this was the best show on channel 4 at 1 oclock in the morning. me and my friends used to watch it all the time. well, if we were still awake, one is pretty late.l..
"Come on you two queers, we need to lick this problem before it turns around and slaps us in the nuts." Holy shit that's the best line I've ever heard.
The jump and explosion at the beginning kills me. This stuff is truly brilliant. I love every bit of it. "There wasn't enough story to fill the time slot. That's where slow motion came in..." hahahahaha
"The moonlight shone down on the place, unhindered. The gnarled parapets jagged upwards, like a bony hand of icy indifference. In the background, there was a pigeon. Who knew how long the place had stood there. Fourty years? Fifty years? Tempest immemorial, i.e. always. But it was a bad place, that much was certain. A very bad place indeed." - an excerpt from 'Black Fang', by Garth Marenghi
"i dont even have enough time to drink this water, im so busy" "ill have the coffee, instead of the water" --Oh yea! i havent had a cup of water yet.... wait, it IS the water -- hillarious =D
Of course you can love both Scrubs and Darkplace; the issue is that the two shows are apples and oranges. It's like trying to compare Inspector Morse to Keen Eddie based on the fact that they're both fundamentally police shows; that one similarity isn't enough to put them in the same class or genre.
This eve's tale of blood is an allegory, and as such I've included interviews with myself, my publisher Dean Lerner, and the actor Todd Rivers, so that we can tell you what it means.
@beefking69er And amusingly Darkplace was aired around the same time. Both Scrubs and Garth Marenghi's Darkplaceshows were on TV back in 2001. Darkplace is shot and produced (brilliantly) to look like it's from the '80s. Fun seeing what some of the cast for The IT Crows was doing back in the early(er) 2000's.
I agree -- that was AWESOME. But I felt so awful for Liz -- Sanch becomes a Neanderthal, but she regresses all the way back to being an ape after drinking LESS than Sanch. SO Darkplace!
It's quite literally nothing like scrubs. How did you even come to that conclusion????? It's set in a hopspital, like ER or casualty or green wing, but that's the only possible likeness.
Ha! There's this recurring theme of "admin" work in darkplace. It's so fucking dumb, it's genius! This is the greatest british comedy since the Fast show without doubt.
according to wikipedia, it didn't get good ratings at all. But it developed a cult following and DVD sales were pretty good. I think they're supposed to be making a movie version.
I didn't know that there was anything between the two shows. I mean, why would there be? Darkplace might take place in a hospital like scrubs, but there's huge differences between the two shows. Not to mention that Darkplace is just better. Scrubs is good, no doubt, but it's just not the same.
Lol I can't believe I'm about to try an defend Garth's logic witch is supposed to be flawed so by me defending it I will be pointing a to flaw in a strange ironic twist. here goes Dag says to Sanch, Liz and Reed that Sanch and Liz are at two different evolutionary stages hence why Liz is unable to speak and act sentient and Sanch is still very human with ape appearance.
um but i thought scrubs is kind of exactly a parody(which is a comedy that makes fun of an actual thing) scrubs makes fun of doctors by making them dumb. We even used it as an example in school when we learned about parody. oh and sorry if i sounded rude by commenting, didn't mean to =)
You guys are very polite with each other. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were being sarcastic. Thankfully, the topic is too stupid to argue about, so I know you're not being sarcastic.
I always laugh so hard when he says "In the background there was a pidgeon". GREAT IMAGERY
"Perhaps he could elucidate what's happened, but at this stage of the narrative, it'd be odd if he did."
Brilliant.
This is my favourite episode!!! I wish they'd do a second series.
Nice to see a little imput from the boys of the Mighty Boosh too
I like the way he pauses as he's about to drink the water, waiting for Dean to say his line
This show has and will be good tempus immemoria, i.e. always
I love how how when Liz drinks the water, she can't even stand upright anymore, but Sanchez is still capable of performing complex surgery.
