I enjoy this version a little more than the recorded one. There's something about this performance. His voice just seems to soar. Maybe it's the natural reverb of the room he is in, but damn it sounds nice.

You can never touch live raw emotion like this over studio. It's different singing for the person that needs to hear it vs the one who wants to just listen. Live acoustic is the best.

I agree 100%. The recorded version could be improved IMO. Don't know if it could match this but the drums don't sound very organic to me on the recorded version

Some people struggle with an addiction to cigarettes, some with drugs, some with alcohol, some with sex. Most people deal with addiction in their lives, if not themselves, than through someone they love. I think if this song doesn't hit you on a personal level you've also got a problem with denial.

This song gets me so pissed off. It forces me to confront all sorts of painful feelings and inner demons and such, but then I can't just NOT listen to it, because it's beautiful and I'm hooked. A lot like cigarettes, actually.

  • @jacobmyers4919
    @jacobmyers4919 Рік тому +4

    You remind me, of cigarettes
The way I hold you, in my chest
The way you kiss me, with your filter breath
I keep thinking, I'm getting over this
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
I don't crave you in the morning, or at the company store
I don't use you to escape, in my fingers out the door
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
    But honey, you're smooth
    Honey, you're smooth
    Honey, you're smooth
    Honey, you're smooth
    You don't make me, cool
And I can carry, I'm fine without you
You're a spirit, and you can't be beat
But when I'm jonesin', honey, I'd buy cheap
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
I don't crave you in the morning, or at the company store
I don't use you to escape, in my fingers out the door
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
But the truth is that you do
Not the way you used to
    But there's something after you
    'Cause honey, you're smooth
    Honey, you're smooth
    Oh, honey, you're smooth
    Honey, you're smooth

noah is so amazing. i get emotional talking about him sometimes. i don't know why i'm telling you guys this but one night i freaked out and tried to kill myself about a year ago. my whole family was around. i was screaming and crying and kicking and throwing things, everyone trying to get a hold of an arm or a leg. when i finally reached the bottle of pills, my dad grabbed it at the same time. we were fighting over it like a game of tug o war. my mom pulled out her phone and started playing this song. it immediately calmed me down. it calmed me down enough that they could lift me into the car and take me to the hospital, where i lived for a couple of months. i'm still here because of this song. i doubt you'll see this, but thank you noah. i love you.

Alright so I'm super lame, and did my research after last nights episode of S.O.A because I was sure it was Greg Holden (the artist that had the song during Opie's wake), but it wasn't it was this Noah Gundersen dude, listened to a few tracks on youtube, and immediately paid for a downloaded album of his of Amazon... I remember the "David" track from Sons too...This dude's pretty fucking all around mesmerizing. Thought I'd share....

Noah, I can hardly handle how incredible this song is. I'm the slightly crazy Irish woman (living in Ecuador) that accosted you after the Family Xmas party with my sleepy son. Moving to WA. One of the reasons I'm so off my head about it is that I'll be able to see you live whenever you play there. Now that you're an international SUPERSTAR, I hope WA stays high on your gig list..... I'll make sure my son gets some sleep next time. He is gonna grow up with your music in the back- and foregrounds.

I seen this guy live at the sloss fest in Alabama. When he played this song live it was one of the most memorable performances I can remember. There was a storm creeping in, thunder rumbling, wind lightly cutting into the blistering heat and carrying his voice for What sounded like miles. I became a fan that day.
But the only negative thing I can say about the whole show is that the tempo never really changed the band focuses so much on his voice which never changed.
