Thank you Professor for your rage and pain over so many years. I'd like to mention that another great book exposing what's going on with the chosen group is The Holocaust Industry by Norman Finklestein. Comprehensive and eye-opening.

Thank YOU for the recognition. Also, Norm Finkelstein is the best. My book cites his books multiple times.

Hearing this discussion has been salve for my soul. Thank you. I've watched, first in disbelief, then with hope Canada would be front and centre on the international stage against this murderous, horrific genocide of the Palestinian people. And now, over 10 months later, I still can't believe my ears and eyes, but I am in a constant state of grief and rage. We've lost any claims to decency and morality.

At least our grandparents generation who witnessed the rise of Naziism and the horrible atrocities that issued from that regime were able to respond appropriately with it’s destruction and subsequent legal trials, while this generation not only seems to ignore this new holocaust, but actually lie on its behalf and indeed perpetuate it.

To be fair it took them quite a while to do that, and at the time of World War 2 NOBODY was joining the army 'to stop the genocide'. We are seeing more opposition now from people than we saw concern about human lives at the start of world war 2.

I'm very ashamed of Canada. This government does not represent me and is very amoral. It's sickening that Canada supports a genocidal government and I hope in time Canada gets convicted of enabling genocide. We now know now that Canada does not believe in International law and International Human rights. There are so many changes we need to make in this country.

I fear the people with the power are completly captured by the AIPAC type groups ?? Like the Americans. Are they ,and what can be done ?

And they keep talking about 'foreign interference' from China.

    From the book's backcover blurb:
What is the life of a Palestinian worth to intellectuals in Canadian universities and news media? Analyzing the Israel Effect documents and analyzes the discursive and organizational methods by which public criticism of Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians is silenced in Canada, as experienced through ten episodes in the life of the author over a thirty-year period from 1990-2020 in interaction with his university and local and national Canadian news media.

contd: As a sociological work the book is a critical autoethnography. But it is also an atrocity tale, a horror story of institutional self-censorship amounting to the abrogation of intellectual responsibility by those specifically charged with upholding it. In the end, the book is a crossover between academic treatise and journalistic exposé, “a historical narrative written by an academic from the standpoint of a political participant-observer” (Rajan Philips).

How does it work & key focus: The Israel Effect itself is analyzed as a three-tier propaganda industry. Hasbara is produced in Israel (Tier 1), disseminated to Israel Lobby groups around the world (Tier 2) and independently re-produced, actively and passively, by the “intellectual” institutions - universities and news media (Tier 3). This book is about the non-Jewish, non-Zionist institutions of Tier 3, the onlookers to war crimes, ethnic cleansing and, arguably, genocide, as in Gaza in October-November 2023.

Target audience: This work stands as a compelling testament to the importance of preserving freedom of expression, and the vital role intellectuals play in challenging injustice and promoting transparency. It is ideal for scholars, activists, and anyone seeking to understand the complexities of political activism and the power dynamics behind public discourse.

I didn't realize that Canadian politicians were also bought.

I have a concerns regarding people who are legally allowed to sexually assault someone, not have their identities recorded for behaving in such a manner, then traveling to my country where they might behave in the same way. Sexual assault isn't legal in Canada, why should we welcome those who do it?
