Five Points Concert in Review

Discovering Broadway, a pre-Broadway incubator, hosted "Five Points" in Concert on February 10th, 2023. We premiered the music from Broadway-bound musical Five Points at the Madam Walker, with music/lyrics by Douglas Lyons, music by Ethan Pakchar, and book by Harrison David Rivers.
The cast featured Tony and Grammy winner Jessie Mueller (Beautiful), Josh Kaufman (The Voice), Aisha Jackson (Frozen), T. Oliver Reid (Hadestown), Michael Wordly (The Color Purple), David Owens (The Voice), Morgan Wood (Hamilton), Jackson Mullen, and Scott Van Wyke.
Set in New York City following the Civil War, the story follows Willie Lane, a young African American performer at the famed Almack’s Dance Hall, and John Diamond, an Irish immigrant and former jig champion. Willie and John risk everything for the American Dream.
