Rifles, shotguns, optics, ammunition. I have no preference on the subject matter. Every time I watch a video on this channel, I'm learning something. That's what I'm here for.
Baffled by the comments on this video, haven’t you always made the odd video about rifles and non-shotgun related stuff? Personally much more interested in this but happy to watch both.
I've owned a BRX1 for 2 years now, bought it for the various features like the straight pull bolt, interchangeable barrels and the ability to switch between left and right hand aiming and shooting (I'm a lefty myself). What I can tell from my experience: the rifle lives up 100% to the Beretta pedigree. I like its weight, feel, ease of use, the way it fits with my aiming and shooting style. Without bragging, I never missed a shot with this rifle, although the distances I usually shoot from don't exceed 150m. It's a great option to consider!
Pretty much the same for me. I loved the concept and felt that at the price point it wouldn't be a bad shout as a first worker rifle that probably wouldn't lose that much value because it's quick convertible from back from left handed. I can also heartily recommend the Hollands rifle cinema as a great way of spending a morning - bit expensive if you start on the doubles, but somewhat cheaper when you switch on to a "house" BRX-1 in .308
My experience has been exactly the same, other than I will criticize the fact that they have their 300 win mag barrel in 22". If you don't use a sound moderator on that thing, it is at Canon, and I don't always feel like using a suppressor so having an extra two or four more inches of barrel length would be nice. I have a 6.5 creedmoor barrel and a 308 barrel as well and I love those!
Props for the .30-06. 8 lug, I can respect that. Bulky safty is nice in gloves. Do the Cabin Fever Challenge this year, Ant too. More rifle content please. Look at the Springfield 2020 (3/4" MOA guarantee) or the Wilson Nula M20 (I think the MOA is about the same). The Sako 100 Explorer is something I'd love to see you take apart.
I was trying to cycle the bolt at speed and it didn’t eject the spent round properly and it then fouled the breach by bending the next round. The shop I bought it from sent it back to GMK who claimed the barrel was rusty… though it had less than 20 rounds through it and was properly stored. After much looking on forums, it seemed GMK has told a number of users the same thing. After much wrangling, they supplied me a new rifle for the price of a new barrel. The new one has operated well, but you do need to keep the bolt cleaned and oiled for it to be reliable. It’s spending more time in the cabinet as my Tika T3 has become my go to.
I'd like to have one of these but for some reason it isn't available here in the US in .30-06 (which is the chambering I want). And I don't care what type of firearm you are talking about as long as it is interesting.
I think beretta makes quality products but for the price they are charging id be looking at a Sako/Tikka. The Franchi Momentum/Horizon is also under the beretta banner and i think they are about the best budget rifle on the market, only gripe is the built in sling swivels.
Great vid! As a Canadian, I'd love to know more about moderators. How the UK uses them, restrictions, options, your own experiences with them. Something I really wish we could get here.
@@collinius i can tell you from Germany when you have a Hunting License you go to a Store and buy one no Paperwork in Front needed after you bought one we must go to our local County Administration and Register the Supressor like a Rifle it costs 15€ but we can buy as many as we want there is no limit and buying and Register a Supressor is as easy as it gets And yes a Supressor is worth every Penny you pay for them 30-40% less Recoil and 30-40db less Noise no need to carry Earmuffs for Hunting I have 2 Supressors both Rodale Hybrid 47SH+ and a Hunter 50XK
Here in the UK you have to apply for each gun and any modifications to that gun, such as a moderator. Regulations are put in place to limit the deadly potential of a firearms owner - the range, rate of fire and the ease of concealment are the main aspects of what makes a gun more 'risky'. Applying for a bigger calibre will warrant investigation into the reasons why you absolutely need a more powerful gun, but applying for a silencer is almost a given. The vast majority of UK shooters use a silencer, many ranges even require them and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t use them for hunting. I’ve never shot mine without it, don’t know why anyone would.
@JonnyD3ath on a Range yes on a Hunt no in open Country or in the woods this one or two Shots doesnt damage your Hearing when you have a Supressor on your Rifle the Roedale Hybrid 47SH+ i have tame a 308 under 120db this doesnt damage your Ears in a Hunting Situation
Thank you for your review. I heard that in the very beginning, this gun had some issues, fiering when the bolt was closed! Any idea if Beretta already solved this issue? Another concern: any chance that bolt safety fails and just hit you when fired? Appreciate your insight on these matters. These are the only answers holding me back in buying one.
As it pushes into battery, the bolt rotates as on a semi-auto. I think there is a computer generated graphic on UA-cam somewhere that helped me understand!
Why is there Ducktape on the Stock? Have you broken it already Johnny ? 😂 Jokes aside i have shot one in a Shooting Cinema (i dont use my own Guns in these cause 100 Shots or more in half a Hour is not what i do to my own Rifles 😉) and they Work good
I’d like to know where you find shooting clothes. Jackets etc. I’m 6’6” with a 38” sleeve and it’s a hard find. Not sure how tall you are but you appear pretty tall! Great content. Nice work 👍
I had one that detonated a round out of battery within 4 rounds, Beretta/ GMK conned me into giving it back to them and taking a Tikka as a replacement and then wouldn't give me any details on why it blew up and injured me, there are a good few documented cases of this same failure happening, the rifles are dangerous!!!!!!
@@raducirstoiu2253 no reason has been given, just that the report of what happened is a company sensitive document, yes I was using handloads , if it was the ammo that was a problem then it would have happened in battery, the failure happened when the round was out of battery on the forward stroke of the bolt.
I've tried to like this gun, but every time I pick one up...meh. If I lived where individual firearms have to be registered, I would give this multi-caliber option a closer look.
Been flirting with the idea of one and rebarreling/having the chamber bored out to 6.8 Western, keeps it legal (albiet highly overkill) for coyotes in Southern Ontario but ample power all the way up to moose. Seeing how easy the barrel comes off is great if I want other catridge options, but not sure if I misunderstood or if you are stuck with swapping out the entire barrel/rail/whatever you want to call it section? Was hoping with Beretta spec tolerances I could unscrew the one barrel and screw the next on and off I go (so long as the catridge rims match up obviously)
Plastic magazines are probably better, but I don't think anyone wants one.... everyone wants a metal mag on a hunting rifles, but I know if your buying a black plastic rifle it clearly for practically not aesthetics. On a wooden rifle definitely want zero plastic components.
But why is the plastic stock so bad? and fiddling to load single cartridges is annoying. TGS.. don't take dumb advertising offers please. Beretta brx isn't real beretta.
It may come as a surprise that I enjoy deer stalking as much as clay shooting. I just usually keep it seperate to the channel so I have something gun related that’s still private 😂
I must say one thing, rifles are not pretty, they are very functional, they are Hammers, no thrills, not pretty but very effective. (Shot guns are beautiful they have sole) just my humble opinion.
Been waiting for a good review of this rifle. Thank you. Have you given any thought of putting an AimPoint optic on it for your boar hunt? Most driven boar hunts I have watched, the shooters have AimPoints or something like it.

