It is not a bug imo. They have quite aggressive per app battery management. Go to said app info, disable battery restriction. OR in settings go to app batter saver, select app, select no restriction. Now push messages of said apps are not hindered.

that notification thing is a real deal breaker, had the same issue on an old Huawei for a few years back, was never fixed. I can't see myself upgrading from my S20 fe for a long time.
I disabled MIUI optimization and not facing any problem with notification. Btw, do your FE suffer from touchscreen issues? My friend got a FE LTE (Exynos 990) and he is facing a lot of problems with erratic touchscreen and phone heating up even while doing simple tasks like watching youtube.
I haven't had any problems with notifications. My only problem that started with miui 12 is that my SIM card is just not read by the phone and it needs to be restarted. Very annoying.
The notification "bug" has occurred on both my POCO phones (F1 and X3) across 3 different versions of MIUI. I don't consider it a bug any more, but a decision by the MIUI software devs who seem intent on stopping any app running ever - even when their phones have massive batteries and huge RAM. The menu settings can be set exactly as they should be, and still notifications randomly refuse to work for a while, then suddenly start again. They also mess with standard android settings to an extent that makes the use of things like Tasker very difficult,. Custom ROMs solve that problem (but introduce their own issues).The most annoying thing is that I like many things about MIUI - the recents screen and the gestures are great, video and game toolboxes have nice features - their hardware is generally solid, but they make it impossible to recommend to any 'normal' person because of the notification issues imo.
Have a Poco X3 as a spare phone and it's superb for the £159 I paid. What puts me off buying a more expensive Xiaomi is the apparent total lack of customer service in case of issues or repair in the UK. One look on Trustpilot confirming this has put me off paying out for a more expensive model.

MIUI has an aggressive RAM management i.e. killing background apps in order to get better battery life. We can get better RAM usage by disabling MIUI optimization in the developer settings. The trade off is a slightly worse battery life.
Yes there is other option but there are all expensive like S21,S20, even pixel 5 that cost around $600-$700 which doesn't even have the latest Snapdragon! It have SD 765G!

I love Xiaomi, its far better than Samsung. My last phone Note 5 pro, lasted 4 years. I am waiting for this 1. I am currently using samslug and this is my last samslug device, after using phones by samslug such as d800, 2 S3's, 1 S4, 1 Note 4, 1 S6, 1 S6 edge plus, 1 Note 9 and my current Samslug.

You can try this. First, go to settings and type AUTOSTART. Then toggle the notification for the apps you want. If that is not helping, next step is go to developer settings and disable MIUI optimization.
With Samsung I have the same problem with oneplus as well every android brand I tried always have that problem only not with Apple but I want something else ? And nobody of the company’s does know what the problem is
I've owned and fondled several Xiaomi handsets over the years, and enjoyed these phones immensely. Xiaomi has been a great alternative to Samsung and Google Android phones. Lately I found Xiaomi baked ROMs to be ad heavy, with annoying pop ups. I made the decision to go back to Pixel and enjoy a clean android experience. Another great vid my fellow bald bro. I know you don't like the phones with the Samsung chips, but I'm very excited for the 888 s21. Wireless Dex is fun, and to be fair, Samsung has the BEST mobile file manager (imo).
MIUI 12 is good launcher. I just bought Xiaomi Mi 10T and I was worried, how will it works (btw. my previous phone was Google Pixel 2XL with Android 11). After 2 weeks I can say MIUI works very well, runs smooth and without any problems :-)
The screen is 1440p with 120Hz, so definitely not a short. Headphone jack is not present in almost all flagships except LG and Sony. I agree with no water resistance being a drawback for some people. But the Mi 11 splash protection is enough for me tbh since I never got any phone I owned in water damage. My main complaint is the Mi 11 still using USB 2.0
Just sold my Note 20 Ultra and bought this. Had nothing but problems with the camera failing on the Samsung, had it repaired 3 times and Samsungs support and the way they treat customers is AWFUL, they wouldn't even replace the device despite it being repaired 3 times for the same issue! Will never be buying another Samsung product ever again and I have high hopes for Xiaomi!
Another phone without Micro SD support. Oh well I guess I have to look further and be stuck with my Note 20 Ultra for a while. Good to know that this is a S21 Ultra Killer. Shame I will be parting from Samsung Phones finally since Galaxy S2. Great review tyvm.

I like the Xiaomi devices but my 11 T pro only lasted 6 months, it is now in for repairs but was advised they do not have spare parts for them in our country. Hopefully they are going to give me a new device.

Thanks to your review I bought this device and sold my s20 ultra 2 months later I no longer can Use WiFi or hotspot I've reset the phone lost everything and still won't work the phone is a mean peice of kit but it's overheating all the time even when not in use I paid alot of money for my mi 11 and I'm absolutely gutted xiaomi are the worst customer service to deal with ever I'm having no luck whatsoever in getting my device repaired or replaced I've followed you for years and always gone with your personal favourites when it comes to smartphones but no longer I'm so angry
Xiaomi. Always made great products, and it's not just their phones. I like what mi 11 offers, but sadly, as with their other smartphone nowadays it's a mammoth in terms of size. Which is a shame because i use many of their products like mi band and wifi extender

I know you usually cover phones that are officially available in the UK and as of now the iQOO 7 is only offered in China but one of the reasons I am considering it (I live in the US) is because like my Realme X2 Pro now, it has many of the 4G LTE bands that will make using it in the US with no issues. I like that little trick, it's buried way down at the bottom of developer options. I also turned off the notify high risk features!

I had the same problem with emails coming in, but no notifications showing. I have a Note 9 Pro and when I updated to MIUI 12, it stopped happening.
I haven't had any problems with notifications. My only problem that started with miui 12 is that my SIM card is just not read by the phone and it needs to be restarted. Very annoying.

The notification problem can be tied to the "miui battery optimizations" that can be turned on/off for each app individually!
That didn't always fix it when I used miui, although that was a while ago.

It's easy to disable them. Takes 2 minutes. I get 0 ads on mi 10t lite.
For notifications turn off cache wiping when screen is locked, because it is killing running apps only, and not wiping that huge pile of app cache.

I just found this Mi 11 has that annoying ultrasonic proximity sensor from the company called Elliptic Labs.
Xiaomi always makes something in their flagships short in order to make it cheaper.. either screen, headphone jack, waterproof certificate etc..

About late notification not just mi 11. My mi10 also have same problem. I hope they fixed it.
