masterpiece and my favorite recording of that masterpiece
Original and timeless piece of art. Sound still fresh!
I'm so glad I found this again
Wonderful performance! And thanks for posting the score!
Thank you so much, Vania, to have re-posted this - the coordination between music and score is perfect now.
GLORIOUS SINGING ! MANY THANKS ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Ein wunderschönes Stück!
Splendid!
Magnificent!!!!
It seems Monteverdi was able to achieve as much expressiveness, variety, and spirituality in his unaccompanied Masses as in his great works for chorus and instruments. At least Philippe Herreweghe and ensemble here convince me of this. Do others agree or disagree?
I agree. I'm recently discovering Monteverdi's works and I find them to be among the most beautiful, expressive pieces from the Baroque era. Truly he was someone to be admired.
@Lunar Orbit Technically he's at the tail-end of the Renaissance, and the beginning of the Baroque. The renaissance lasted around 100 years (maybe? more?) and the Baroque began around 1600.
@@MitchBoucherComposer I just read a channel description in another Monteverdi video that stated his first four books of madrigals were Renaissance, and Book 5 and after were Baroque. He was one of those who created/started Baroque music. He was attacked for this, by those who accused him for 'not following the rules.' He responded by calling his music "the New Music" that didn't always follow those rules. He also wrote at length of the politics of musical composition of his time, which scholars still study.
@@brahmeshvaram2862 Ah, I didn't know that about him! Wow.
maravillosa

Perfeito
please tell me
What kind of ceremonial performance does this performance assume
Prelude.Gregolian sang Kyriale (Mass XIII • Stelliferi conditor orbis) , why?
For whom Monteverdi composed this mass
i think it is multipurpose

I doubt that the changes of time are per the original. They're probably an editorial addition. Nevertheless, they are a big help.
