Yes it's so important. I get very frustrated with people who don't to ride with a bit or spurs because they don't want to "hurt" the horse so they let it travel inverted and cause all kinds of serious problems.
Tim, you are definitely the best at breaking things down, to where even someone like me, who knows nothing, and still didn't understand "collection" and how to start training it, could actually understand. I do follow some horse folks that are more about teaching horse behavior, and are of the mind that "horses don't need to be taught how to move their bodies". Of course, these are pleasure riders, but I can see as we learn more about the physiology of the horse, teaching them a better way of carrying a rider (and teaching the human how to be a better passenger), in the end seems like it makes for a healthier horse, physically, even if you are just using your horse for pleasure riding. Hope that makes sense. Thanks again! ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎
Great video I love watching the difference between the uncollected horse to the collected horse they look better and stronger collected! Thanks for showing us the difference and breaking it down for folks to understand! 🐴❤️
Tim, I am always giving my clients suggestions on how to collect their horses. I will point them to this video. This is something they should understand and be able to do. Thanks!
Nice one! I appreciated seeing how you ask a more trained horse for collection versus how you start a young one (or one who has never been taught) with collection. I have an older gelding I'm working on getting him more engaged and collected and a yearling I'll want to start under saddle in a few years and give him the best foundation I possibly can. Thank you!
Good you made this video. People starting out don't know how important this is for a long healthy relationship.

I love when you make videos like this.
You are SUCH a great teacher for people of all ages & walks of life.
Thanks Tim!🙏
Thank you

Thanks for the informative video...
Hi Tim can you teach one side collection in trot after you do walk? can you do video .
Yes good idea.
What is the difference between Self carriage and collection?
My interpretation, self carriage is collection on a loose rein.
How ling would you school this to a horse
He must collect and use his body correctly every time I ride.
My horse is 17 I just got him not to long ago will horses Buck if they never experienced spurs
Not if you introduce them correctly.
Can I collect a horse without sitting on him ?
It can be done but those aids will not transfer to saddle aids so when you do get in the saddle you'll basically be starting over.
