Dam removal programs 🤨 The EU has programs to encourage the restoration of rivers to their natural state. Yeah because they won't work and they just send the water down to the next town to get double the flood. This is a Medieval town, it was built in a place safe from floods when the river was natural, twisty with flood plains and reed beds. Attempts to create an efficient river have caused this. But hey that's just science eh.
Don’t forget that drain covers can end up being forced up and you would have no idea that the cover is gone so even though it’s not that deep it’s still very dangerous as you can’t see in the dirty water.
How can a whole Main Street , centre flooded by one brick wall giving way in stream over spill. Not be seen by local people and do this amount of damage like , “ nobody noticed” it could or would eventually happen? ????
The water levels by the walled off brook is normally ten feet below and runs right along and through the town, it’s a medieval town in origin, and the local council cordoned off the street and blocked traffic so no one would have been around to see it, plus it was a Sunday morning so it was even quieter than normal. Tenbury and the surrounds floods every year but not to this extent, the flood defences (such as they were) failed spectacularly.
