Tunisian Jihadis: How the Islamic State Has Preyed on Tunisia's Youth

  • Within days of Tunisia's 2010 Arab spring, radical Islamist preachers were able to profit from the chaos by recruiting the young. Thousands were radicalised for jihad. Now many are returning home. Subscribe to Journeyman here: ua-cam.com/users/subscription_c...
In the suburbs of Tunis, almost everyone knows a jihadist fighter. "You can recruit them for anything!" says one local. "Anyone who gives them money can manipulate them". With 30% youth unemployment and limited education, many feel the state have abandoned teenagers to the advances of IS recruiters in Tunisia's mosques. Yet in the wake of domestic attacks on civilians, Tunisia has a new fight to contain and rehabilitate returning extremists. Over 900 jihadists have already returned to Tunisia, many anonymously. "The question is not who is in prison but who is out there" says lawyer Fadoua Braham. One such undocumented jihadist spoke to us exclusively. "I have been thinking about going to Europe to work", he says. "I cannot work here, they banned me."

That man you interviewed his no longer anonymous after that video: you could clearly see his face. Regardless of who he is: Journeyman reporters (or whoever they are) betrayed his trust.

Some people say they were indoctrinated. I say, they were discovered, and they served a purpose. Muhammad was also good at discovering these people. How else do you explain that Muhammad only had about 100 followers for 12 years, then in the next 8, he had 10,000 ? The method of recruitment is knowledge that historians of Islam, are well familiar with.

Radicalisation is harder to cure than ptsd with. Ptsd your whole being goes into fight or flight mode but brainwashing is actually convincing vulnerable people to commit or do things that would normally be against their nature if they were able to think rationally. It consumes every aspect of their lives and their thoughts are no longer their own but what the person or in this case Isis leads them to believe takes over their brain. There are deradicalise classes in UK but it takes time to alter a damaged mind set maybe years some never recover I fear Isis has damaged a whole generation of vulnerable young people. Let’s remember that God or Allah gave man free will and it was up to them how to use it. All including Isis and the Christian Crusaders who committed atrocities hundreds of years ago will stand accountable to God or Allah you can be sure of that . Post traumatic stress your stuck in the moment you can’t go back and you can’t go forward you get flashbacks to.it only happens in moments of fear or panic thinking I may die scary stuff
A physco and medication can help to a certain degree and counselling also social gathering is important at this stage isolation fuels all your worst fears. So stay close to family and friends. I wish the best of luck to anyone suffering ptsd. Or radicalisation. I don’t think locking people up in prison is an ideal solution so providing they have no blood on their hands from Syria they should be dereadicalised . If they have committed proven crimes then they must be held accountable but you have to have prove it and go before a jury and they will decide your fate. We have to show them we are civilised and what that means . There are no winners in wars man will never learn

We don’t want returning indoctrinated Jihadi killers in Europe they can stay in Muslim countries and worship Mohammed there.
I agree western countries should not be going to wars in Syria Lybia Iraq etc they foolishly thought they were helping mr Assad as he is not a democratically elected people’s choice and not good to his people in Syria. In Lybia Mr Gadaffi killed hundred of British citizens and US ones in the Pan Am jet bombing in Britain. So do we sat back and accept this or fight back. In Iraq Saddam Hussain gassed his own people in Halajba and invaded Kuwait so do you just leave a killer tyrant in power. This person being interviewed on film that won’t even face the camera makes out that we started these wars wellhistory says otherwise. Isis went to Syria supposedly to help Syrians but ended up a death cult with no real leadership and tried to bring local people back to living in the dark ages. Making women wear black tents and cover all their face all degrading stuff. And telling men their beards were not long enough etc all pettiness and shows a lack of education. You can’t make up your own rules for religion . They did need to enforce no drugs or alcohol theft or fornication we understand that stuff
They were never going to win over moderate Muslims chopping Aid workers heads off were they. There is zero in Quoran telling you to kill innocent people and millions of decent Muslims never hurt anyone and never will. One day Isis will be held accountable by Allah you can be sure

You helped toppled Gaddafi because he was a tyrant, we toppled him because he was not ruling by islamic law hence why he was not a Muslim.
Same with bashar, you helped us because he was a tyrant, but we wanted him gone because he was not ruling by islamic law, hence he was not a Muslim.
The Qur'an and sunnah teach us to obey our rulers even if they are tyrants, we are only instructed to rebel if they change the Constitution of the country from Qur'an and sunnah to other constitutions, hence making them disbelievers.
Your aim of overthrowing tyrants aligned with ours but our intentions were never the same.
      Ps. We don't worship Muhammad.
