- In the second part of this four episode documentary, we look at troubled teens. What happens when young people run off the rails? This episode asks why most young adolescents engage in 'dumb things' and breaking the law. We also ask why most of these teenagers return back to a civilised path but some become criminals who continue to offend?
Evidence from a study of over 1,000 individuals over a 40 year period reveals new predictions for future health. Taking place in Dunedin, New Zealand since their births in 1972, 1037 children were studied to provide insight and information into almost every field of social and medical development. Myths are being busted and amazing insight is being provided through this study.

I would've liked to have heard more about their upbringings from the teens in your study. What kind of examples were the parents demonstrating to them at a young age, was there any verbal, physical, or sexual abuse growing up or abandonment? Usually, there is some trauma that the child experienced growing up which can lead to anti-social behaviors and future criminal backgrounds and addiction. Was that even considered w/ the 3-year-olds in your study? I was surprised that it wasn't even touched upon. Children are not just born this way. They are traumatized and influenced by families and communities around them or not around them. That is the most important piece left out of this study that should've been included.
She never mentioned nurture. Surely it isn't all genetic...
What was the study?
