Helen William's is one of the best flugel players I've ever heard, she is always so consistent and a pleasure to hear. It's been a while since I played in brass now, I played a little flugel but mainly Eb soprano cornet. These days I just reminisce with a bit of home trumpet playing here and there. ❤
Very good Band is cory one of my cousins played the cornet in the Cory Band many years ago and my father has driven them up to the National Brass Band Champion Ships in the Royal Albert Hall in London a couple of times and to other locations in a coach We originally lived in Gelli In the Rhondda before moving to London then later to Belgium.
I love this, as a Baritone this is a nice little piece to get the feeling back in your lips if you've been playing some long pieces as the baritone's don't play (As you will witness if you watch 1:48 the chap with Glasses plays First Baritone is just stood there while Euphs and and Troms get a nice big beefy melody)

A few years later, Doc Severinsen's playing tickled my ears and later still, Arturo Sandoval. These guys all play with a rather bright sound (although Doc gets a nice mellow tone when he wants it). I've tried dozens of flugelhorns and owned maybe six or seven and tried dozens of mouthpieces and even on the flugel, my sound is rather bright. I guess it's permanently stuck in my brain.
Has anyone here heard of my old man, Roy Garlick? Played Flugel for Fairey's. Never had the pleasure of hearing him play but would be nice to have a comparison.

Love the sound she gets out of the flugelhorn.
She is a class player. Too often you get a bright cornet sound and that is not good. This is perfect tone and shows great skill.
