I agree with Grace on the kids and UA-cam thing. Remember all the pictures your parents took when you were little that they now have the urge to share with your friends/significant other :) Imagine those being shown to people all over the world. And some people are just troll and will post negative comments for no reason. Leaving your kids out until they can choose to be in a video is for the best. Besides they will be your kids and you should raise them how you choose.
I don't really understand this concern. I love my old baby photos, and it may be that the kids will one day wish they had *more* photos of their childhood, as I do. I really don't understand the baby trafficking concern. There are lots of things to worry about with kids, but that one isn't high on my list.
grantcivyt pretty much the first but there had been times where the buyers come looking for the real baby, even cases where the seller gives the buyer doxed info on the parents, including the address to go kidnap the child
In terms of the whole baby thing, it's totally up to you guys. Grace please don't feel guilty if people keep pestering to see your kids or pestering you to get pregnant. It's your two's child, no-one else x Wishing you both health and happiness.
I just discovered your videos tonight. I’ve sat here and watched 5 in a row and I must say that I find them to be very entertaining. I feel like what I find to be most compelling about your videos is the dynamic that I see going on between you two. Both of you just seem so close to one another. You’re having all of these new experiences together and it doesn’t seem like you’re taking anything in your life for granted. You’re both grabbing life by the horns and it’s REALLY inspiring. I like seeing you two in your apartment, cooking with one another, sitting down having a great meal together, having out of the ordinary fresh experiences, but also doing mundane everyday things. It all feels so very romantic and real. It’s obviously very neat to learn all of these new things about Japan as well. My lifelong best friend stayed in Japan for a few months and lived on a farm with a young couple. He helped them build greenhouses on their farm over the course of a few months. The stories he had to tell me were certainly very very interesting to me, so watching your videos is a bit of an extension of the curiosity that he sparked in me. Keep making videos, please. You've earned a longterm sub. PS im from the US. Ohio.
I agree with letting them choose. I mean, when they're old enough to have an opinion that they can voice, it's definitely a choice they should be allowed to make for one. However, as parents having this type of concern this early in the game totally demonstrates how aware you guys are. Frankly I'm just glad!
You're not familiar with that extreme hide& seek game show in Japan?:> Kids being stuffed in walls, with new wallpaper over it. Etc. I forgot what it was called, something with 100,000 yen?...
I find it kind of creepy that people are so quick to ask youtubers when they will get married and when they will have children. Those are such huge life decisions. I realize that they are happy occasions, and that people want you to be happy but... I also sometimes think people want to see weddings and babies just because they think it's cute. They're bugging complete strangers to hurry up and make life changing, difficult, complex, and very private decisions just because they think it'd be oh so cute. To me, that's just rude! Your life pace and life decisions are your own!
LaCeiba1924 That's not creepy. Its just normal. I have had family members I met that same day ask me every personal thing to the moon. I have been asked "when will you get a boyfriend" or even assumed I wanted kids. Its human nature that when you see a couple you wonder when they will take the next steps. It's not weird to ask questions regarding their past but its weird to ask questions regarding their future? Everyone asks these question and they are only creepy and offensive if you let it be.
In the case of relatives, I find that more annoying than anything. People shouldn't assume, they shouldn't pry, and they shouldn't nag you to hurry about such large life decisions. The fact that it's common doesn't mean it's necessarily ok. You also need to consider *how* the person asks the questions. If you look at many youtubers who are in relationships, you'll notice they get quite of bit of comments nagging them or pushing them to get married or have kids, making assumptions that they even want kids, or speculating that they're pregnant without any reason to think so. And THAT is what I find creepy. The fact that people will ship people on the internet and fervently speculate about and pry into their personal lives.
However, regardless of how people ask, "When are you having kids?" do realize that you are basically asking, "When are going to have unprotected sex with your husband/wife?" and that's just CREEPY. And rude.
I know the feeling XD Actually they used to post more videos before (about 7/8 per month), not sure if something's changed recently, if they have more work or focusing on other projects. But yeah love them, they are awesome!
