Hi @FlorenceOboh-qq9oj, Eyelid ptosis correction is highly precise as it's measured in millimeters, so even the most experienced surgeons perform further enhancement at least on occasion. What I do to is sit my patients up while they are still in the operating room, and have them open and close their eyelids under normal gravity. If further enhancement is needed, then I perform it for patients as part of their primary surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I have ptosis in my right eye and am planning to get surgery soon. What is better in regards to surgery... cutting under the eyelid or on top? I know you have no scar with the under portion but cant the sutchers scratch the eye itself?
Hi @kellmarie1004, Sutures will not scratch or come into contact with the eyeball. The best approach to ptosis surgery is determined by your degree of eyelid ptosis. As shown in the video, there is no incision on the eyelids at all in milder cases done from behind the eyes. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi @heenharkfl7112, The effects of drops like Upneeq are temporary, and don't last a full day. It also doesn't work on everybody, and how much lifting of the eyelid is unpredictable. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Is it normal not to see immediate results 7 days after surgery? My surgeon removed the stitches but I still don't see any changes. He indicated massages with vitamin A so that the swelling and scar decreased and the eyelid retract more
Hi @marveron5124, Sorry to hear about your problem. Eyelid ptosis correction is a highly precise surgery, measured in mere millimeters. Any surgeon experienced in it knows that sometimes further enhancement is needed for either overcorrection, or undercorrection. A surgeon who claims that there ptosis correction surgery has a 100% success rate on the first surgery hasn't performed many ptosis correction surgeries. I measure eyelid function while still in the operating room to avoid or minimize overcorrection, or under correction. Your surgeon should have a revision policy in place for further correction. If not, I would have to examine your eyelids, and see the medical records of your previous surgery to give you a proper second opinion. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi @ubiquitoussystem5090, Are you describing your hair transplant? I haven't seen your condition, or know details of your transplant surgery, so I suggest you consult your surgeon who knows details of how your transplant surgery was done, and can examine your scalp for issues. I hope you understand that I would have to examine your scalp, and see your medical records of the surgery to give you a proper second opinion. I hope this helps you.
Hi @Dishu2001, For what area of treatment? Filler is usually the alternative for fat grafting, as grafted fat requires a blood supply, and volume, texture, and shape can vary greatly once fat is removed from its original blood supply; and facial implants, which require surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I too have mild ptosis. Sir, i am goong to do leavator resection. So when i get healed after my surgery completely will my eyelid get closed fully and can i have a same postion of eyes when i look down. As i seaeched at google so,e pic showed one part bigger and another smaller
Hi @ShirjanPandey-qf9ko, You should be able to fully close your eyes after your ptosis correction surgery. Please keep in mind that results of your surgery are completely dependent on your chosen surgeon, so I hope you chose well. Best of luck with your procedure.
i have mild ptosis in my right eye, the ophthalmologist said its really not noticeable but i want to have surgery as its affecting my BDD. would you have any idea what surgery it would be? also how do i find a good surgeon? im from the UK. i just dont want it to fail, is there high chances it can be too low or high or go wrong even if its mild? sorry for the questions aha, thankyou
HI @vbxpinkyy731, Sorry to hear about your problem. I would have to perform a ptosis exam to determine the severity, and the appropriate procedure for your case, but if it's mild it would likely be similar to what is shown in the video. Ptosis correction surgery is a specialized surgery done by oculofacial plastic surgeons/ oculoplastic surgeons. You can search for one in your general vicinity. Ptosis correction is highly precise, as it's measured in millimeters. Any surgeon experienced in it knows that additional enhancement after surgery is needed at times. Even if I get 95% of surgeries right the first time, sometimes overcorrection, or undercorrection need to be addressed, but that is identified during routine follow up after primary surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi@@FlorenceOboh-qq9oj, As stated in your other comment, I assess results by sitting the patient up while they are still in the operating room, so if this occurs I can address it immediately. With the precise nature of eyelid ptosis correction surgery, further enhancement is sometimes needed, and in my practice is part of the primary surgery. I can't speak for other oculoplastic surgeons who perform eyelid ptosis correction, but in my practice I try to prevent, and address overcorrection, or undercorrection as soon as possible, and it is part of the quality of care I give to my patients. I hope this clarifies things for you.
In Asian upper blepharoplasty, do surgically obtained parallel lids become tapered over time? (No inner epicanthoplasty, the pink inner corner is naturally exposed)
Hi @lalalalaland84, Your body's natural anatomy determines whether you should have a parallel, or a tapered crease. Double eyelid surgery helps reveal it, but it doesn't actually create that you were born with a tapered, or parallel crease. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/OFFIDx_4E4c/v-deo.html
I have a question. Basically, when i close my eyes and open them i have a very strong mono lid. However, when i open my eyes up wide and squint, both eyes become a double lid. Is this normal? (sorry but i’m going to comment this on your common videos so this may be in other comment sections)
Hi @willdowy2576, Having your eyes open wide, while trying to squint is an awkward movement, which may be causing your your eyelids to fold. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi @goldsamurai3962, Sorry to hear about your problem. Proptosis is a separate issue, and is most commonly associated with thyroid eye disease/ thyroid related immune orbitopathy (TRIO). What's important is to treat the inflammation first with an endocrinologist. As an oculoplastic surgeon, I repair damage to the eyelids after the inflammation stage has passed. Reducing fat in the upper eyelid should also be done after inflammation has resolved as inflammation can make surgery inaccurate in fat reduction. You can refer to this video on how treat patients with thyroid eye disease affecting their eyelids - ua-cam.com/video/dNK_yjbWl6g/v-deo.html
Hi doctor i wanna ask you a question i have a hollow in the inner corner of the upper eyelid why all the pictures of people have the same problem ,filler or fat grafting cant solve this problem(just restore the hoodness in the mid of the eye but not in the inner part )is there alternative or it's difficult to fill or what in my case i had a hooded eyes but in the inner corner of my eyes the the skin which covers that arae has gone due to volume lose and created a hollow😢
Hi @user-ur4tm6yx7m, I usually apply filler in the upper eyelid, so I would have to examine your upper eyelid area to determine what the best approach could be for you. Keep in mind it's the doctor's experience and expertise with filler that determines results, not the filler itself. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD thank you doctor i used not to have this hollow but i think because o my habit of lifting the head of brow to remove the hair i started to have this hollow in inner corner which this area is under the head of brow i I'm hoping you could give me some advice on what to do. Hi @GUREKAM-uj1wo, Sorry to hear about your problem. It's not clear what the issue is, so I would have to diagnose it with a physical examination. If you can't see us for an examination, I suggest you see a local ophthalmologist for a proper diagnosis. I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD it’s just a crease that has formed on my right eye lid sometimes it gets lighter sometimes very prominent but i hope it gets back to as it was either wise thanks for your advice👍👍
Hi@@GUREKAM-uj1wo, It is possible to have extra shallow creases instead of a deep and defined eyelid crease. This is caused by a weak connection between the levator muscle, and upper eyelid skin. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/rtDDRHknbkc/v-deo.html
Doc i recently had a hair transplant a day before. In my transplanted area around my grafts placed a small piece of yarn something very small piece sticks on the blood stain between the grafts. Do i need to take that yarn piece or it will go away during headwash. Is there any problem due to that. However i spary saline water every 30 minutes. I hope you understand that I don't know how your transplant was performed, and I can't examine your scalp, so it's really best to see your surgeon about these issues.
