"The rune blade that you carry was forged by the Lich King and empowered to steal souls. Yours was the first one it claimed." Now tell me that that was not one of the best lines you have ever heard.
Such disrespect this current "Blizzard" did ending the character arc of Arthas the way they did. Sylvanas undermining him was such hypocrisy and the developers decided only to reintroduce him as this last pitiful wisp of what he once was is so lazy. No decent conclusion, no sense of relief for all those who were going to see Arthas for possibly the last time. No one is saying Arthas was a saint but all that he did was for his people. One deal out of ignorance of youth caused him to be damned to the very end. It was a classic trope of a hero doing all the wrong things for supposedly in his mind the right reasons. So saddening that one of the most favorite storylines is grounded to dust. Shame on Blizzard for disappointing us and ruining all the hard work that past and current employees tried to employ since the beginning of Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft.
Soldiers of the Scourge, Deathknights of Acherus, minions of the darkness, hear the call of a Highlord, the sky turn red with the blood of our fallen ! The Lich King whatching over us Minions!
Did you know the Lich King, Ner'Zhul, was never human? He was an orc necromancer, the same one who succeeded Gul'Dan as leader of the orcs and caused the annihilation of what is now known as Outland - all that's left of Draynor, the orc homeworld.
''I've damned everyone, and everything I've ever loved in his name, and I still feel no remorse, no shame, no pity.'' -Arthas Menethil When Arthas says ''And I still feel no remorse'' you can hear the pain in his voice, who he was before, but when he says ''No pity'' you can see it is the dark lord speaking.
Where is that quote from? With whom was Arthas speaking to when he said that? Just curious and a bit amazed of the voice acting done with that quote. Would love to hear the complete conversation as well. If you have a link, please do link it. =)
Book retconned lot of things, made Arthas more doubtful and so on. After Arthas took Frostmourne and lost his soul, he became loyal to Lich King, his zeal and love he felt for Lordaeron transitioned to Scourge. If you play Warcraft 3, you will see that as death knight Arthas sounds certain of what he does, he has no doubt or remorse in himself. That is because Frostmourne powers make him completely loyal to Scourge as he once was to Lordaeron and his people. Overall book does decent job of exploring Arthas past but doesn't explain or badly handles lot of already established facts.
dam, this really got to me. This is why arthas' lore is the best lore in Warcraft to me. The ending really got to me tho. when Malganis said his soul was the first, i just realized that was true. Goodbye Arthas, my king/master!
***** Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there's a point in either WotLK or Warcraft where it's stated that he lost his soul literally the second he touched the blade.
Excellent work! Wrath of the Lich King was definitely the best expansion... the lore was amazing and of course, ICC was amazing raid where we faced Arthas... The TRUE Lich King.... Indeed... Farewell Arthas, our brother.
+Tommy J the sad truth... we broke the game! we demanded yearly expansions! ultimately, we made Warlords of Draenor.... and we made a big mistake.... i have no hope for Legion... not yet, that is... LET THERE BE LIGHT IN CHRIS METZEN'S HEAD, LORD! LIGHT!
Haha, well mother's day in the UK is in March so she'll probably think I'm crazy, but sure - tell mother Hellscream that I said have a fantastic mothers day xD
the story of arthas reminds me of anakin skywalker from star wars; how he wanted to save the people he loved, in exchange for turning down to the dark path and betraying everyone he loved. and how his rein as a dark lord would only come to an end. IMO, anakin and arthas's stories are very similar. Like if you agree, or comment how you think im wrong
+OmegaCooper Gaming Well, but Arthas was completely right to purge Stratholme. If his friends wouldn't have abandoned him, everything would've probably gone different.
Amazing animation, its perfect! You show the best moments of warcrafts 3 and now, everyone who odnt play warcraft and watch this, knows what is going on, im proud of you.
I started playing the game early wotlk and the lore of the expansion totally captured my imagination. I absolutely loved the lore and the way this video puts it together is beautifully done. Nostalgia rush.. no joke. I will always remember my experience back in the days of wotlk.