Buy Grace's comic books, then you can read them while you're waiting for more videos. They're adorable and fabulous! No, she didn't tell me to say that- it's just what I've been doing. :)
true, and I wish she stopped regretting the beginning in Japan, ... one learns and living in the past doesn't help, ... I would like to have a cauliflower head rather than banana one, .... did he say banana and two persimmons, ha ha haaaa
I love your point about kids not being able to consent to having their images online... I feel like a lot of people get super excited and post a ton of pictures and video online, not considering that they can't really take that back later. It's one thing to overshare you own life, but it's another to overshare someone else's, particularly if that person doesn't understand that it is happening.
Who knew watching a Q&A could brighten up my mood so much :D. Wishing you two the best with the kids planning. You could always film the process of raising kids for yourselves and never post them online :P!
You both are such beautiful people. Grace being introverted and Rysoke being so extroverted crazy and doesn't care. I really enjoy your vlogs. Please let him make more simple easy cooking videos. Much love!
I find it very commendable and thus support you wholeheartedly in your decision to respect your children's right to privacy! I was actually planning on leaving a comment urging you to do so should an opportunity make itself available, but thankfully there apparently is no more need for that! Good on you!
I've been married for 19 years with four children. I also have my Japanese "daughter". She came to America as an exchange student 12 years ago. Ever since, she's been family and has been back to see us many times. She went to school in Sendai and lives in Osaki. Now she's married with a 3 months old. I'm so proud and my heart is bursting! Anyway, I fell upon your channel doing research for our upcoming trip to Japan to see my beloved Haruna and meet her baby Yuya and husband Yusuke. I have to say I adore you two!!! So now instead of researching, I'm binge watching! Lol!!! "The cuties in Tokyo show, bing!" ;)
A very reasonable stance on the kid thing. Personally, I'll probably share only the most inoffensive pictures of my kids when the time comes. But, I don't have the same kind of internet presence as you guys. Your kids will probably appreciate you keeping them offline at first. I've also experienced the isolation thing first hand. And you're right, it really sucks! We're moving again soon and I'm basically going to put all my effort into building us a new social circle as soon as possible. It's easy to take that kind of stuff for granted but it's so important.
The one piece of advice I will give you about the whole kids thing...there is NEVER a good time for kids. Don't over think it, if you want to have kids...get started lol life is to short. If you are like I am and can't have them...then enjoy yalls life! Have fun and spend it together. LOVE YALL!!
Candice Rubio I couldn't agree with you more!! I have wanted children since I can ever remember, and it took me two years to get pregnant the first time. I remember when we were packing up to leave the hospital they handed me my daughter, and this wave of surreal panic swept over me and I thought, "Wait...what?? You mean you are going to give her to me? Oh. My. God!!! What do I do now?" You are most certainly never, ever prepared-no matter how many you have. You just have to close your eyes and leap.
My brother kept waiting for the perfect time, then our father died, and he concluded that if he continued to wait for the perfect time there would be no grandparents around to share with. Eleven months after our father died, my brother and his wife had their first baby.
I really liked the part when you talked about your first months in Japan, Grace. I feel like this happens to me allot, like over the course of the past few years. I do get to new places, work and living situations and not even in different countries. I just find myself failing at reaching out to people. It is so tough. It is just nice and I appreciate it that you share your thoughts and feelings about it. And thanks to you and Ryosuke for making these fun and entertaining and often thoughtful and caring videos! :)
03:11 Grace's "in love smile" just made my day. Been an subscriber for an while but it's my first appearance on the comments so I need to say this: You two are the cutest couple I have ever seen in my life xD Cheers from Brazil!
7:10 That's the reason my sister puts up absolutely no pictures or videos of her kids anywhere. At first she not even made stories in WhatsApp. Later she started doing that, but only "we went on a trip to here" type of things and always put something over the faces or her kids, if they were visible. For the same reason - Social Media will be enough pressure for them one day, they don't need to have their baby pictures all over the internet for everyone to see.
Dude, I totally get you on the poop thing hahaha! Especially when you have an amazing crap, you can look at it with a measure of pride and say, "Yeah, I made that."
