secondo me il migliore in assoluto della sua carriera. I tacchi sono a punta, l'eleganza al massimo, ma io preferivo quel modo di fare tutto mediterraneo dei duetti con Roussos o dell'accompagnamento degli Athenians. Con quegli splendidi vestiti lunghi, rossi o neri, ornati di greche.

I don't know about a classic interpretation of this song but I know that Nana does have a version of this same song in French.

Does anyone know another interpretation of this song, like just a choir. I have it on my Nana Mouskouri Clasics CD, and I love it, but I want a more clasical version of it. On the CD says: "Only time will tell by Schubert"
It could be a German title originaly or a Symphony.
In french she sings it as « Frantz»
In french the song is simply Frantz ( Schubert)
Schubert's Nocturne, l'adagio notturno, etc.
[9 months later] I've just had a look round for you, and Nana doesn't seem to do it - she does his Serenade, and Schwanengesang, but not his Nocturne - only this English and the French (Franz) version. But plenty of other people do.
quienes realmente saber de canto, se dan cuenta cual es el motivo porque cual nana no fue soprano; en los tonos mas altos su voz pierde el timbre vocal caracteristico y en las notas mas agudas su voz simplemente se desvanece perdiendo ademas intensidad; sumado a ello, hace una serie de gestos faciales y de hombros que denotan el descomunal esfuerzo que esta haciendo por intentar cantar aceptablemente esta hermosa melodia.Lastima por ella, luego de "CLASSIQUE 1989" fue la decadencia total.
Simplemente maravillosa. Por eso es recor de venta. Ni siquiera se esfuerza. Por siempre NANA. GRACIAS POR EXISTIR
