It fits perfectly for both of them. Jon using the classic Superboy costume it's great considering his cocky upbeat personality (just like Conner Kent in the 90's) and Jordan has always been a more edgy and melancholic person. So him using Connor Kent's New 52 costume it's a good choice.
Jordan isn't as 'into' being a superhero as his brother is, he'll accept the responsibility and do a good job, but having a 'not so much like Superman' suit makes sense.
I was thinking this now that Jordan and Johnathan both have power's, Johnathan could be the comic accurate superbly with the red and blue and Jordan could be this show's version of Con-el and give him the new 52 red and black suit

Could that have been Jon teasing Cassie in the future in some way?
I like Jonathan‘s a lot considering it’s a spin off of the OG Superman suit, but I think I actually preferred Jordans just because of the color scheme and I also like that his entire suit is black with the hints of red. I like that a little bit better than red pants tbh.

The suits clearly reflect the personalities of each twin. Jordan has always been the moody broody, mentally unstable teen; thus the more "edgy" darker suit fits him. Jon, being the more mature & optimistic twin, the one who is most like his father, obviously fits better in Conner's classic 90s suit.
I feel like it’s more for Jordan than you’re saying it is. His suit can also symbolize GROWTH. You’re pointing out the “bad” characteristics but not the good. And if these suits are real Jordan will probably already have his character development

The New 52 version of Jon had black pant legs, red gloves, and red and gold boots, and no belt. The Reign of the Supermen, 1990s version had the red legs, the shaved sides haircut, black boots, a belt (though a different one), and red gloves (and also quickly adopted a leather jacket and sunglasses). Yes, the gloves here are more like the New 52 Superboy, but everything else is straight up Reign.

In the comics, a Superboy clone was made by Luthorcprp to replace Superman after the battle between Doomsday and Superman killed each one of them. The Reign of the Supermen had Steel, The Eradicator, Superboy, and Cyborg Superman. Jonathan's suit is almost identical to the Superboy clone.
The suit on the right is NOT new 52. It's based on the suit first worn by the clone Superboy created by Cadmus and featured in the Reign of the Supermen storyline form the 90's. The character became Kon'El but this suit is clearly NOTthe New 52 one. All that's missing is the leather jacket.
I just learned that this show was gonna last for 7 seasons, 7 whole seasons of Superman and Lois, and this was in a different earth Like man, just when it was getting good, I thought season 4 was the planned number they were planning

Maybe, the five of them will team up and form the Super Squad, and maybe they work together to destroy Doomsday with Superman, and then Superman goes public and says he is retiring, but Earth will still be protected and then the others appear from the sky and are introduced with their hero names and Jonathan and Jordan introduce themselves as the Sons of Superman! I think they would look better in the other suit.

Jons suit is almost a 1 to 1 the current Conner Kent Superboy suit, minus the leather jacket, when he is with the "young justice" in the comics for the past 2ish years. The costume is a call back to one of his first superboy suits pre new 52, so basically, the Kent twins are rocking two different eras of Superboy from the comics. 😅
They're both VERY comic accurate to the Superboy looks from the comics. As for why they got their respective suits, in-universe, it's probably their personalities. But the real world inspiration The seems to match who Superboy was when he wore those suits, and how those two iterations struggled differently with mental health. Also, Jons suit does relect his bizzaro counter parts suit. So it kinda makes sense thematically on multiple levels for why they have their respective costumes.😅
Shouldn’t their costumes include some headgear? At least some special goggles that hide their eyes, but are of good material that’s strong enough for them to utilize their heat vision, even amplify it. Whereas their father, who wears glasses to be Clark Kent, Jon and Jordan, who don’t wear glasses, would have wear the special goggles in their guise as the Superboys.

Two things: 1: how will they go about keeping their secret identities since so many people know who they are 2. So there are two super boys? Will they both be called superboy or one is superboy and one is called something else and if so what?
These both look good but I think some hoods need to be added for the boys suits. People have seen their faces in their personal lives so that’s why they need hoods as opposed to Clark who uses glasses in his personal life while showing his face as Superman. And for code names Jordan has Smallville Samaritan as his public name but Jon doesn’t have one so what would his be? Kryptoknight?(On the nose Ik but it could work),Solarboy? Superb-Boy?(Clever wordplay name huh),Powerboy? The Solar Soldier? So many possible names for Jon. Wonder what the show runners will come up with for him. 🤔
I always thought the boys costume are very close comic especially I can see Jonathan with his new costume and looks is definitely Superboy (Kon-El) mostly from Reign of the Supermen and I believe Jordan's new costume design is from New 52 Clone Superboy (Kon-El) from New 52 Teen Titans. At least some special goggles that hide their eyes, but are of good material that’s strong enough for them to utilize their heat vision, even amplify it. Whereas their father, who wears glasses to be Clark Kent, Jon and Jordan, who don’t wear glasses, would have wear the special goggles in their guise as the Superboys.

1 suit looks like Superboy Prime & 1 looks like d old school Superboy outfit minus da leather jacket.

These are both inspired by the Conner Kent Superboy. Jonathon is wearing the very first Connor Kent (see reign of the supermen)

maybe this will bring the bowl cut back, considering that Jonathan's hair matches the Return of the Supermen Superboy
These both look good but I think some hoods need to be added for the boys suits. People have seen their faces in their personal lives so that’s why they need hoods as opposed to Clark who uses glasses in his personal life while showing his face as Superman. And for code names Jordan has Smallville Samaritan as his public name but Jon doesn’t have one so what would his be? Kryptoknight?(On the nose Ik but it could work),Solarboy? Superb-Boy?(Clever wordplay name huh),Powerboy? The Solar Soldier? So many possible names for Jon. Wonder what the show runners will come up with for him. 🤔
I always thought the boys costume are very close comic especially I can see Jonathan with his new costume and looks is definitely Superboy (Kon-El) mostly from Reign of the Supermen and I believe Jordan's new costume design is from New 52 Clone Superboy (Kon-El) from New 52 Teen Titans. But then seeing these from your explanation makes more sense.
