Love this channel sooo much more than Tabletop. These guys are actually playing the game to play the game, not to rattle off one liners and look cool. Nice job guys!
Signs of a good game; - want to play again immediately after finishing it - causes rousing discussion afterwards about decisions made, funny moments, etc - short - easily explained - though short and easily explained, still has a lot of strategy - interactive - smiles all around I will say that removing players from a game is a bad choice (right up there with games where you lose turns) but because the game is so short, it allows for a bathroom break at least and then you’re back in! 😜
I believe you can choose a new Adventurer every new round. The same Adventurer doesn't have to be used for the whole game. The player who just went into the Dungeon chooses the next Adventurer ... or if I am wrong, please let me know!
You know how sometimes you encounter a game design that just speaks to you and makes you really jealous that you didn't think of it first? This is one of those games for me. Just so clever and simple.
This game looks like something that could be directly imported into a house rules pathfinder game with the different characters and their items/abilities. Though that would be a test for another day. Awesome video as always, keep up the good work!
I've never played this game before but after watching this video I believe it'll be more fun if each player plays a different character. Every-time a player decides to take a monster out of the dungeon it also discards one equipment from each of the other players.
I just found this on Boardgamegeek.com "Season 4 will premier exclusively on Alpha (US $4.99/month subscription) .on November 2nd. The first 2 episodes will also be available on UA-cam the same day, but if you don't have an Alpha membership, don't worry. We will begin releasing TableTop season 4 at geekandsundry.com early [2017]." - Courtney Kraft, Alpha community manager. What’s an example as to why you’d want to not put a monster in the dungeon and how to decide what item to take out? I don’t understand how you know when to do that.
31:02 If you are supposed to turn over all cards at the same time (he said this earlier), this rule doesn't make any sense! If you're supposed to turn over all cards at the same time, there shouldn't be any concept of dying after a specific card, because the monsters should really come all at once...
Reading the effects, I don't think using Polymorph allows omnipotence to work- you're defeating a monster, not removing it from the dungeon- just like you defeat the others. So Lincoln shouldn't have won that round. I could be wrong, though, I don't have the rulebook to argue.
Melissa, there are many really great game stores in Japan. Yellow Submarine is one that has quite a few locations. Most stores are tiny but they jam in a lot of games. Thanks for the show and for watching. -Lincoln
I checked the rules: The rules specifically state under the section titled "Dungeon Phase": ...ONE BY ONE, reveal the cards from the Dungeon pile. So you are correct.
Flipping the cards one at a time defeats the point of certain cards/abilities, imo. The way polymorph works in the rules, for example, you flip over all the cards and then choose what to polymorph. If you make the decision immediately, you can end up killing yourself (polymorphing into a pair, for example, when you would have otherwise won).
I guess that's one of the reasons why it's called a "Push you luck" game. The rules specifically state under the section titled "Dungeon Phase": ...ONE BY ONE, reveal the cards from the Dungeon pile. I see your point though.
I'm not sure you're grasping my point. Do the rules state that as you flip them over, you lose even before seeing the final cards? And whether Polymorph works as designed has no bearing on the fact that this is a "push your luck" game.
I'm just quoting the rules as printed. The rule simply states: flip them one by one, not "flip them all" as you suggest. The Polymorph card says Defeat one Monster you draw, replacing it with the NEXT Monster from the deck (once per Dungeon), so I assume it means next monster flipped... regardless of what it is or how it screws you. That's how we've played it anyway. But yes, you got me on my "push your luck" statement. Once you've reached this point of the game you're past the push your luck stage.
I just read the rules again and I think I've stumbled onto something. The rules refer to the the monster cards in two ways: The "monster deck" (all the monster cards) and "dungeon pile" (the cards put into play in the dungeon) Since Polymorph card says "Defeat one Monster you draw, replacing it with the NEXT Monster from the DECK" so there is actually a bit of push your luck. Since you don't know what the top card of the DECK is, you have to decide if it's worth risking possibly turning a Golem into a Dragon.
Will you stop arguing with Nikki and let her pick what she wants?! Even after she pointed to which character she wanted to eliminate as she went through the dungeon, you kept trying to change it.
I believe the issue was: There are Goblins 1 Skeletons 2 Orcs 3. She kept saying Troll and 2.. 10:46. They assume she means Orc 3 as Trolls.. but then points at Goblin 1.
Man! I wish I could have Dave at all my game nights to help explain the rules. Keep up the good work guys.
yeah,my explanations are worse than no explanation.

Never clicked on a video so fast. Love you guys!
YAY!!! I was just thinking, "I wish Game Night would load a new video!" I love your videos... I feel like I am hanging out with friends. - Crystal
They are a very likable bunch.

Nikki I love your tee! IT crowd is one of the best shows!
A great great game! Can't wait to get it and play this game.
Already on my wish list.
Love Gamenight!
Keep it up guys! :D
D20 T-shirt was nice, but Nikki wins with the awesome IT Crowd one!

About half way through I realized Nikki was wearing that sweet IT Crowd shirt. Now I got to find that shirt.

Awesome video as always, keep up the good work!
Just bought the game!! Happy that the french version was out.
There's a new standalone/expansion set coming out soon for this that adds more monsters and characters.
We got fun and games, yes!
36:47 It took me a full minute to try and figure out how Lincoln could win without squirrels!
Love your chemistry as a gaming group! Play Council of Verona next :)

that would be wayyyyyy too complicated
this looks like a lot of fun.
You guys need to play Dungeon Fighter ^^ and maybe review the addons aswell
This game's gonna appear in Season 4 of Tabletop!
IF Season 4 of tabletop ever appears. I heard rumblings on the dice tower, but really have no idea what's going on.
Tabletop Buddha It is coming. We just don't really know when.

Great as usual! I see the box Bora Bora, are you gonna play it?)

Turns out, Scythe has some real similarities to Hyperborea. I wonder if Jamey Stegmaier was influenced by this game?
There was mention at the end of bringing back games from Japan. Where in Japan does one find these games?

@@boardgamegeek Lincoln, just returned from Japan and visited two Yellow Submarines and Roll & Role. Scored some great finds. THANKS!

Welcome to the Jungle
The warrior is suuper easy. The torch and grail cover 1-4, 6. The spear takes out 9. Vorpal sword 7. Then take the 10damage from the two 5's
Yes, but that's only if everyone is putting every card in the dungeon without removing any equipment ;)
If u turn them all over at the same time how can u beat the demon and the "next" monster?
We never played with flipping them all, but I guess it could mean "next monster" in the flipped row? Now I need clarification.

Thanks for checking the rules in depth. I was just going off what was said in the video. Seems like they were playing it right. Good to know.
Feel like this show could use a slight bit of background music appropriate to the game. Enjoying the show otherwise :)
Please play scythe :)
Its a simple game to play but man it is so difficult to explain to new players!
1:51 Not even close, humie
you guys stole tabletop's table lol