I've watched this countless times, just makes me think it would be a magnificent film, the machinima seems like a trailers itself! Love your work Hellscream, stay at it :)
I agree with most comments, that this is a masterpiece, that Arthas is the best story of Warcraft, and so on. Yet I also wanted to thank you, for the ending and give us time to soak it in. No “joyful” interruption with a voice telling me to like and subscribe if I liked the video.. neither did the video cut too quick from the story and get spoiled by an ad. Also you didn’t change to upbeat music. Then more tiny quick cutscenes while we digest the story with the extra seconds you gave us. I’m grateful. I’m sure others may also think this way.
this is personally my favorite warcraft story out there with illidan coming in at 2nd place, arthas was once the defender of the light but when he tasted the power of frostmourne it was to late for him, goodbye indeed my brother, Arthas, for your brethren have fought beside you for so many years.
This video is so perfect. I can see the lore of all these characters and how sad it ends. Though the lore is sad, you made this video so well that I got emotional. Good job, keep up this work Hellscream
I love this lore so much, reading about it and listening to dialogue was one of the coolest Warcraft experiences of my life. Shame such an amazing fucking expansion had to go by so fast. Farewell Arthas.
"... yours was the first one it claimed." - I don't know, just the way he says this, the tragic tone in his voice, it gets me every time. This was the point of no return for Arthas...
For me, WoW doesn't die until Legion ends. Why? Cause, the Legion made the Scourge, and they (To me) are the main threat of the series. The Void are little more than small side threats.
I have to agree, but even tho Kil'Jaeden created the Undead Scourge through Ner'Zhul, the first Lich King, he lost control of it shortly after Ner'Zhul discovered Arthas.
The Arthas story line is amazing from the begging all the way tell his end! It's sad to see him suffer and make such hard choices witch lead to what he did! Also very sad that Uther could not stop him! Honestly this whole story line makes me love Paladins even more!
I really wish Arthas could have some kind of comeback...we know theres small boy in Northend who can symbol his pure part of soul...and which he killed. But him, still having Jainas Locket....maybe something still left? Or maybe i just wish he could come back to us, in glory. So do Kaelthas :(
I dont like the fact that the dwarf was alive, in the original war3 he died as part of the price arthas paid to get froustmourne . Still, nicely put together
Lebadura_ De_Pan if he really wanted to save his people he would listen medhiv's words.Entire game he seeks nothing but revenge, because of this he betrayed everyone who cared about him including his own people.
+L3ndzo83 Actually, the one true king is Arthas; as he was the greatest Lich King ever made within history, not only does he have the most tragic stories, a tragic love story with Jaina. ( Tyrande and Ilidan with Sylvanas and her sisters come close when it comes to a love story). An awesome raising story, and an amazing storyline of him transforming to the Lich king; killing off his purity in the form of a child aswell as his old master once he placed the Armor on; Ner'Zhul. Arthas is the most epic character I have ever known since I played WoW in 2004. I truly believe there shall never be another like Arthas Menethill.
L3ndzo83 Lol what the fuck is going on here? I am not a fan of WoW, but only placed that statement in my comment because I loved Warcraft 3 and how epic of a character Arthas was. It may be childish or juvenile as you say, but it is still my opinion. You cannot destroy it and place yours on top of it. Also, all that Hegster was doing was to outline the great parts of Arthas's story and not relating to WoW as a game as you did. Thus, you clearly made the difference here. You are the childish, dimwitted bastard who likes looking down upon to people who spend more time outside than him. You're good at the game, so fucking what. It's more than a game. The story behind it lives on and gives birth to some little things called feelings. Something you clearly lack.