Your video really struck me. I've been living in Japan for the past 7 months. I haven't been reaching out to anyone. It has caused me to feel super home sick and very depressed. I stay at home all day doing nothing. The only person I talk to are my friends through facebook and my husband who is gone most of the day. I really should be reaching out more and start making new friends. I thought I was the only one... you had the same experience. It's really encouraging that I'm not alone. That other people have gone through the same thing.
I think you are right about not posting your future kid's lives on social media. I am always amazed at how much insight the two of you have. You are very well matched ! ♥
A month later..."We are going to have kids soon". That was fast, I guess you guys are great at making decisions and calculating risks. I wish you all the best :)
Please keep up your videos. It is a breath of fresh life to hear about your lives together and each of your work amidst 24/7 news channels and worldly chaos. I also connect because my girlfriend and I are from different cultures and we both value similar things with you two. Thanks!
it's so nice to see a couple like you guys...like there are so many divorce stories I hear about these days both in the news and around me, but I watch you guys and it's kinda comforting to be able to think "yup, these two will definitely last until the end"
Grace is so cute when she's embarrassed :) So glad you guys met and married cause now we have this awesome channel and Grace's hilarious comic! Neither would be the same without this perfect combination of personalities.
Can't wait to watch this! Seriously become very obsessed with your channel! I love it! Feel like I've watched quite a lot of them. Wish there were more :-( hope you've had a lovely day!! :-)
When I first moved to canada I did the same mistake and I didn't go out anymore and I got social anxaity for 2 months and it was so hard but now im doing volunteer work and im much better now
You two make me feel all warm and snuggly inside. I would love to see pictures or hear you describe the personalities of your families. What are your siblings ages? What do your parents look like?
Btw thank you for answering my question (asked under my Twitter name))....Ryosuke, of course we know you are smart, btw! LOL! You two are so adorable and fun to watch!
I never had any interest in Japan (or Texas for that matter) until I started watching your videos. You two are a delight to watch and listen to, and I'm happy I randomly ended up on your page!
I think it's a good thing to think about social media and what to do when you have children. Aureylian (a gamer youtuber I follow) has a daughter and she hasn't had her daughter in her videos until her daughter started asking to be in the videos (and even then she took some time to think about it). She still doesn't use her daughter's real name. She always calls her Boo.
Just started watching y'all. Y'all are a hoot!!! I'm from Dallas, (I'm in Florida now)and have always been interested in Japan. I think you've got a new fan. All the best.
I love you 2, so great together. I appreciate your decision about kids & social media. All our grand babies are on there but the youngest has a mother that doesn't go a day without posting a picture - it bothers us. She's 6 and there's hundreds of pics on all forms of media. There's so many bad people out there, scares us🎈
This was an amazing Q&A! I missed it though, but I don't use Twitter (less social media, less problems, I say). Really enjoyed the humor. Also I love how Ryosuke delicately weaved around saying "Honey badger don't give a shit!" as he said things like "doesn't care" and "does things its own way." We know what you really wanted to say ;)
I agree with y'all about not having kids in your videos. There are photographers , bloggers, and vloggers coming under fire for putting very personal and potentially embarrassing things about their children online, which, like you said, the children can't really consent to. More importantly, I think it puts even more pressure on kids to try to be "cool" or look a certain way based on comments on the videos or from schoolmates who might see the videos.
You two are so funny. Always, without fail, i get in trouble for laughing out loud, or my co-workers want to know what's going on. i can't help it, you're funny. Thanks for making my day :-)
I wanted to say I am proud of you guys. You both are sweet and are relationship goals. You will be wonderful parents. I enjoy watching your videos. I get sad often at night. Your videos help a lot.
