Crucifixus etiam pro nobis sub Pontio Pilato:
Passus, et sepultus est.

He was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate:
He suffered and was buried.

Wow. For a few moments transported out of this world to a much more heavenly place. It takes a heck of a director to get those soft, swirling, interweaving melodies out of the singers, and it's exciting to sing in a place/church with acoustics like that. That happened to me exactly once in my life, in the chapel at Stanford University. No recordings of the most beautiful music I got to participate in for my entire life.
Wonderful collaboration - perfect intonation and dynamic. Thank you and best wishes to all choristers!
Thank you for leading me to the Cross this Holy Week through music.
I've not heard this version of Lotti's Crucifixus before. I absolute love it though! Lotti and suspensions is just divine to listen to!
just wonderful
Magnificent
Gentlemen🎵
I have to believe that children trained and exposed and to play their part in music of this quality receive a gift beyond compare.

Heavenly!!
Splendid !
So nice Music.
great
With all due respect to Stephen Cleobury as a musician and choirmaster, I must confess that I hated the sound of the King's College trebles. However, I have noted that it had begun to evolve under Mr Cleobury's direction in recent years. Given what Mr Daniel Hyde has been able to achieve with the Magdalen College Choir and what I hear today, I have no doubt that the sound of King's College will continue to evolve for the better. Congratulations, Mr Hyde !
I think Daniel Hyde has returned the choir to the tradition of Sir David Willcocks and Sir Philip Ledger. A key component of this is to work in sympathy with the Chapel acoustic.
@@ds1868 In fact, I did not like Willcocks’ sound either. For what it’s worth, my favourite treble sounds : New College under Edward Higginbottom, St Paul under John Scott, Magdalen College under Daniel Hyde, Westminster Cathedral under David Hill and James O’Donnell, St John’s College under George Guest, St John’s College under Andrew Nethsingha (but only for recent choral music - I do not like their sound for Renaissance or Baroque music).
@@thomassavary5067 Well the 'sound' of course is important, but I was specifically referring to the acoustic and ambience at King's and in this respect both interpretation and 'tempo' are important. I hear what you say though with regard to Sir David. Much of his work was magical but personal preference is important. I agree with John Scott, I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions and his passing in 2017 was terrible. In the context of St Paul's Cathedral Barry Rose is also noteworthy. But yes back to Daniel Hyde completely agree we are all pleased in Cambridge to have him back.
@ds1868 Thank you for your comment and insights. Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to listen to the choir in the acoustics of the chapel, which I heard were indeed remarkable. I have only heard the choir of King's College in concert once, in Paris around 2000, in dry acoustics, and I was very disappointed. Men’s voices were good, but the boys' sound was flat and lacked projection. Of course, the acoustics didn't help, but I had heard the Tölzer Knabenchor in the same place and the result was much more satisfying.
I wish Daniel Hyde the best with the choir and look forward to their future recordings.

In God's devotion, a prayer said well.
What is the name of painting on the altar?
The Adoration of the Magi, by Peter Paul Rubens. This was gifted to King's College in the 1960s by a private donation.
