- The cookbook is coming along. I’m on my final edit and then starting tomorrow our publisher is going to be here with a photographer to take the pictures for the cover photo of the cookbook. Pre-sales are coming soon and the cookbook will be coming out this fall.
I’ve been working so hard to get my house all cleaned up for all the pictures that they’re gonna be taking of our family, our farm, and our shop where my husband works and does all his fixing up on the tractors and trucks.
I can’t hardly believe that my cookbook comes out in a few months, and that has really happened, because I’ve prayed and prayed and prayed that God would open the door if you want me to make a cookbook and it truly was a lot of work. It was eight months of just purely putting in the recipes making sure they’re right and then editing them.
And hopefully next year we will have other cookbooks out about other things which we are super excited about and so make sure you’re checking out our beacons page where the cookbook presales is going to be or Google mama Bell’s big family cooking to find out where the cookbook will be sold.

I went and picked up Gideon last week. We drove all the way Straight home and so I have all my children back and it feels so good to have them home
Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
2/3 C shortening
2/3 C butter, softened
1 C white sugar
1 C packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp pure vanilla
3 C flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 C instant vanilla pudding mix or 1 box
2 C milk or semi chips
2 C mini semi chips

Thank you for posting the lives for those of us who want to tune in, but aren’t able to when you’re actually live. I was working during yesterday’s live so I’m super happy you posted this! Your cookie dough is what dreams are made of. 🤩 I’d prob end up eating half the bowl of the raw dough lol.
They did NOT brown too much! They are caramelized! Thats exactly how I like them! Your cookie recipe was exactly like the one I use from the 1950s Betty Crocker Cookbook until you got to the pudding mix. Interesting addition! I might have to try that!

Hey Heather! those cookies cooked differently because the pan is a dark metal vs the light colored ones you’ve previously had, the dark metal can absorb and distribute heat more quickly and that’s why often times recipes will have you adjust your oven temp wether using a dark/aluminum/ glass or nonstick pan
Sometimes you remind me of that movie where the guy goes squirrel and he turns his head because you do that a lot you get distracted real quick it’s hilarious

I’ve found my darker baking sheets brown the food faster than my lighter baking sheets.

Curious, why don't you use a stand up mixer ? I've had my Kitchen Aid 6 qt for 20 years and I bake constantly, I sell baked goods. I can get 4 recipes in a 6 qt. You're working too hard 😅
I've seen a green stand up mixer on her counter... maybe she perfers using the handheld 😊
Mama Bell can you share your care tips for cookie sheets etc. To keep them in good shape? For me after a month or 2 they start to lose their non-stick coating etc. I am actually excited about your new cookbook, I think I'm going to put it on my christmas list for this year for my husband and kids to get for me. Dark pan vs silver pan cooks differently and browns differently when you’re baking.
If you put your phone on Do Not Disturb, it should prevent calls from coming in. Also, the cookie sheets are beautiful, but I am concerned because they are dark. Usually, you want to bake on lighter cookie sheets to prevent overbaking.