Not having kids is also an option, as I'm sure you both know that having kids isn't a necessity for a happy marriage. :) I *love* my niece and enjoy spending time with her, but I also enjoy the fact at the end of the day she goes home and I get my nice quiet home back with my hubby. ^^
Had a very similar experience when I followed my husband to America, we lived in a small town in TX and I didn't drive back than, couldn't work because I was waiting on my papers and it was very hard for both of us. A lot of wasted time on playing video games all day, I could have learned a whole new language or something. :D
You guys are absolutely awesome... Planning Machu Picchu here, but that won't be for a couple years, next one here is Costa Rican treehouse hotels ziplining through the jungle with toucans over crocodile filled rivers
I completely agree with you about children not being able to consent to being online. I really respect your decision to stop your UA-cam channel while you start your family. Even if it goes me an that I miss watching you both. I hope you are both doing really well. And I love watching your old video's. X
Kind of an odd question I guess, but knowing Grace is from the South and Ryosuke's been there as well: How well do you think a Southern Food type of restaurant (BBQ, sweet tea, cornbread and biscuits, various beans, pies, etc.) would fare in Japan, and what kind of adjustments (aside greatly reducing sugar content) would likely have to be made to the food to suit the Japanese palate?
XD you two are the best! I am hopefully coming to Japan next year with my friend amd it would be so cool to meet up with you a talk about art and fun stuff ❤✌
I wonder if the fact that you felt so lonesome when you first moved to Japan plays in to how your youtube has turned out! I mean, as a fellow introvert, I know how hard it can be to make new friends - it seems to me that the time alone may have really helped your drive to reach out to others, and now look where you guys are! Just the thoughts of a random person. You both rock :)
Haha, I'd like a house inside an airplane too XD actually lately I've been looking at so many "tiny houses" and I really love some of them and the whole concept ^^ That was really funny by the way, when you realised he didn't want to buy a house XD
This got really awkward in a cute way on some of the questions.:-) It made me smile. Though it helps that you were honest about everything. And yes, the two of you are like Gon and Killua. :-)
Not going to lie, stacking your fridge with a bunch of food is really romantic. haha
I tried my best :D (Ryosuke)
I agree with Grace on the kids and UA-cam thing. more so baby trafficing, where deep web users use random online pics to sell other kids
I don't really understand this concern. I love my old baby photos, and it may be that the kids will one day wish they had *more* photos of their childhood, as I do.
I really don't understand the baby trafficking concern. There are lots of things to worry about with kids, but that one isn't high on my list.
grantcivyt
if you were a parent (unless you are then i dont know)
Yes, I'm not a parent. Are you saying it's an irrational, emotional concern that comes from having kids or you're actually able to explain it?
grantcivyt
pretty much the first but there had been times where the buyers come looking for the real baby, even cases where the seller gives the buyer doxed info on the parents, including the address to go kidnap the child
I can just picture your future children being told the worst dad jokes
Ryosuke is so damn adorable the way he looks at you. True love!!!
Your smile at 3:11 was cute when you recalled Ryosuke calling you beautiful.
Was a lovely story ☺️
In terms of the whole baby thing, it's totally up to you guys. Grace please don't feel guilty if people keep pestering to see your kids or pestering you to get pregnant. It's your two's child, no-one else x Wishing you both health and happiness.
Ryosuke is just the epitome of cool... You're awesome dude, probably the most real youtuber I've seen :)
Awww thanks!! I am really happy to hear that!! I don't even know if I am qualified to be called a youtuber~ haha (Ryosuke)
omgggg cutting all the girls makes me so mad lol
And then on the other hand we have Jessie Graff in America (my hero)
+Rachel & Jun Riggghhhtttt???
Ugh. It was such an (ugly) shock.
Jessie is so freaking amazing, by the way. Major girl crush.
i like that you won't be putting your kids into your videos and social media and all that, really is a smart move and very thoughtful!
jourdan beesler yes, I love it...and that it is an awesome thing.
Thanks for supporting! I really appreciate it (Ryosuke)
Awhh at the huge smile on grace's face when ryosuke mentioned she was beautiful while sick
I just discovered your videos tonight. I’ve sat here and watched 5 in a row and I must say that I find them to be very entertaining. PS im from the US. Ohio.
OMG, now that you mention it, Ryosuke IS exactly like Gon!
Right? RIGHT??
:D
His biggest regret is a poor hoodie choice....he's my hero lol
Update...new biggest regret: saying he doesn't want a house
I agree with letting them choose. I mean, when they're old enough to have an opinion that they can voice, it's definitely a choice they should be allowed to make for one. However, as parents having this type of concern this early in the game totally demonstrates how aware you guys are. Frankly I'm just glad!
