That gets me sooo angry when they kept stopping the music
This saddens me.. There's no respect for our culture or preserving the beauty of the parade. It is just a street party. I don't know how security can effectively control this amount of stormers. People come to our city to see a beautiful parade and get this. This is the worst year by far. Sad.
I have never been to Caribana for this exact reason and the fact they try to appease too many different groups,Carnival is about soca an calypso traditional music and all other sub genres,playing anything else goes against the being of what carnival is all about.
Cultural preservation is nothing to worry about, as long as the Caribbean islands that celebrate carnival continue to do so,we good.

I hear you and you are right. At the end of the day we can all go to Trinidad, Cayman, Antigua etc to celebrate carnival. It would be a shame though, to see it fall apart here in Toronto after so many years.
Cassandra Carmichael 2014 was by far the worst. Hopefully a change can be made before the plug is pulled.

People that play mas come out around 9/10 in the morning to get ready to go on the stage which is usually secluded for judges and paying public. The move was the main problem because public is used to being on the street. Noone expected the stage to be on the streets
They had to bands run through Exhibition Place and thought that the main judging should be on the Lakeshore. Who hired the people who made this decision. They should be all FIRED. People in the stadium saw people running pass them and did not enjoy what they saw. It was nothing enjoyable like previous years. Check some of the videos in Exhibition Place. I never go on the Lakeshore and I stayed home for the 2nd time since its inception because I was not pleased with new location of the stage in Exhibition Place because most of the bleachers should have been before the bands went on the stage and not after the stage. They just made a mess of everything this year.

Not safe for everyone....there were a group of female masqueraders that had the top part of their costume ripped and were groped under the fabric by a group of assholes trying to 'cop a feel'. Also someone got stabbed this year.
Godfrey Mcintosh Definitely safer than the NY carnival.. always shooting and whatever else... will be checking it out this year..
I beg to differ it's totally disorganized, costumes are not the best and looks very congested more look like a big street party, only thing really happening good there is the unification of Caribbean nationals and Canadians
Trinidad and Tobago carnival should be totally carbon copy here if were to consider World best.

How many ppl you thin was in this band?
Have any of you gone to this festival? If you did you'd realize that there's the first parade with all the masquerades only, and then another right after where the people come on the streets. Masquerades can choose if they'd like join this too, but it can get messy.

This looks like a hot mess to me…..Why are there more spectators on the road than masqueraders? I don't know how anyone could possibly think this is ok. If people want to be on the road BUY A COSTUME!!! You may or may not know but there was NO band of the year because of non-costumed people on the parade route crashing the judging area. Bands need this prize money to keep the production going. Mas Bands are going extinct - Caribana is dying a slow death because of too many people who want to play mas for free - breaking fences and destroying costumes. Keep it up - in three years we may not have a parade.

Save Toronto Carnival The bands need security and officers that will rope off the stomers... That's how it's done in Trinidad, Barbado's, NYC, etc

Ruined the whole parade on multiple levels. If you want to be on the road, BUY A COSTUME. You'll see, in a short while there will be nothing left of our display of culture, and who's fault will it be? Certainly not ours. The stormers can blame themselves. Stay off our road.
