I didn't like it. As I've stated elsewhere, no ending is a good ending if Superman dies in it. Much better if he had stayed up there at the sun and got fully repowered as he did before. And, he could have flown back up there at anytime and done that since he didn't have enough time to when he was there with Doomsday. Anyway, no need for him to die in the show.
I felt it was a fitting ending, especially with the budget and episode constraints. This has always been about Lois and Clark's life maneuvering in a world where he's our greatest hero.
I'm an old fart at 70, been a Superman fan since I was 6 and Superman and Lois is the best Superman show ever. The finale is the best I've ever seen and yes I shed a lot of tears too. The scene with Lois passing was especially poignant to me because my wonderful wife of 35 years has stage 3 COPD and I've been dealing with that for years now. She's watched every Arrowverse show with me through the years and she loves S & L too and loved the finale. It's a shame it had to end.
What a great ending. Knowing that he was still Superman in this world and got to grow old with Lois and his friends instead of watching everyone around him die just feels right. Will miss this show.
Johnathan was hit with a red sun laser and Jordan healed him using the solar flare move from the comics...essentially recharging him with yellow sun energy. Also, the bomb Lois put on Lex's suit was designed to diable the kryptonite coating on the warsuit...John Henry explained that earlier in the episode.
I am glad we saw a life of Superman. What a brave, cool thing the writers did. We always see Big Blue return; instead, Superman enters the afterlife. Powerful.
Tyler definitely solidified himself as one of the greatest superhero actors ever in history of superhero cinema doesn’t matter where he ranks right now as there’s more actors to come but he’s definitely a top 10 Superman for sure
Top 10? top 3 for sure. Top 1 for me. The character portrayal is how I see Superman to be in every way. He did awesome. Lois also - she is the only Lois I've liked. They both deserve to win some awards
I think the reason why Doomsday came to his senses was due to the blow he took to the head from hammer. When Superman x-rayed him, you could see brain damage was done. So that most likely made him snap out of it almost like he had amnesia.
NGL While this version is no Superdog, this may be my favourite Krypto in live action. Not only Golden Retriever is my favourite breed of dogs, but the simplistic story of how Krypto was used in this epilogue is quite beautiful
Jordan and Jonathan are 16 when lex is defeated. 17 when Lana and Henry get married Clark was in his 20s in the daily planet almost 40 in the main series and 32 years later is 72. His Kryptonian Body lived a good life from 40-72. Given he looked 50+ pretty darn good. But I definitely found myself mourning Clark's passing and end of the series, when i woke up. It's fiction ... but actually felt like a real loss of a favourite celebrity.
Solid 10+ ending. It went out just as it came in. Telling us the story of what its like to be a more human version of Superman. A Husband, Father, Friend and Hero. Bravo to the cast, crew and brilliant writers of this amazing series. I think it wouldve been great to get 2 more seasons on Max.🎬
Just finished it am balling my eyes out still watching the review! Hands down this is my Superman !!I love every iteration, but this one stole my heart! James Gunn has huge huge shoes to fill with new Superman! Like this is on tv not a movie which is crazy!
I'd say the sun and the hammer did the trick 7:03, mostly the hammer prolly gave him amnesia and make him forget what Luthor manipulated him into doing
I do think either the hammer hit, or dying again and the sun bringing senses back to him is why Doomsday calmed down. My favorite part was seeing Clark punch Lex out of the suit- it looked really good! The last half got me choked up too, and I initially thought why spend 20 minutes on it when you could have shown more battling with Lex. But agreeing with you I believe they did what they could for the show 👍🏻
Tyler Hoechlin for me is the best live action Superman and its a shame the show has ended as I genuinely think it could have run on for a couple more seasons (I would have loved to see this show's iteration of Brainiac). Overall I was very happy with finale. Its cool that Jordan, Jonathan, Steel and Natalie carry on Superman's legacy while Clark was able to reunite with Lois in the afterlife, great ending.
What made this ending even more wholesome is the fact that the CW started with Superman being Tom Welling Smallville and then ending with Tyler Hoeclin Superman & Lois. It just seemed so tearful and symbolic
I’m happy Superman is wasn’t killed in battle instead gets to live a long life. His boys take up the mantle a new generation of Superman lives on Thanks Tyler for giving us one of the best live action Superman.
Just finished the series finale... I wept... it wasn't the best action packed finale, but emotionally it hit the right beats like this show always did so well!
I bawled my heart out, I wish there was more of a scene with Lex concerning the forgiveness… but it was a beautiful send off, and it is a shame it didnt get more seasons.
Man I have never cried watching a show the producers/writers of Superman & Lois hit the mark I will saw arrow & Superman & Lois had the best finales for me in terms of cw dctv
I think them having to be creative with less time and a small budget, made this finale better than anything they were actually planning than if they had the time and full budget they were expecting...
I would actually like the thing that Sarah and Jordan got back together and got married, Sarah moved back to Smallville and they reconnected, just like the beginning of season 1, although it would’ve been nice for clarification
I think this season has been solid. Damn, that ending really got me. I couldn't stop crying! Superman & Lois is the best show coming from The CW/Arrowverse. Sad that it's over. Next up: James Gunn Superman. Gunn, don't fail us!
This final episode was an experience. I was ugly sobbing by the end of it. I don't think we will ever get a superman story like this unless in a comic. It was just such a human story.I just want to thank everyone involve for this show including you Boba for reviewing this show and keeping the conversation going. I think this show will be one of the rare shows I ll get the physical media for it. It is that special.
Man, remember finding this chanel thanks to S&L. Cant believe that was so long ago. Now that S&L is gone I can only hope Corenswet can live up to Tyler's spectacular performance.
Been a ride that somehow feels really short. The ending was definitely rushed but bittersweet and I'm happy they got to end on the show properly rather than just a abrupt cancellation. MY **ONLY** nitpick is I wish they just used this suit at 24:47 for majority of this season with the colors as it's probably the best one on the whole show even though its probably just the same season 4 suit with color grading.
@@houseofinobe They might have a lesser version. Remember Clark's Kryptonian mom mentioned his sons would never be as powerful as him. Of course half the power of Superman is still super. So their children are even more human.