I just wish they'd come back 😭
The Poop mission bit had me rolling 😂😂 you're both too awesome Grace and Ryosuke!
Lol. Ryosuke makes me laugh in every video. He seems like he's a really fun guy.
7:25 What if they already have 4 kids and we don't know because they aren't 16-18 yet? I want to believe!!
i think there would be more stress evident in the videos, and clues... like toys, jump cuts etc
A nice thought but can you imagine 4 kids in that tiny apartment?
thats not impossible in asia
True. They can get pretty efficient there. Hard to hide all the evidence tho :-p
You're not familiar with that extreme hide& seek game show in Japan?:> Kids being stuffed in walls, with new wallpaper over it. Etc. I forgot what it was called, something with 100,000 yen?...

When you don't think about adoption, artificial insemination, or surrogates, I'm sure that is creepy. More than one way to have a child.
i really really love when you see how grace is telling the story of when she were sick. you literally can see the love in both faces
"You made me a planet? Aww, thank you." LMFAO! I love you guys already.
Post Videos more often please. I'm a new subscriber since yesterday and i just caught up on all of your videos xD
Been there!
well that sounds veeeery familiar :D
lol.. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feel this way.
I know the feeling XD
Actually they used to post more videos before (about 7/8 per month), not sure if something's changed recently, if they have more work or focusing on other projects. But yeah love them, they are awesome!

Perfectly Hopeless ikr
Love Avatar! You two are a bit like Sokka and Princess Yue. Plus Ryo could probably do an amazing "My cabbages!" impression. ;)
I want to be the cabbage guy! haha that would be awesome! (Ryosuke)
We've been rewatching Avatar with our kids and my boyfriend always says "My Cabbages" when we're in the produce section in the supermarket.
"My poop hats!"
Just got recommended this and to know now y’all are still happy and in love with kids just fills my heart so full! 💗
Ryosuke's sweater story was the saddest thing i've heard in my life
I had to hold a loud laugh in during the middle of the night. Ryosuke is hilarious

That tickled me 😂

I study chimpanzee baby poop for a living. Until Ryosuke, I thought I was the only one in the world who loves poop and talk about poop all the time!
My primatology professor, first day of class, introduces himself by saying "I study shit. who can tell me why I do this?"
Cool! I'm a primatologist too. What is your prof's name?
I'm so terrible with names. I took the class a while ago. I think it's langergraber.
HeyHay Awesome! I know him. He is co-director of the field site I work at. :)
wow! small world :D
Moving to a new country can be very hard. She is on the mark when she said make friends quick.
Love your videos! I am making my way through your past videos also to catch up. Cute couple! Bless you both!
Please keep up your videos. It is a breath of fresh life to hear about your lives together and each of your work amidst 24/7 news channels and worldly chaos. I also connect because my girlfriend and I are from different cultures and we both value similar things with you two. Thanks!
Thumbs up for respecting your future kids privacy until they're old enough to decide for themselves.
No matter what the topic, your videos are always a joy to watch.
Your channel is one of my favorites. And, you two are so awesome together.
Lol!! Omg the hoodie regrets. Was not expecting that. So funny! And I feel your pain. Nothing worse than new clothes that don't work.
it's so nice to see a couple like you guys...like there are so many divorce stories I hear about these days both in the news and around me, but I watch you guys and it's kinda comforting to be able to think "yup, these two will definitely last until the end"
Grace is so cute when she's embarrassed :) So glad you guys met and married cause now we have this awesome channel and Grace's hilarious comic! Neither would be the same without this perfect combination of personalities.
Thanks!! I just feel so thankful that I met Grace every single day :D (Ryosuke)
Can't wait to watch this! Seriously become very obsessed with your channel! I love it! Feel like I've watched quite a lot of them. Wish there were more :-( hope you've had a lovely day!! :-)
Ryosuke sound effects on the Ninja Warrior video are a must :)
When I first moved to canada I did the same mistake and I didn't go out anymore and I got social anxaity for 2 months and it was so hard but now im doing volunteer work and im much better now
Totally agree on the kids not being filmed consensus you guys made. Keep up the good work. Much love from Austin.
