Hello everyone! I am super excited to share with you my latest Aerith's Theme arrangement from the legendary Final Fantasy VII, which was just remade recently. Considering my love for this soundtrack, and Nobuo Uematsu's music in general, it only seemed necessary to start revisiting some of these old classics, this time on the grand piano. I hope you enjoy my performance, and don't forget to like and subscribe 😁 Which track from FFVII should I cover next? Your Pianist, Kyle Landry
This is an absolutely amazing arrangement, Kyle. I've been following you for years and you never cease to bring something new to the table, even with an old classic like this. Just wonderful. Personally, I'd love to see a new take on either Tifa's Theme or On Our Way. I love both of them so dearly. But I'm sure whatever you pick, it'll be phenomenal as always. ^_^
Hey, Kyle. It's been a long time. It's good to see you again, old friend. I first subscribed to your channel back in 2010, I think. Maybe it was 2009. 🤔🤷🏻♂️I saw you play this song, and that lead me to watch so many more of your renditions. (Terra's Theme and your Twilight Princess work are personal favorites). I even made a playlist out of them, and listened to it throughout the many facets of my life. Listening to your versions filled me with nostalgia and wonder. Having been a Final Fantasy fan since 1997, it's nice to see the conversation on my favorite game is starting back up again. It's equally nice to see you play this again with about a decade of growth between the videos. This was lovely, splendid, superb. Thanks for giving me, giving all of us, these beautiful, wonderful expressions... nay, these Kyle Landry visitations of these moments from our personal gaming histories. Never stop playing.
Mike_FRAPPUh The reason for your comments, dear sirs, is that he is playing the real instrument, not an electronic knockoff. Imagine what he could do with an organ...
@@tamalyncervin2117 I know this was meant as a compliment. But it's not just that. It's how he played it: exquisite rubato and phrasing all around, tasteful dynamics, great articulation. Even the arrangement is wonderful; masterfully utilizing the range of the instrument at the right times, and building a story with the ebb and flow of its structure. Just brilliant artistry.
I played the piano over 10 years, I also saw tons of piano cover video on UA-cam, You are absolutely one of the best. I can feel your emotion in your music, and you are not just following the beats, or lyrics, or anything else, you just follow an invisible nature, an impulse, that makes me feel your music is so real, and touching. No matter you are playing the Digital piano or the grand piano, the music and the feeling never changed. I am so happy that I can meet such a wonderful and calm pianist on UA-cam. Best wishes to you!
@@t3hsis324 i would likek to put my mark on this post too. as a piano hobbyist who loves listening to piano. k yle landry is the only that i'm subscribed to; because no one can surpass his passion and love for piano music.
Seth Davis - Pianist and Composer well that’s quite a compliment... have you ever walked around the practice rooms at Julliard...? #notrhetorical #truestory one time I played piano and a guy proposed three times over a span of days. Turned him down every time. He wasn’t up to par... and he smoked cough cough ew .. and another time I dressed all in white and gave a speech and another guy couldn’t work up the courage to have a conversation with me... idk whatever happened to him. And another time I liked a guy who never made a move... so I got kinda tired of waiting... and another time I found someone with decent theology, but he was too little, too immature. What have I been looking for my whole life? Perfection. And I found it, hidden and protected and humble, Jesus. ☦️
Seth Davis - Pianist and Composer Also for the record, how much European music have you listened to lately...? Or are you going popular like everyone else?
Kyle might be the best white male pianist ever, or he might not... I think that honor would have to go to the grandfather of Baroque music, Johann Sebastian Bach Himself, who categorized music into a Western keyboard and had four successful sons become composers... and he was a devout Christian, from the Lutheran denomination. SDG. Please give proper credit where credit is due, or step up your game in terms of research. Thank you.
Tamalyn Cervin - I'm not sure what would fall under European, but I've always enjoyed Beethoven, Brian Crain, Yiruma, Nobuo Uematsu, Joe Hisaishi, Paul Cardall, and of course Kyle Landry. What's great about music is that no one is better than the other. Music is subjective and is good for different reasons depending on the listener's personal tastes.
Of course Kyle would done a better piano cover than the official piano collections release. I don't know why these companies don't go to pianists like you for their covers, you have such a strong passion for recreating memories and making new ones. Aerith's theme is what inspired me to learn piano in the first place 8 years ago, and while I'm finally able to play The Entertainer with only minor mistakes now I won't stop until I can play the official collections version.