L3ndzo83 Okay fair point there. But I played the game during my childhood and Arthas was the protagonist of one of the campaigns and his story really stood out. That's why he is the true king for me. Sorry! :)
L3ndzo83 Wow, to see everything you said about me clearly shows everyone who the unstable, immature person here is. All I was stating was the truth and nobody can doubt that his story is by far one of the best, sure the character may be dead right now, but as you clearly put it the "pawn" overthrew the master in the feild of his own mind, ( The distance between The Frozen Throne Warcraft III and WoTLK's time ) There lay a small glimmer of Arthas' main hope in the form of a small child who spoke to him saying. "Arthas, you have done many things evil, but there is still hope within you. You're able to change your ways" which made Arthas the Lich King stop at this point in time and think. With a quick muster of his hand he said before slaughtering the child. " No. I can not change from this path " sending Frostmourne to the childs' own heart, siphoning it's soul only to have Ner'Zhul laugh and congratulate Arthas on what he had become. " You are more powerful than you ever have been " with a few seconds gone the "pawn" overthrew Ner'Zhul by siphoning his soul into Frostmourne. And I am hoping you do know that Ner'Zhul was made the lich king by having Kil'Jadan rip Ner'Zhul's soul out from the body, placing it in the Armor of Damnation for the Orc to be known as the Lord of Undeath. If you did well then sorry. But there's no need to insult me :)
+Czaruje Sobie the dk you play is a member of the knights of the ebon blade. you are one of the few scourge members who broke the bond of the lich king and decided to take revenge for the atrocities he has done. "WE ARE DRIVEN BY A SINGLE PURPOSE, RETRIBUTION !"
Arthas was one of the greatest heroes in warcraft and villains. I will always remember him as one of my favourite characters just cause his turn to villainy was truly spectacular to watch. Turned his back on everybody he loved and became the king of the dammed.
lets all be honest, if the lich king defeated us, and united all of azeroth under the scourge, Deathwing would've been executed and risen to serve like sindragosa, the alliance and horde would've been dead and scourgified, even if the scourge did mange to get down to pandaland the pandas would've been cleansed, and the Sha couldn't have take control of the undead cause Arthas would be able to focus his whole might upon the old god demons, its debatably who would win bu a lot less death, and hellscream would've been scourgified in ICC so no WOD, so then the legion just invades, the very thing they created, instead of destabilizing the world, the scourge consumed the world, and united it a "pax scourgia" so to speak I just think Azeroth would be safe under Arthas
Gabriel its beyond simple, but ill try and make it even more simple, since Arthas would have taken over the world, undead creatures would be unable to procreate just like Windrunners problem, and since he already controlled all the existing Creatures he couldn't go about on Conquest to kill and Raise more as there is nothing left to raise, as Arthas has only the Corrupt Valkyr not the Light ones that can Raise Dead Creatures, the Corrupt Valkyr can only reanimate them and can only do this to creatures that have only been dead like 24-48 hours, while the pure ones revive them and bring them back to live entirely, so since arthas would control everything and everyone (with the etc of Me'dan, Odin and Tyri) he would have no one left to conquer, raise and by default kill. meaning in the long run, far less death as new generations could not be reproduced and not sent to them Death, so less death. Better?
Maybe Arthas was planning the same thing as Illidan - the salvation for Azeroth via extreme measures and dark forces fighting at their disposal. Illidan did some heinous things, but he saw the might of the Burning Legion and thought he was morally justified to stop them, no matter the cost. And Arthas... he also had to know much about the Legion. His mind merged with Nerzhul's. Nerzhul was tortured by Kil'Jaden for a very long time and ultimately was given powers by him, just like Illidan was given powers by Sargeras. So Arthas too had to know what danger the Azeroth is in. He also had to precisely know about the might of the Legion. In Warcraft 3, the Lich King was also said to be having psychic skills, as he was able to predict the future. He too had to know that Legion would one day come and destroy the world. And no matter if Arthas could kill and reanimate all living beings on Azeroth, I don't think he could match the Legion just with numbers. The Legion numbers are almost infinite. So he also had to harvest dark powers to have the upper hand over them. Maybe he was about to make allegiance with Yogg Saron, or maybe even trying to enslave him against the Legion. Probably the latter. (Yogg Saron said that no king rules forever... just like Terenas... maybe Yogg Saron wanted to evade his enslavement by appearing as Terenas Menethil in front of the heroes to guide them to kill Arthas.) Arthas's preparation against the Legion might also be the reason why he didn't release the Scourge upon Azeroth outright, despite it was said that Scourge was so powerful and mighty, that even leaderless, it would just wash over Azeroth like locust devouring everything. He was fortifying his positions against the Legion. And he was also trying to cherry pick the most powerful champions from the Alliance and the Horde to convert them. If he just invaded Azeroth and killed everyone as quickly as possible, he would sustain greater losses and he would not know which heroes to reanimate and grant powers to be his ultimate champions. Also, the trials those champions had to face were designed to strengthen them. If this is really what Arthas was doing, I hope we will be told about that one day.
