I love your hybrid budget! It’s like the budget mom meets Jordan page meets Dave Ramsey. You’re the first one I’ve found that incorporates a monthly overview and weekly check ins all in one page. Thanks for taking time to make these videos! Super helpful and I’m going to give it a try. 😊
I have tried to lower our grocery/household budget so many times and we have just realized we "need" a certain amount for what we eat. We eat relatively healthy and don't want to sacrifice, so unfortunately I have had to raise it and now I don't feel so defeated.
I really enjoyed your expenses check-in :)
Thank you
I’d go back to the $1600 grocery budget and $500 spending since your spending seems to be more household. Then make small incremental decreases such as $25 each of your problem categories until you can’t realistically go any lower. We can’t really control prices of household/grocery prices either.
I definitely need to try to lower my budget incrementally rather than all at once. I don't know what I was thinking.
Since I am watching your videos because I like the intricate sees of how you keep up with things, I look forward to your updates each week. We are truly in a more expensive time, at least in my house. So I can see where we could budget one thing, but, we may spend more. We just have to keep up with everything. Please keep on showing us!
Thank you! I don't plan to stop sharing the ups and downs of budgeting anytime soon!
i think it's more of a underbudgeting issue vs overspending since you're typically buying the same things as you have in the past...an unfortunate reality of inflation. $325-350/week would be more realistic
I agree with that. I definitely don't think that the budget I set this month was realistic. I would love to spend less each week on groceries but the reality is, with the prices of things these days it's just not likely I'll be able to bring my grocery budget down by as much as I would like. That being said, I do want to Rey to make it a point to shop sales and be more diligent with my meal plan so that hopefully I can bring our overall budget down at least a little.
You entered $38.31 instead of $38.81 when you did your subtraction in autopay. Just a heads up.
Oops thank you for letting me know!
I mean this with the utmost respect, have you considered therapy? I believe your overspending directly correlates to your weight loss. It’s like, you’re doing it but not really doing it.
I could probably benefit a lot from therapy. And it is something I'd like to look into sometime. Shopping addiction and food addiction are both things I've struggled with off and on for years. As well as anxiety and depression. I've shared these problems here on my channel.
That being said, I jest and call these videos overspending with Jessi because people tend to click on these videos more often when I do. But the reality is, things have gotten much more expensive. I'm not really shopping too differently from what I have been for years, it's just the prices have all gone up. And while I really do want to spend less, simply because I'd love to have extra money left for other things, I don't think I really go overboard with my grocery shopping. You may disagree, and that's fine. But I'm not going out on wild shopping sprees or blowing my savings. I may not always meet my budgeting goals but in general I've managed to stay within my overall budget 2 out of 3 months this year, and I think that's pretty good.
Why dont you take all your household, and your pet items and your cleaners off your grocery budget and you may not go over budget on your grocery budget or when you do your grocery budget every month put grocery/household-$1800.00 then everyone isnt wondering if thats all groceries. That would make more sense
I have done that in the past and may go ahead and do that again to avoid confusion. Thanks for the suggestion!
