Thank you! Mine just needed new #10 o-rings with some lube. Fortunate since the reel is discontinued and parts may be hard to find. Disassembly and reassembly were so much easier because of your video!
Thanks. I tend to pick up old Suncast reels of various sizes just for the parts.Your video showed me the tricks of dis-assembly. For that I am grateful.
On mine I had to pull on those two white tabs very hard and wiggle and wiggle and wiggle side to side before finally the center piece budged and came out. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks, the video is very useful. Since sun cast does not sell the part anymore, another cheap way is just to carefully melt the plastic part. The hot plastic will close the small leak by itself.
Thanks for your video. Couldn't figure how the heck to get this thing apart. You made it easy! I think a couple of new o-rings will fix it.Thanks again.
That outer hose connector piece (that the leader hose conenects to) broke on mine not too long after I bought it. I epoxied it and it's been fine. That was at least 10 years ago.
With this help I was able to replace the sheared off handle (15 years in the hot sun) for less than $5 including shipping. The comments about judicious encouragement with a hammer on a wooden stick were the key for getting the the drum parts separated, removing the insides of the handle, and then pushing the new handle through the reel. Frustrating, but satisfying when finished.
I also have one with a broken handle. Have the new part. Just can't figure out how to get the old handle out. I'm pressing the four prongs of the handle on the inside of the box and pulling the broken handle but can't get the two to separate. I don't know how you managed to figure out how to do this from the video as he didn't show that at all. What should I be doing please?
You might get by without the $10 part. Disassemble as shown, but replace the two O rings with #11 O rings ($0.79 each at Menards, or less if you buy 10). Lube with silicone plumbing grease. Reassemble. I just did two Suncast hose reels and NO LEAKS!
Where did you get the replacement kit to fit your hose reel please? We have a Suncast Hosemobile and it is leaking slightly at the hose connector...just like what you had in this video. Thank you!
My hose reel was leaking where the supply line comes into the reel. I tried replacing the washer and it didn't make any difference. I replaced the o-rings and it didn't make any difference. Then I used a different supply line and there were no leaks. I tried cleaning the threads on the first supply line and I still had a leak. Finally, I looked at the female end of the first supply line and saw daylight near the end. My problem was that the female coupler had corroded all the way through for a portion of the threads on the first supply line.
Snapping the internal pieces off may not be as easy as it looked here. Take a piece of wood about an inch in diameter and slide it through one side and tap the wood with a hammer forcing the other side to snap off. Be careful not to break the plastic. Use your head as to the amount of force needed to pop them apart. Very easy repair apart from this.
Thank you so much for this! I use two 1x2 furring strips inserted in an oval opening on each side and used a couple of good pushes to pry apart each of the 4 connections
As I was half way through beating this open, I realized there are slots where the half cylinders meet where a flat screwdriver can be inserted and twisted to pry the 2 pieces apart.
The Suncast website is a mess as far as parts and support are concerned. This company looks like is ready for a take over or a fold. Whenever you see a poor website that hasn't been updated in years it tell you one story: It's on the way out of relevance. The fact that retailers at least here in Canada seem to carry spare parts for Suncast but are completely sold out tells you as well there is no rep that is taking care of supplying the stores...
So finally, I took it apart, prying it open with pieces of wood when possible and a fat screw driver. Some damage to the plastic, but I think it will come back together. Suncast does not sell parts for the HoseMobile and I think it just sucks! Also, they could have put some thought into making the reel easier to dis-assemble. In my case, the inner connector is broken, very cleanly, no idea how. Going to use some epoxy to put stick it together.
My In-tube with O-rings broke and the Suncast site no longer has it in stock. eBay has the repair kit for $28.49 while Lowes has the whole cart new for $29.99. Hmmmm ... decisions, decisions.... Or just buy a sturdier cart with marine brass connectors that isn't a rip-off since the in-tube with O-rings is the weakest link with this particular cart and is the reason for so many 1star reviews on amazon.
Hi Thanks for sharing your skills. I have a different problem. When I turn the water on to use the hose, water comes out of the drain hose as well as the leader hose. I was wondering where do you think the problem may be. Thanks again