Farewell Arthas. My Brother.
I alwayss knew the last lines can be more emotional than a whole novel ;-;
King Terenas Menethil i heard your voice once in The Ruins of Lordaeron you could have avoided your death and your son's too
I thought he was gonna show off his cool new armor but it turned out he wanted me dead :(
ok btw why not listen to Medivh you could have avoided your and your son's death that way
medivh was kinda obnoxious. But would you listen to a raggedy homeless who told you to leave your ancient kingdom?
if only i been able to stop ya that day, how different things might have bin.
..... farewell Arthas, My brother.
gets me everytime ...
same when you give jaina her Locket
oh really ?
Yeah i think we stopped that from happening lmao we stop the bronze dragons from stopping Arthas go there and many other things
@@isteliosiv9927 You mean infinite Dragonflight. Bronze ensures timeline stays intact.
with how classic rolls out, its incredible blizzard didn't think to rewrite the story, and make a pararel timeline.

Arthas will always be the King of WoW. His kingdom died with him.

sorry for late reply but actually illidan is real king here of WOW.....

A rightfully deserved tribute for the one true Lich King. Well done!

Lol what the fuck is going on here?
L3ndzo83
Okay fair point there. But I played the game during my childhood and Arthas was the protagonist of one of the campaigns and his story really stood out. That's why he is the true king for me. Sorry! :)

Wow, to see everything you said about me clearly shows everyone who the unstable, immature person here is. All I was stating was the truth and nobody can doubt that his story is by far one of the best, sure the character may be dead right now, but as you clearly put it the "pawn" overthrew the master in the feild of his own mind, ( The distance between The Frozen Throne Warcraft III and WoTLK's time )
There lay a small glimmer of Arthas' main hope in the form of a small child who spoke to him saying.
Love every single bit, specially Darion's speech!
This was deep
1:50 when she mad when you finish early
you can't just -
IT'S DONE!
I instantly deleted my DK after watching this video.
Why?
I just realized that i find myself comfortable in being Paladin, someone who fights against darkness.
Yeah. Death Knight is the most awesome class in all of WOW
+Ronin Bauer (Human Death Knight) For you, yes. But not for everyone :)
Thanks for putting this together Krucial, It's so nicely done, Muradin would be proud.
Long Live The King may his rain last even in Death
After just finishing "Arthas: The Rise of the Lich King" this really makes me feel sad! Nice machinima!
05:03 T.T miss uther,arthas...
Arthas was one of the greatest heroes in warcraft and villains. I will always remember him as one of my favourite characters just cause his turn to villainy was truly spectacular to watch. Turned his back on everybody he loved and became the king of the dammed.
"FATHER, IS IT OVER?" - "No my son, raid resets next Tuesday."
ROFL😂😂😂
kek
shut up.
LMAO
A beutiful video, Hellscream... Brings back so many good old memories. Warcraft universe was always a different life for me. Thank you really.
lets all be honest, if the lich king defeated us, and united all of azeroth under the scourge, Deathwing would've been executed and risen to serve like sindragosa, the alliance and horde would've been dead and scourgified, even if the scourge did mange to get down to pandaland the pandas would've been cleansed, and the Sha couldn't have take control of the undead cause Arthas would be able to focus his whole might upon the old god demons, its debatably who would win bu a lot less death, and hellscream would've been scourgified in ICC so no WOD, so then the legion just invades, the very thing they created, instead of destabilizing the world, the scourge consumed the world, and united it a "pax scourgia" so to speak I just think Azeroth would be safe under Arthas
Yes but the scourge betrayed the legion.
A lot less death.. what? How?
(Yogg Saron said that no king rules forever... just like Terenas... maybe Yogg Saron wanted to evade his enslavement by appearing as Terenas Menethil in front of the heroes to guide them to kill Arthas.)
Arthas's preparation against the Legion might also be the reason why he didn't release the Scourge upon Azeroth outright, despite it was said that Scourge was so powerful and mighty, that even leaderless, it would just wash over Azeroth like locust devouring everything.
Salazar Ravenclaw the scourge we're and will always be the creation of the burning legion they are far supperior
This is so moving I'm so moved and proud! You deserve more sub's!
