"I doubt you'll see an Olympic champion take a step on their vault" Oh Tim. . if you only knew how things would change. Medals would be awarded for literally falling on your ass in the vault finals!!
I’d actually forgotten she got the silver here. She was a trendsetter, an innovator that could so easily have been an Olympic and world champion… were it not for untimely mistakes.
Thats the great thing about youtube, it means gymnasts like Mo Huilan can be remembered and re-loved despite their record count perhaps - and we can all see gymnasts like Patterson and agree that we are unimpressed.... What Im saying it, Dont be sad for gymnasts who didnt win the big one - We all appreciate and love them here regardless of their medal count
definitely i dont think I’d recover Dominique had a really strong chance to win or medal honestly I don’t think miller could’ve even metalled of everyone hit Dominique could’ve definitely won or git a silver
Poor Mo could never stick..Ive always said she was 1 of the 3 most talented from 94-96, but couldnt put it together...but I will never deny her talent n ability to dominate w consistency during that time.
It's infuriating beyond measure to see gymnasts get a warm-up on the apparatus, which is now denied them for event finals. What a joke. It stands to reason that vault and beam event finals wouldn't have been as much of a splatfest this year if the gymnasts were warmed up.
she was put in because Kerri was injured, and Shannon's compulsory was beautiful, so she scored high there. She didn't need to do both her vaults to qualify. Same reason she was vault finals in 1992.
I would have contested the flashing cameras. Tom Daley in the Olympic mens diving finals contested for a redive because spectators were told no flashing cameras and broke the rules. Too much at stake to have your focus point thrown off by people who were warned.
The U.S. did not have a choice of who replaced Strug, because Miller ended up being the next highest qualifier. Milosivici qualified 3rd, Miller 10th, and Chow 11th, so initially the first reserve for the vault final was Ji Liya in 12th. Milo, Miller, Chow could not compete or be reserves because of the two-per-country rule. However, when Kerri pulled out of the vault final, there were no longer two American in the final, and thus, the next person in line was Miller and so she was called to compete. A similar situation happened with Dawes and Strug in the floor final---Dawes didn't replace Strug, she was just the next highest qualifier.
It made sense that the U.S replaced Strug with the winner of multiple U.S & World championships------- Shannon Miller was a fitting replacement for Strug at vault finals. Dawes had earned her place to the event finals.
@@rdg___ They should have just had Miller fake an injury so Chow could compete since Chow was next in line so it would be easy. Miller was not a medal contender on vault.
That's not all that's infuriating, Catherine B--the ludicrous COP now, the 'judging' which is concerned only with no steps and no OBVIOUS technical errors (allowing all sorts of ugly form breaks as long as they sort of land the big tricks...)
Tesh's job is to act like a regular fan for the audience so he pretends to ask question like a four year fan would, not everyone watch gymnastics year round
@wickedfan5172 Oh I seeeeee. I didn't think he seemed very well informed. I don't know why they let people who know nothing about a sport commentate on it.
well, i really hope that that american girl could have stopped saying " you know, you know, you know " she kept saying that, god. 7 times!!! of course we know, " we will know tomorrow "

Mo is one of my favorite gymnasts of all time. I am glad she was finally able to score an Olympic medal.

I appreciated seeing these intros that explain the importance of the apparatus.

Dawes looked still out of it from the AA. She could have definately vaulted better.
Latonya Wallace it shocked her nerves. Had she vaulted like she did in team optionals she’d have the bronze medal.

Mo actually stuck one of her vaults once here in 1996
What a lovely comment!

Dim Daggert yes Mo probably could have vaulted better but after 24yrs you can't commentate any better
i think that they should have said before the competition ladies and gentlemen please don't use flash photography during the performances
That Chinese girl. What a vault!! 😲
yes,the georgia dome will sound like superdome, because they dont know the diferrence beteewn futbol and artistic gymnastics.
@msms68 to help the tape/bandages stick maybe?
Why does Keri Strug sound like Minnie Mouse?
always thought miller's best chance to podium at an Olys/WCs would've been '95 had she not had that pesky ankle injury in sabae.
Mo was definitely robbed. Amanar took a hop and a big step.
So did Mo, and with only a 10 and 9.9 start value unlike Amanar with two 10s.
@@milkybum6339 Leave Mo alone!
US should have replaced Strug with Chow, since she had the DTY.

@wickedfan5172 To be fair, it WAS a huge step. You don't need to know about gymnastics to see that.
She stuck in the optionals.
why was dawes spraying her arms
molly she’s going to wrap them for the the bars final coming after this.
Qeen Lavinia!
Respect!

It ain't half as bad as "Know whatahmsayin' " two or three hundred times.
mo actually did stick her double in the all around
Nope
@@katevand She took a large step on her first vault but then stuck her 2nd vault in the AA.
Mo wee lawn....cut theee grass....LOL