Replaced the o-rings with a #11, 9/16" ID X 3/4" OD X 3/32" thickness, bought from Loews (HD should carry as well). The new o-rings seem a bit thinner or of lower quality than the original o-rings, but they were successful in stopping the leak completely. Have ordered a slightly thicker, better quality o-ring (same ID, but 13/16 OD and 1/8 thickness) on ebay, and will try, attempt to install those when, once the big box store o-rings have run their course.
i can't figure out why water comes out all over from the spool when i turn it on. are the 0-rings supposed to fit snugly? they seem pretty loose - over 1/8" play.
I have a ‘Suncast’ mobile hose reel cart that has cheap metal hose connector of which some of the threaded metal part of the [male] coupling has quite broken-off inside the [female] plastic hose bibb of [PLASTIC] 'in-tube' [located on the outside of the unit]... Apparently, the threaded [cheap metal] coupling has been painted to look like [actual] brass. The (Chinese?) manufacturer of these parts uses a substandard metal that has just sheared/broken off [out of the warranty period, of course]. I’ve read that other connecting parts tend to rust, [unlike the actual brass fittings they try to imitate]. The break, [as can be found with the use of cheap screws and metal parts which are manufactured without any quality control], makes it impossible to properly connect another hose connector, rendering the part is impossible to repair, so, this [otherwise good product] is now completely useless. I’m trying to find a way to remove the old bit of remaining ‘brass-like’ coupling from the 'in-tube', without damaging the surrounding [plastic] connection… ANY SUGGESTIONS???
I'm also looking for the same. Seems like it is no longer available OR discontinued sadly. Let me know if you have any luck finding it in stock OR find other solution.
#10, 2 per hose reel. Use silicone grease. About $1.50. You probably won't need to buy the $10 parts. I just did it to two SUNCAST hose reels and no drips.
robin tremblay I just reversed mine. My suncast reel model wasn't quite as easy to take apart as this one and you have to reel the hose in reverse but it's a compromise that works out well in the end.
I ordered it a while ago, may be the parts is discontinued. Go to Suncast.com and order part with Description of Out-Tube and SKU # twm200-0461261B. The cost was $5.4 plus shipping.
Nobody has these repair parts, not even Suncast! It's obvious that offering repair parts for a fix is a way to get you to buy a new complete reel. Somebody prove me wrong.
Suncast is not designed for the long haul. I've dicked around with these parts for decades. Best to consider it a disposable item and replace every 5 years.
there are two white chips on the sides of the hose connector. Push the clips in and the connector will release for you to access the broken hose connector.
@@HappyPing8 Thank you I went back and figured out what you were doing I pulled and pressed in the tabs and it popped right out! Thank you so much for your the only one who showed how it is done!
where did you buy the replacement part from? I have the same issue and was trying to find the parts online but was unable to find any site that sells it.
im looking to replace that same piece they want $50 where i can find them. im thinking i can just buy the cheaper reels they make for $20 for the part and put it in my $100 hose reel enclosure. still saves me $30-$100 whether i replace the part or the whole unit. with i could find the part for $10 though that would be ideal
These are garbage, the cheapest part, 'The retainer clip" breaks and makes the rest of it instant trash. No they don't sell just the clip. it's $29.00 for the kit...
Thanks for the video! I used your video to take this apart, but since you can't buy the part anymore, I came up with a repair hack and made a video about it. Cheers! ua-cam.com/video/VrrMtGN4op8/v-deo.html

Too bad you didn't leave a link to where to get the replacement part. Seems getting the part is toughest so far... Thanks

Thanks for the tip. Was regretting having to replace the entire cart. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge/experience.
Thank You! Your video showed me how to disassemble the cart. You made it look so easy, but with a little more force, mine came apart.
Great job on the demonstration. Showed exactly what needs to be done. 👍

Very useful... the leaking o-rings are a much easier fix than I anticipated.
Knew how to do this, but thank you for the part number. I couldn't find it once I took it all apart!
Thank you for this very informative video! I was able to fix the leaks with 2 new o-rings and 2 new faucet washers.
This is exactly what I needed to know. I could not figure out how the yellow tabs worked. Thanks!

Water leaking on inside of wheel. Black connector to hose?
How do I order another one or fix. I don't have instruction book.
