Thanks for this video! I took that bracket off with the two little arms and I've been having a hard time getting it reinstalled. That said, I was trying to do it before putting the caliper back in place, so that'll probably help a lot when pulling the arms back. Hopefully its as simple as you said before going off camera to finish. I'm getting ready to go do it, so I'll report back! :)
Just the right angle and even pressure is the way to go. I am sure you did great!

I have a Mazda MX-5/Miata that came with similar, but much smaller calipers. I replaced them with Wilwood calipers sold by FlyinMiata. Not too difficult a job, much lighter, they work very well. Pad changes are very simple, pull a couple of pins, push the pistons bak and you're in business. Those floating calipers work well enough but are a way to keep costs down.

Fyi there is a 10 warranty extension on the O2 sensors
I never understood why Jaguar went the cheap route and used dual piston floating calipers. Seems like for that kind of money and weight, you're better off with the more standard brakes like brembo 4-pistons or something to that effect.
I would agree. The other side of that is the stopping power and distance even in steel rotor form is pretty impressive.

Do you mean the carbon ceramic?

The carbon ceramics are built by brembo. It is a completely different design but having done brembo brakes before I would say they are easier to do than the steel ones we showed in the video. As in you don't have that plate on the front to deal with. However you will need that tool because there's pistons on both sides of the caliber.

It is still from brembo. Most likely it says brembo on the back of the caliber. It's no different than Lamborghini, porsche, srt even chevy they all have there company logos on the brake calibers but if you look closely there brembo badging
Thank you for this! I’m going to change my moms. I don’t understand why the dealer wants $1100 to change these front pads and rotors. It’s pretty straight forward for someone who knows how to do brakes. One question, is there a reason these rotors cannot be turned instead of replacing them?
No one does that anymore with rotors on anything. They are built much thinner than they used to be an are intended to only last the life of the brake pads
Great video.... Looking for track/street upgraded rotors/pads and calibers (if needed) on my 2015 f-type R any recommendations? Did the 2015 come with different brake options? If so, how can I identify my brake set up to ensure correct aftermarket purchase
Unfortunately we don't have much knowledge in the aftermarket department of the ftype. And now it's sold😪

What are the torque settings for the caliper bolts? Also do you use any anti seize grease?

Hi guys, I “apparently” need all discs and pads changed when I had my service from Jaguar yesterday (14 F type R 33k miles) they are wanting $2k. Would you recommend just going to a local tyre shop to get changed? As it’s not a difficult job.
Ouch!! I would definitely find an Indy shop versus the dealer. You will still be paying over $1k. If you find some place that you can bring the parts to and just pay for labor that would be another option. Doing it yourself will obviously bring a large cost savings.
@@PerformanceOnWheels Yes I will get a quote from somewhere and see if Jaguar can do anything on the price. Not paying double the price for Jaguar just to do it as it’s not a complicated job etc. thanks guys.
@@PerformanceOnWheels quick update.. went to my local tyre garage.. they said discs and pads are fine.. we recommend to just change the rear pads… $155. Makes you laugh doesnt it.
I need the rears Jag quoted me $1400. They said rotors always need to be replaced with pads on these cars?
Not your fault, but the grease on the bracket is going to get on the disc IMHO.
Can you reuse the brake sensors?
Technically you should be able to. Unless the warning was triggered.
The sensor will grind down once the pads get low, breaking the connection and triggering the light, this process also irreversibly destroys the sensor.
