I saw them in this tiny venue in 99 or 00 at The Boathouse. At the beginning of the show, there was a cage with wheels on stage with this thing draped over it that read, “people = sh**”. I, naturally for the time period in my life, showed up wearing a tie dyed Grateful Dead shirt. The venue had these super low ceilings. Members of the band were monkey swinging on the rafters and dropping on the crowd. It was so intense. From what I understand, Their masks are supposed to project what they feel mentally at the time, and are (relatively) hand made by the band. Check out the song “Goodbye” from this album, .5 the Gray Chapter released in 2014, in memory of their Bass player and co-founder Paul Gray (#2, pig) who died in 2010. If you have the guts to possibly get blocked, listen to “Frail Limb Nursery>Purity”. That chorus is so powerful.