Approx 60 for sale in the UK right now compared to say almost 300 Blaser. As for straight pull designed for driven...I'm sure Mr Mannlicher would probably say otherwise as it was designed for the military roll on a few years to the K31...same purpose. The safety mentioned...probably need to rewatch that bit about 2 stage..."Set the gun to fire to empty it"...what? it's either safety on or off and no locking of the bolt... The plastic...sorry "polymer" is the cheapest plastic...yes plastic...you could possibly want on a rifle. Makes Howa stocks, the Hogues, seem to be made of steel. How unstable are those sticks on the cinema? There have been so many problems that Beretta in the UK, aka GMK, for a long period didn't even admit to the BRX1...oh and GMK also distributre the Stalon suppressor. Sorry to be so critical, but when you openly tell people that Beretta are "Filling your pension" and then do a review of a rifle known to be shocking...come on...change the name of the channel to "tBs Outdoors"....the Beretta show....
As much as I enjoy shooting rifles, please let this be your last rifle video. Your niche is shotguns and specifically shotgun shooting in the UK. There are way too many rifle channels on UA-cam and not many exceptional shotgun channels.

Rifle content! Yeah, finally. I’m a 50/50 rifle/ shotgun shooter myself. For rifles though, I place my stocks in Germany..😅

Beretta used to make a very good bolt action called the Mato (bear). It was, unfortunately, overly expensive and was eventually discontinued.
Had one. Broke it. Had lengthy row with GMK. Got a new one. Clean the bolt a lot - it doesn’t like abuse.
What actually broke ?
Thanks

Great hearing your take on the BRX1! Can you share more about the adjustable comb at 7:19 (green stock)?

More rifle stuff!
Great to see rifle content on the channel but why, on earth, 30.06?
Enjoyed this 👌
Nice rifle 👍
A great gun that is sub MOA. Mine is in .300 win mag.
They going to do a 223? Been hoping they will for foxing.
Your my favourite UA-camr
Pretty slick
How do the bolt lugs engage? How does it lock up to resist recoil, then it can just be pulled back?
As it pushes into battery, the bolt rotates as on a semi-auto. I think there is a computer generated graphic on UA-cam somewhere that helped me understand!
10:23 triggers and…. Mmm guns 😂😂😂
Been wanting to get this since it came out, this video didn’t help 😂 I like my Mauser M18, but I just want this one instead for some reason lol
Holland and Holland are a gun maker, ie they will make anything you want. If you have to brass.
How does it perform on clays?
Do they make .30-06 shot shells?
@tgsoutdoors yeah they do. Cyril Brewster swears by them when shot off the left shoulder