You two make me feel all warm and snuggly inside. I would love to see pictures or hear you describe the personalities of your families. What are your siblings ages? What do your parents look like?
You guys are just too cute!! I wish you both all the happiness!
I was squealing the entire video; you guys are adorable. I love you, thank you for taking the time to upload videos.
I feel like we see your "this is me being supportive face" in most of your videos. 😊
Yup! Pretty much!
I can't believe u guys stoped doing videos
Don't let anyone pressure you on having kids! You'll know when the time is right and if you're not ready yet that is totally fine !
Btw thank you for answering my question (asked under my Twitter name))....Ryosuke, of course we know you are smart, btw! LOL! You two are so adorable and fun to watch!
ps those poop hats crack me up!!!!
y'all are too cute, I couldn't stop smiling through the entire thing
I never had any interest in Japan (or Texas for that matter) until I started watching your videos. You two are a delight to watch and listen to, and I'm happy I randomly ended up on your page!
ahhh ryosuke is hilarious. Both of your personalities are so endearing! Thanks for making these videos!
So happy you brought back the intro!
I binge watched you guys to the point of patreon, love what you guys do. Can you do more cooking? Discovered udon due to you guys and thank you.
I am glad you discovered udon noodle! Yay
+Texan in Tokyo Any thoughts on Japanese lessons or Kenji mini lessons in subtitles.
Omg yes!! Ryosuke is just like Gon!! XD I didn't think I could adore you two any more than I already do but here I am, finding it is very possible ♥️
Miss you guys!
I've been married for 40yrs and if I could change one thing about my husband, it would be for my husband to as romantic like Ryosuke is to Grace...
Aww! Your story of Ryosuke's most romantic gesture made me tear up.
Yaaay! Texan in tokyo jingle. Bing! \XD/ Lol at your "It's obvious" face when answering "It's poop!", Ryosuke XD
Ok that tending the sick story was adorable. That's real love there folks!
Thanks! I am so glad we help you when you feel little sad! Bringing more smiles to you~ :) (Ryosuke)
Texan in Tokyo You made my day! Thanks again!
Love that story about Ryosuke taking care of u!
6:35 Omg, he said "let's be serious", can't believe it!
Hahahah joking, he's awesome hahahah
Sending hello from South Carolina, I miss you guys dearly. Have a great life there!
Your aunt's advice is amazing!
I cannot wait to see the video about your Ninja Warrior experience. I was watching the live stream... sadness...
can you post a link to the recorded video, please!?!
So good to see you again guys!
I completely agree with you about children not being able to consent to being online. I really respect your decision to stop your UA-cam channel while you start your family. Even if it goes me an that I miss watching you both. I hope you are both doing really well. And I love watching your old video's. X
Kind of an odd question I guess, but knowing Grace is from the South and Ryosuke's been there as well:
How well do you think a Southern Food type of restaurant (BBQ, sweet tea, cornbread and biscuits, various beans, pies, etc.) would fare in Japan, and what kind of adjustments (aside greatly reducing sugar content) would likely have to be made to the food to suit the Japanese palate?
Love your videos! and I got your new book last week and I read it all in one day because it was so cute and funny Grace
I was the one that asked you to write follow your poop hat XD hehehe
Awww Thanks for enjoying my book! Haha we had fun with drawing it for you ~ :D
It would be awesome if you had some kind of podcast, love your blog you both crack me up.
How much would such lovely japanese interior cost for a single room? For example, about 15m² of Tatami mat floor?
Haha, I'd like a house inside an airplane too XD actually lately I've been looking at so many "tiny houses" and I really love some of them and the whole concept ^^
That was really funny by the way, when you realised he didn't want to buy a house XD
This got really awkward in a cute way on some of the questions.:-)
It made me smile. Though it helps that you were honest about everything.
And yes, the two of you are like Gon and Killua. :-)
I nearly fell out of my chair with the Why does Ryosuke like poop and his answer. LOL
I love the advice your aunt gave! I've never thought of that.
