Would you say this lens gives that swirly bokeh? They released some videos where it looked great but in many others Ive seen like this it doesnt have that characteristic swirl to it as much. What do you rekcon?
Thank you Steve! Yeah I watched some other youtube reviews and they just sit there and talk talk talk, then show 3 clips from their backyard haha. I wanted to SHOW as much as I could with this lens :) - use it extensively across many places and events.
Very cool, bokeh and slight compression is beautiful. I wonder how it would compare to the sigma 30mm f1.4? The cine has a little wider aperture, but the sigma has a slightly longer focus length and autofocus too... But manual focus is 'fly by wire' not mechanical.. Just different use cases I guess
@@JonBear yeah, I have the sigma and I love it. For locked off focus cinematic b roll is doable and looks good, but my main use for it is portraits. I know 'classic' portraiture is often done with longer focal, but most the time I do pics of kids. I feel like I benefit from being physically closer to the children when composing vs a longer lens. The bokeh is decent, I'm quite fond of it. Still impressed with the mitakon, but maybe not different enough from what my sigma gets for me to consider 😂
Hi, I am a newbie looking to buy my first real camera (gh-5) and wondered - at 6 minutes into the video you are shooting ... what is your left hand manipulating? Some kind of off-set focuser? Can you say how it mounts? Or maybe you already have a video on how you like to rig up your gh-5? Thanks, really enjoying your many videos!
Hi Luke, That is just a filter cover attached to the lens, something like this amzn.to/3KgHCxf As for rig video you can find it here ua-cam.com/video/JMikPsnkA8A/v-deo.html
Great video. Love it. On a side note do you know how to transfer apple pro Rez 422 video files onto the ipad pro? Total noob question but thanks. Only seeing photos but no video appear as options.
While I do not use Meike, a lot of my friends swear by them. I guess it really depends on how much you want that fast T1.0. Do you shoot low light? Go for the Speedmaster T1.0.
I did actually buy it later! I am glad you asked. We used it for a bunch of shots with the Blackmagic 4k on a recent shoot and the results are phenomenal.
@@JonBear I appreciate the feedback, seems like a good deal to get this lens. I am debating on also the sigma 16mm, 30mm, and this mistaken as a set for that bokeh effect. Right now my GH5 is using the 12-35 Lumix lens which is sharp but doesn't give that shallow depth of field cinematic shot that's key.
Thank you Luca! Great question. The Sigma is undoubtedly one of the greatest lenses ever made. It would outperform the 25mm T1 is most categories. In my opinion the Sigma is the "one and done" lens for most people. So to answer your question, I went with the 25mm T1 because I enjoy using it and I wanted to challenge myself. Using prime lenses changes your approach to every shot and makes the experience of filming very different. It's good to change things up as it unlocks new perspectives both literally and mentally 😁
Great video thanks I am thinking of buying this for my BMPCC.
Subscribed because of this video. Well done!
Great review! Do you have more from the same serie lenses? I am curious how they are color matched, also a good thing about cine lenses

The only channel on earth to really show what these lenses are capable of!! Jon Bear, you are the MAN!

@@JonBear Yeah, i think that, for me, your way to talk about the lens are the best!
I second this. Love how much depth there is in these videos while keeping us entertained
Yeah this has been the best review of this lens. I think you just sold a set for them.
Has a cool clean look i have the mitakon 17 and 25 photo versions. Was looking at the 35 t1.0
Yeah I really love the look from this lens. The 35 probably looks great!
Nice video and the lens!
Thank you Kana :)

Whenever I buy non-manual lenses I always go with Sigma. Although I haven't tried the 30mm, I can only imagine it's tack sharp with beautiful bokeh.

Stop! Buy the gh6. Thank me later.

Thank you! Unfortunately I don't really know about Ipads.
Awesome video!!!! How would this lens compare to the meike 25mm t2.2 on a gh5? Debating on which one to get.

I used the 16 but to me they both have a smooth clean look. Id probably go with mitakon
Hey great video as usual! Just curious if you bought one yourself? And if not what was the reason or what would you rather recommend?
I did actually buy it later! I am glad you asked. We used it for a bunch of shots with the Blackmagic 4k on a recent shoot and the results are phenomenal.
Great bokeh effects, will this fit the gh5 without an adapter?
Yes. Native. Probably my favorite cinema line for the GH5 🤟

Great review! Thank you! Helps alot! Does the mount have play on the bmpcc4k? I fear the image to wiggle and have play on the mft mount.
Thank you! I've never had issues. Solid build. I travelled with this lens to Jordan and filmed a ton with BMPCC4k
@@JonBear Great! Thank you so much! :)
Nice location sceneries, where is it?
All of it shot in Iceland :)
I can’t decide, I was hoping someone could help me! How does this lens compare to the 25mm Voigtlander 0.95?
They're very much same same
@@JonBear thanks for the reply 😊
How did you determine the max focusing distance? Was it just available by the specs?
The specs lead me to experiment. If that makes sense :) And the results were pleasant!
Super the video
Thank you!
VOIGHTLANDER have a totally series of lenses on F 0.95
F0.95 is the same as T1.0.
T means precise calibration while F is estimated, which is why they get away with saying it’s 0.95
Great video, as usual! I saw you used this as your only lens in your desert travel. Why did you choose this vs a sigma 18-35 + speed booster?

Nice video. Very informative. I wish they had more Super35 lenses. I see they have the one 35mm for FF sensors. Thanks.
They have a 50mm full frame lens available for Pre-order zyoptics.net/product/new-mitakon-speedmaster-cinema-lens-50mm-t-1-0/
@@JonBear will they realease any L mount lenses?
Bokehlicious! Nice little lens :)
As a BMPCC shooter manual lenses are pretty routine for you xD
You got that right! Yeah I use only manual. But I sometimes dream of using autofocus... but that's what my iphone is for :)
@@JonBear A BMPCC with auto focus is a wet dream xD
That's so true 🎉🎉
Its a big boy =O
Fast too!