If I am being honest about Bizarro Doomsday... the whole Bizarro is still in there somewhere in Doomsday has been flirted with throughout, that it doesn't surprise me they went this way... and yeah I thought the whole sun weakening Doomsday enough to allow Bizarro's humanity to come back is how it worked... it's still unclear to me why Doomsday still turned evil to fight Superman again at all just because Lex killed him again... but again, the whole thing was rushed so it is what it is
This finale was amazing the feel the tone it all brought us to this moment it couldn't of been done any better. For the limits they had in episodes and funding the pacing was well and to give such closure to the story of Superman and Lois was different and very interesting as well as sentimental and emotional. I was at a lost for words when I saw this finale. I liked other Superman shows. But this is the best one ever. It makes me want to watch the show again. I now have to say it's the best show in the Arrowverse. Great Show!!!!!
10:31 I think it was a reference to the solar flare ability - so Jordan emptied himself of solar energy to recharge/revive Johnathan. And maybe to imply the boys could actually reach Clark’s level
This version of Superman was always inspired by Zack Snyder's Man of Steel ironically...but with way more emotion and grounded take. You can see the inspirations in certain shots like the slow mo of Superman dodging Doomsday punch in slow mol to Justice League movie.
I’m so glad I got back into this show. It’s because of you, Boba! Perfect ending. My 1 suggestion for Smallville is to have someone teach how to properly perform CPR
Epic performances, Epic fights, Epic storyline, Epic series, Epic ending!!! They gave such a good and thought-out ending to make sure there was nothing left as a question and leaving us without closure! This episode had the BEST live action Superman fighting!
I find it crazy how many part Kryptonians are going to be running around that universe, even if they're not Superman level I feel like they definitely will manifest powers as they grow right? A spin-off about that could be interesting...

I agree. The writers understood the assignment, and Tyler did a fantastic job portraying it.
When Clark is walking around after he dies he's wearing the same shirt he wore when he told the boys he's Superman

When superman dodged Doomsdays punch that was a definite nod to Justice League when Superman dodged Steppenwolf

Great recap. Thank you!!!
Clark was Superman for 20 years before the Doomsday and 32 after, so he was Superman for 52 years.
He retired and lost his powers, ive seen this stuff all over and i reallly dont think its intentional 🙏😭
He lived for another 32 more years but he wasn’t Superman that whole time. He retired after a certain point.
The ending broke me man…

And it took longer to revive, because of brain trauma took longer to regenerate.
