  • The hands of Mark Knopfler taught the Dawes bandleader everything he needed to know about right-hand dynamics and the expressiveness of the Strat.

Taylor is one of the best songwriters of his generation and it is great to hear him talk about one of the greatest from another generation. Both fantastic players and writers.

A beautiful experience...all Mark Knopfler songs are exactly that.

Dire Straits music was gone? Must've happened while I was napping.

@@GerryBlue There was never a moment were they weren't at least a cult favorite among a substantial percentage of listeners. So no, I really don't know what you meant by "resurgence", wiseguy. But let's agree that it's nice that they're still being appreciated.

Omigosh; don't tell me you've never listened to MK's solo stuff; he's been putting out terrific records for decades. It doesn't matter that they don't make the charts anymore.

This was super cool to see and hear Taylor's take on Sultans. It's an incredible piece of music and I feel like it was such a unique piece of guitar mastery at that point in music. Loved Taylor's insight into the competing melody and rhythm are differentiated in the playing technique - hitting those bass notes behind the chord. Thanks PG for making this happen!

Knopfler and Gilmour, must be something in the water over there LOL The burst on 'brothers' is one of the sweetest burst tones ever, and I believe its his fingers not a pick. Mark is such a master of light touch. JMHO... 8) --gary

I don't really like Dire Straits that much, but I really liked this video. Always inspiring to see someone so passionate about guitar music.

Many people have played the Stratocaster and i am old enough to have seen most of them come and go. Mark is the reason i choose the Strat as my first guitar purchase in 1985... Not Jimi, not Dave, not Hank or Buddy... not Eric, or Eric... but Mark. The tone is as distinct as Brian May's... just nothing like it and it is such a natural tone... few play it. More distortion! ... is usually the call.

I had a feeling this video existed.. Goldsmith's playing style really compliments Knofler. Less is more in a world packed with emotionless showoffs.

Nicely said about tone, guitars, pushes, the relationship where the bass and the chords are, ghost notes, etc. sometime we should talk.

The whole first album is ace. It exemplifies what makes the Strat an oddball instrument. yet irreplaceable at that particular thing!