"It's balls to the wall, flat out horror" so many great lines in this
this is so ridiculous! lmao "we were young, we were physically fit, and we were challanging logic"...genius!
My favorite subtle production "flaw" is at 5:08. Watch the eyes. These people are brilliant.
this was the best show on channel 4 at 1 oclock in the morning. me and my friends used to watch it all the time. well, if we were still awake, one is pretty late.l..
Thanks for being "straight" with me!
"Come on you two queers, we need to lick this problem before it turns around and slaps us in the nuts."
Holy shit that's the best line I've ever heard.
"What if a rat could drive a bus" - Absolute genius comedy!
The jump and explosion at the beginning kills me. This stuff is truly brilliant. I love every bit of it.
"There wasn't enough story to fill the time slot. That's where slow motion came in..." hahahahaha
I showed this to my girlfriend of 2 years. She did not get it. We do not speak anymore.
"Wanton will be all over me like knockers in a wind tunnel"
i have never laughed so hard
thank god for your comment on two shows that are different in style and wit. Thank you for comparing them together
"The moonlight shone down on the place, unhindered. The gnarled parapets jagged upwards, like a bony hand of icy indifference. In the background, there was a pigeon. I think that's the funniest opening credits sequence I've ever seen, hands down.
"i dont even have enough time to drink this water, im so busy" "ill have the coffee, instead of the water"
--Oh yea! i havent had a cup of water yet.... wait, it IS the water --
hillarious =D
someone I know thought the 'one track lover' song was actually an 80's music video
XD at Dean Learner punching a child actor
no no no, thank you dear friend for your intuitive observation of such a superficial gaffe; please except my condolences and utmost pity
"I led liz, now a sick parody of womanhood, down the corridor..." HAHHAHAHA
Despite the hospital setting, i don't really think they are comparable, due to them being very different sorts of comedy.
Darkplace is amazing though!
how odd that i would remember this one episode
after i only saw it once about 3 years ago..
anyways i wish this series was longer..
Of course you can love both Scrubs and Darkplace; the issue is that the two shows are apples and oranges. 'she was like a candle in a rainstorm, unrelyable.' lawlz!
"Here it be, a future shock that will shit you up".... hilarious!!!
my mouth feels like someone parked a carrrr in it
This eve's tale of blood is an allegory, and as such I've included interviews with myself, my publisher Dean Lerner, and the actor Todd Rivers, so that we can tell you what it means.
genius. its so funny when he's in the office and goes to walk out n and stops randomly. then ages later he says stop right there
@MrAluminumJacket Pure poetry. The pigeon adds to the horror like a pube on a pipe.
out of curiosity, how do you see it as being similar to Scrubs?
@beefking69er And amusingly Darkplace was aired around the same time.

A future shock that'll shit you up.
There is a DVD, but it was only released in Britain. Check Amazon for it.
lol i punched one of the child actors. BRILLIANT line! XD I love how purposely crappy they made darkplace, makes it sooo god dam hilarious!
Morning Dag, morning Thornton REED! 🤣
So many small things you may not notice at first, like the little look at the camera at 5:10
Darkplace reached the level of godliness in 6 episodes. Something Scrubs couldn't do in however many seasons they have done.
"Come on you two queers, we need to lick this problem before it turns around and slaps us in the nuts."
that car, I can't even fathom what is happening when he drives places. lol
I agree -- that was AWESOME. But I felt so awful for Liz -- Sanch becomes a Neanderthal, but she regresses all the way back to being an ape after drinking LESS than Sanch. SO Darkplace!
"Darkplace" was set in a hospital, it's been cancelled, and it starred people wearing clothes. That's where the similarities to "Scrubs" end.
It's quite literally nothing like scrubs. How did you even come to that conclusion????? It's set in a hopspital, like ER or casualty or green wing, but that's the only possible likeness.
Balls to the wall, flat out horror!
