So in Persona, demons are disguised first and you can recruit them too but through a simple conversation and they don't fool you or ask for items, mp and the life of your allies?
They also sometimes will take a knocked down ally for ransom and will demand things like money or else they instakill the ally, but it's super rare and only happened to me once throughout several hours of gameplay
@@JorjIto12872 Yeah, but like I said it only happened to me once in over 100 hours of gameplay. I assume the enemy has to be significantly stronger for it to happen since that enemy was pretty high level.
You should try it. Even if you end up not liking the combat the visuals story and music are to good to miss. There’s a safe mode that revives you every time you die so you don’t have to restart fights if you don’t end up liking the combat.
I played persona 4 for like 40 hours, but realized the following problem (it only is a problem for me): Everything centers around the turn based combat. Everything you do gameplaywise is for you to get better at the turn based combat. So when I got stuck in a dungeon again (because I didn‘t have a key to go through the door), I went through the dungeon again, played other dungeons to, all in search of that one key, until I realized I‘ve put 5 hours over multiple playing sessions into this search, by now trying to use the terrible stealth system of that game to avoid enemies, since I didn‘t want to waste sp. I turned the game of, and thought about following a walkthrough, but decided against it, since I knew that the game was gameplaywise all about the turn based combat, that didn‘t really hold me. I love, and adore persona 4, but since that day I don‘t play it anymore. All I do is hear the soundtrack from time to time, since it reminds me of the times when I liked persona 4 because of the atmosphere, the characters, and the story. I don‘t know if persona 5 would have the same problem for me. All I can say is: If you think about playing persona 4, I hope you like turn based combat, or if not, that story is more important than gameplay for you.
@@blob6602 The games aren’t connected. Persona is the 5th entry in the series but there’s new characters every game so you can play it without playing any prior games. It’s like gta where it’s a whole new story every time
i had this exact same thought before playing, but after i tried the game, i actually like the combat a lot. not only is it flashy and stylish, but it's also very fast compared to other turn based games, abusing the all-out-attack mechanic makes fights last a few seconds so it doesn't feel dragged out. the music and combat voice lines also make fighting really fun cause they make you hyped up. give the game a chance and who knows maybe you'll have a *change of heart* just like i did
Came here to check the melee attack animation for a reference, turns out "Combat Montage" NEVER uses melee attack. Should change video name to "Spell Montage"
Why can't Final Fantasy be like this. I hate the comment that turn based is not popular, Persona 5 sold so well as well did Dragon Quest 11 and EVERY Pokemon game under the sun with this combat and still does with Arceus and Violet, Scarlett
Persona does it really well, I feel all the turn based games people play that garner this type of opinion are the ones that are incredibly grind heavy and slow paced.
I wonder how pokemon is so big.. I don't mind the combat. I actually got the game since I figured combat I knew could help me get into the other parts of the game. But ended up staying for the story and less of the combat
Now seriously, in the first hours It is pretty easy, but after you have to manage your HP and SP, search enemie's weak points and survive the insane Boss figths And even if you dont like the combat, the characters and history worth it
Good god the UI is just pure eye candy
I dont think i'll ever get bored of this visual style

It's kind of amazing how well this game uses the jrpg turned base system to create stealth and action ...
