The blue plates are taxis. Meaning: vehicles only meant for the transportation of people. That’s why you’ll find them on vans, but also on a S class. You were in my ‘backyard’ - Amsterdam. 😊
Another great vlog, I'm retired now but worked for a Dutch company for 20 years based in De Lier just down the road from the Hoek. Brought back happy memories of that route😃
Blue number plates in the Netherlands means the vehicle is a taxi and pays a different amount of tax. If a taxi doesn't have a blue licence plate it is an illegal taxi. Also, before 1978 all Dutch number plates were blue before moving to yellow as they are now.
Great Vlog Ben. Positive side of your job is you get to see some beautiful places. The downside I guess is the amount of time away from your family. Safe trip Buddy. Keep em coming. 🚚
You’ll have to do a trip to Ireland to get used to the ferry checkin paperwork - you get 4 with either Irish ferries or stena - yard pass, food voucher, cabin voucher and exit pass. Standard stena comms though, I could wobble your head with some of the nightmares with the self checkin machines in dublin and Belfast.
Great video again pal. Did the same last year, loaded flowers from Penzance and got on the same boat. Absolutely no idea where or what I needed to do. Simple signs/instructions would lead to a lot less questions needed to be asked 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Another good blog Daffodils to Holland? It is not RAF Culdrose it is Royal Navy Air Station (RNAS) Culdrose I spent a few years there in my younger days with the RN working on helicopters.
Most number plates in most number plates are yellow, but some use other colours to indicate use, Taxis are Blue, bright green indicate that the car being driven by a dealer, not all vehicles in Holland have to have number plates.
The Blue number Plates are for the Taxis, Looks like you where at Flora Holland Aalsmeer, the world's largest Flower Market, followed by Honselersdijk then Rijnsburg,
Excellent uploads from start to finish Ben. I’ve literally binge watched every thing you’ve uploaded over the past few evenings, very enjoyable stuff mate! Stay safe and we’ll catch up on the next one 👍🏼
I've watched a handful of your videos now. I lived in Europe almost 20 years ago now and it's very cozy to see a familiar but starkly different vibe compared to what we have here in Canada. I have been surprised to see that you've spotted two starkly North American vehicles in Europe - a Jeep at 12:37 and in a previous video, you saw a late 90's or early 2000's Ford F-250 in (I believe) Belgium of all places. Interesting! Cheers from Canada mate, fun videos to watch.
Hi Ben how are you doing ? I recognise Glastonbury Torr as me mum & dad stayed in Godney village just outside Glastonbury. & if memory serves me correctly Wells City is around 10-20 minutes from Glastonbury. Beautiful county is Somerset i love it down that way mate. My uncle stay’s in Frome which I also love. Beautiful town is Frome as you may know mate. 👍
Great to see you Ben, great video so far. The wetroom/toilets at the Scania garage is better than some restaurant/hotel facilities I've been to. When you drive through Glastonbury, if you keep going towards Wells, there's a great adults only campsite. You just keep on the road heading towards Wookey Hole, and its on the left, basically on the outskirts of Wells. They even have a couple of cars to hire out as well if you wish. We always took our cat with us on holiday, and they have a boulles pitch. Timber (our mainecoon cat) decided to use it as his toilet🤣- couldn't believe he did it. As you drive into Cornwall, brings back memories of holidays. Always stayed in Looe. Was there two years ago in June, and the weather was just blue sky all week. I always drive over Dartmoor to avoid Plymouth, obviously, you can't. Have been around 10 times, although not all at Looe, and have never had a bad week weather wise, always been sunny. Have to laugh when you're picking up plants for Holland. Like taking coals to Newcastle🤣🤣🤣. Regarding the blue number plates, reading up in Google, it shows that its a taxi and is registered for carrying passengers, and shows people that it is in, a taxi
Hi Ben, fab content as always can't believe you managed to get into them services at that time of night usually rammed. Tamar bridge has some lovely views going over have a fab week and he safe mate 👍👍
Absolutely brilliant, you crack me up😂. You have been down in Cornwall my home! Didn't know you came that far down.... will keep my eyes open now. Keep an eye on your mirrors now jenko will be chasing you in his 570 Iveco s way!! Keep the videos coming.... brilliant!
Hi Ben. I've been steadily getting into your channel having been sent this way by Jenko. A blue number plate in the Netherlands generally indicates a taxi or private hire car/limousine. Keep up the good work!
You certainly get lots of variety with your job but thank you for taking us along on the journey, you have become my guilty pleasure and a big improvement on my usual junk telly !! Thank you again and safe travels xx
It must be you as i never had any problems whatsoever with the staff at Stena in Harwich.. The blue number plates on cars in the Netherllands indicate that they are taxis.
Ah ok, must be me then. Just that on last weeks crossing no one had told any “new” drivers to report to check in once boarded (AGAIN) which caused embarrassment confusion & delays in the restaurant.
I think the blue number plates are used by taxis. I’m sure they pay a lower tax and use the blue plates so people recognise they’re a proper registered taxi
I believe you’re right mate & also pre 1977 cars so they pay less tax. Someone also said mopeds & scooters have blue plates as they’re restricted. Cheers Matt.
Hey mate!.Welcome to Holland. The blue number plates are for taxos/ car hire / uber etc. The first picture was of a Connexxion van, which is a major bus company. Good luck with the Dutch drivers and the terrible Belgian roads.
Had to google it but apparently Taxi plates " Taxi plates are mandatory since December 2000 for vehicles used to transport people, but which are not part of the public transportation system. "