Wow. A 17 year old comment. I hope life worked out for you since the day you left this comment 👍
I love how Liz turned into an ape immediately while Todd Rivers is still ok
"A future shock that will shit you up."
Someone took a photo of it, blah, blah blah. cry, cry, cry. I dont see it as a problem.
in the background there was a pigeon! Yay this show is funny.
"I led Liz, by now a sick parody of womanhood, down the corridor."
"We were young. We were physically fit. And we were challenging logic."
Sanch remains standing upright and completely competent despite the toxin, while Liz instantly becomes totally primate.
any one notice the guy standing on the left in the vault as he's holding the film cannister, what is he doing?
I like how no one notices the water's green...
LoL "We were young, we were physically fit, and we were challenging logic."
dream weaver, plus actor
it sure is ! you gotta love that guy's voice ! x
Oh my god you're right! I knew he reminded me of someone lol
this show is so hilarious, its hard to tell if they're serious or not
Ha! There's this recurring theme of "admin" work in darkplace. It's so fucking dumb, it's genius! This is the greatest british comedy since the Fast show without doubt.
NEED DVD
Best show ever made
"Tempus Immamoria ie Always"
That was the fictional actress, though. Alice Lowe, her real name, is thankfully alive and well.
'Balls-to-the-wall, flat-out horror."
'a future shock, that will shit you up'
''In the background there was a pigeon''
according to wikipedia, it didn't get good ratings at all. But it developed a cult following and DVD sales were pretty good. I think they're supposed to be making a movie version.
Thank you for not appreciating the nonfigurative juxtaposition of my comment.
@McBitey1 dude, this was shot in 2004. it wasn't actually an 80's show.
styrofoam and plastic cups
"cheers"
*clink*
any one notice that noel fielding and julian barrett from mighty boosh are in this
This is indeed a future shock that shit me up
@TheShadowCross there is you can order ti online
LOL "we were young, we were fit, and we were challenging logic"
All over me like knockers in a wind tunnel bahahaha
no no it's okay, like I stated, to protect yourself when you know you're hundred percent wrong.
I heard they were in negotiations to make a movie based off this.
I love how doctors just keep nonchalantly whipping out guns Dirty Harry style in this show!
Genious!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't know that there was anything between the two shows. I mean, why would there be? Darkplace might take place in a hospital like scrubs, but there's huge differences between the two shows. Not to mention that Darkplace is just better. Scrubs is good, no doubt, but it's just not the same.
In the background there was a pigeon...
LOL @ "I led Liz, by now a sick parody of womanhood..."
Is funny because she's *always* a sick parody of womanhood.
no thank you for making a comment and then trying to defend it.
in the background there was a pigeon
@Hagar7 You left out a WHOLE lot lol. Like how it's a parody. Or that it's a show within a show.
" we need a slice of your loaf dag "
Darkplace... Man.. Seriously, i almost broke a lung laughing. Anyone who doesn't find this funny has NO sense of humour
but dag
Lol I can't believe I'm about to try an defend Garth's logic witch is supposed to be flawed so by me defending it I will be pointing a to flaw in a strange ironic twist. here goes
Dag says to Sanch, Liz and Reed that Sanch and Liz are at two different evolutionary stages hence why Liz is unable to speak and act sentient and Sanch is still very human with ape appearance.

XD Dean Learner back hand smacking a child actor
he'd better hurry or they'll need to start without him.
you do realise that all garth marenghi characters like madeline wool are pseudonyms...she wasnt actually kidnapped and 'missing presumed dead'
In the background was a pigeon.
At 1,45 he dedicates it to his wife Pam who deals with the bulk of his ______??? I can't make out that word. Help....
MORNING, DAG MORNING, THORNTON REED. WOULD EITHER OF YOU TWO LIKE FOR A GLHAS OF WAWHTUR?
You guys are very polite with each other. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were being sarcastic. Thankfully, the topic is too stupid to argue about, so I know you're not being sarcastic.
It's 3:58, why do want to know? all of this is so funny
