Waves upon the ocean, waves of emotion, waves of our hands in greeting or goodbyes, like waves of joy or sorrow through the passing of time... Beautiful composition, Stuart Ryan!
This is really lovely Stuart! Bravo! I hope the world will embrace your new work with all the love and skill that you obviously put into it. Very inspiring! Continued success hermanito! m
Amazing, so expressive. Really unique among fingerstyle songs. My favorite part is the syncopated left hand tapping. It breaks away from the feel of the rest of the song slightly, and it really grabs my attention. Very cool. Looking forward to seeing more from this composer.
+sb792079 You know I get the same thing when I play the guitar, the notes just 'bloom' out of it so I'm really pleased you got that, thanks for watching!
+TheBenOdie Thank you! This is in open G minor which is more commonly associated with slide but works great for fingerstyle - from string 6 it's - D G D G Bflat D
+StuartRyanMusic thanks for the tuning! Are there any other tunings you've used that you have found particularly nice sounding or easy to compose in? Thank you, and love your music.
Fantastic Stuart. I voted for this one! Really strong melody, not just technique for it's own sake. Strangely, the Ad just before this was from the National Trust with a poem by John Cooper Clarke & the sound of waves crashing on the beach. Co-incidence?
+Neil Hutchison Thanks Neil and thank you for choosing this one, it was a great help to get input from you all! Lovely coincidence about the advert before it as well! All the best, Stuart
+Nicolas Vandessel Hi Nicolas, ValukaitheDreamer is right - these are 'artificial harmonics' that are sometimes combined with naturally fretted notes like at the start of the piece. The best lessons on this subject are by Tommy Emmanuel and Chet Atkins, hope that helps!
+Soulfly169 Not a problem at all and your opinion is as valid as anyone else's! I aimed to get those techniques into this one but fear not I have many more pieces which are based on more traditional approaches/techniques. Thanks for watching!
Well that was beautiful. Stunning recording of a perfect performance of a gorgeous piece of music.
+Jon Gomm Aren't you the god that played "passionflower"?
Waves upon the ocean, waves of emotion, waves of our hands in greeting or goodbyes, like waves of joy or sorrow through the passing of time... Beautiful composition, Stuart Ryan!

+Matt Allen Thanks Matt! All the best, Stuart
Lectured me in BIMM Bristol just before I went from electric guitar to lap tapping, lovely guy and every success from him is earned and deserved :)
Magnificant, I close my eyes and I feel like I'm swimming with the waves on a starry night!
+ugcx Thank you, I love the imagery! All the best, Stuart
Maybe one of the most beautiful tunes, i have heard so far!
Perfect Balance. And this is musical beauty even "non-guitarplayers" understand!
+Tim Huyeng Thank you Tim, reaching non-guitar players is even important than reaching guitar players I think! All the best, Stuart

Amazing, so expressive. Really unique among fingerstyle songs. My favorite part is the syncopated left hand tapping. It breaks away from the feel of the rest of the song slightly, and it really grabs my attention. Very cool. Looking forward to seeing more from this composer.

every time he does a slow strum on the strings i feel this rush of... something.
that's a beautiful sounding guitar.
+sb792079 You know I get the same thing when I play the guitar, the notes just 'bloom' out of it so I'm really pleased you got that, thanks for watching!
+sb792079 Pause and anticipation is as important to good music as rhythm, notes, and chords. This song understands that well.
I'm right there with you, the slow strums are haunting. It doesn't even sound like a guitar. Incredible sound.
Rael0505 we're talking about the best guitar on the market, the froggy bottom.
Fantastic.....geat job Stuart

Froggy Bottom model M, the best acoustic guitar ever made.
Wow, it's very calm to listen to this music. Very nice tune! May I know the tuning of the strings?
+TheBenOdie Thank you! This is in open G minor which is more commonly associated with slide but works great for fingerstyle - from string 6 it's - D G D G Bflat D
+StuartRyanMusic Thank you for sharing =) Looking forward for your next composition.
+StuartRyanMusic thanks for the tuning! Are there any other tunings you've used that you have found particularly nice sounding or easy to compose in? Thank you, and love your music.
Stunning playing and sound. What is the guitar. Sounds like a grand piano.
Wow! Great! :)
+Mihai Gabriel Thanks Mihai!
The Bass carries really well; Well played.
+Dom Thanks Dom, this guitar has a huge amount of low end, almost too much when it's played live!
I bet it's good for funk/blues though.
This piece is really beautiful. Reminds me of the Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross soundtracks.
+byeblackbird Thank you, I must check those out! All the best, Stuart
Hey! Very placid and calming.
Could i find out what tuning you are using?
Really want to learn to play this.
+Rohith Subramaniam Hi Rohith - this is open G minor - DGDGBflatD
+StuartRyanMusic Thanks a lot for that.
Красиво и свежо. Нравится! :)
Where can I buy the sheet music?
The thing about Michael Hedges is that he had the really good song first , and then he added the tricks to it.
are those light strings or tuned lower?
+rob killa Hi Rob, these are D'Addario 12-53 but tuned to Open G minor - DGDGBflatD. All the best, Stuart
Dang
It would sound great in some beautiful Disney animation.
+Fiilli That would be very cool!
0:33 I can see clearly now the rain has gooone
I could feel waves at beach
+MJ Kim Awesome! I wish I was on the beach but it's freezing cold here in the UK :(
+StuartRyanMusic Haha It's sad TT, Korea weather is fine
Осталось впечатление, что музыкант все время готовится начать игру, но у него не получается и он смиренно оставил эту свою неудачную затею.
How does he do these weird sounds?
+Nicolas Vandessel i think your talking about the artificial harmonics. There should be some good vids on how they work
+Nicolas Vandessel Hi Nicolas, ValukaitheDreamer is right - these are 'artificial harmonics' that are sometimes combined with naturally fretted notes like at the start of the piece. The best lessons on this subject are by Tommy Emmanuel and Chet Atkins, hope that helps!
Okay thanks guys!
wow))) thats rly nice))))hello from ukraine)
+Дмитрий Грепан Hello! Thanks for watching!
it's a set
Guthrie Govan will be upset
+abdakka0 Don't worry, he'll be fine - I've known him for years and we write for the same Guitar magazine! :)
Haha great, really gald to know that you know each other because he's a very great musicien too, thanks you for the comment
It's a nice song, but too much harmonics and tapping for me! It's my humble opinion :)
+Soulfly169 Not a problem at all and your opinion is as valid as anyone else's! I aimed to get those techniques into this one but fear not I have many more pieces which are based on more traditional approaches/techniques. Thanks for watching!
magnificent!
+eddiesguitarsstl Thank you!
Beautiful !!!