Amazing rendition which triggered some thoughts I feel like I should voice out. As a pianist myself, I've always believed that great music in video games and movies always elevate the narrative which is why we love composers like Uematsu and Hisashi even though we're classically trained. Your rendition feels like a telling of Aerith's life story, from how a simple flower girl grew into a heroine that sacrificed herself to save the world. It is a version that encompasses her entire story. But that's not the only thought your version has evoked, it also reminded me of how Nobuo Uematsu's version is so simple yet absolutely perfect for the scene where we first saw Aerith, yet again another perfect fit for the narrative.
I am in shock. I’ve always said Aerith’s Theme is my favorite song of all time. I’ve heard every arrangement under the sun. This is perfect. I can’t hear a single flaw. I really wish this were available on streaming.
Aerith's Theme will never not make me cry. This was a beautiful arrangement. Thank you so much for sharing your talent all these years! I think the first video I ever watched from you was your first Eternal Harvest from FF9. Been a fan ever since!
I. CAN’T. STOP. LISTENING. TO. THIS. Seriously, this is amazing work. At points bittersweet and soft, at others transcendent and soaring. Please put on Spotify if you can!!
seeing this new arrangement upload was definitely a nice surprise. there’s always so much emotion that you put into your playing, and it really makes the nostalgia hit different, you know? i’ve been trying to pick a favorite segment of the video, but i’m p sure it’s impossible-i’ve probably listened to this about 5 times now and am nowhere close to making up my mind, lol. thank you for sharing your music with us, and am definitely hoping for newer arrangements on more ffvii songs in particular! (tifa’s theme, anyone? loll)
I really love your arrangement of Aerith's Theme! There's something about it that gives this strength and grace that I think captures her character in the game.
Amazing arrangement, 4:30 and beyond by far my fav part of the song (especially at 6:04 - 6:46, love the way you play there) . Expertly done man, seriously though, thank you
Ever since I heard the Piano Collections arrangement of this piece, I never thought I would hear another piano arrangement of it that could balance the technicality with the beauty and feeling inherent to “Aerith’s Theme”. I am both pleasantly surprised to see that here portrayed in your arrangement, while at the same time not surprised that it would be you who could do it. Thank you so much for all you do and sharing your wonderful talent! You’ve been a continual inspiration to me over the years and I’m glad to see you’re still posting. May this year find you well!
This piano sounds so good! In the early days of the grand I remember I didn't like the sound much but whatever setup you have right now is working great
Kyle you have such a beautiful, distinctive style of playing that when your video comes up on autoplay I know it's you without looking. Been watching your videos for like a decade now and appreciate you sharing your gift with us!
Waouh, this is by far the most beautiful Aerith's theme arrangement I've ever heard! A perfect blend of delicacy and emotion. Thank you! And for the next cover of FFVII, I would say Tifa's theme, my favorite after Aerith's theme ;)
Stunning. Absolutely, stunning. You hear a lot of covers on youtube, but this one made me feel things I haven't felt since listening to Nobuo Uematsu's piano collections for the first time.
I think partly Kyle being so good when it comes to these covers and Aerith's theme itself being so comforting, you just want to drift off asleep to this. Really so soft and filling for the heart.
This rendition got me thinking about the way people perform this arrangement. It’s not hard to tell when someone is invested, intimate, and as familiar with the heart and soul of the meaning of the music they’re playing, and how they interpret the overarching feelings the music gives them. Pain, tears, remembrance, sorrow of loss, the powerful arcs and tearful, thunderous clutch on the keys, evoking powerful emotion and love-that’s what I drew from how you played this so... passionately. When I was young, I felt the pangs of anger and rage, mixing with the tears upon the loss of Aerith, but her whole being encompasses a notion of love, forgiveness, and optimism. I hear people play like this, with so much force and heart as if to scream out in agony, only for the music to bring them ‘round to peace, and reflect on the memory of who Aerith was, and her wish for healing. Some pianists play with such a light, soft, and gentle mood when they play this arrangement, and while that is always a quiet and tender treat, but this is pure emotion coming out. It speaks like a veteran who’s lived through this tale time and time again, with all the cracks showing from heartbreak.
very touching arrangement. Absolutely stunning. This piece of music is amazing because the way it communicates a message. It's also most as if it is a prayer of aerith pleading with the future but then accepting it. Truly a beautiful work
kylelandry dude. I can hardly describe how much better the newer version is. But at the same time that video 12 years ago is STILL incredible. I guess i am a little biased because it showed me what was possible as a kid. Got as far as the fast and long left hand arps and I couldn’t keep up in high school 😂 still needs practice today even. Thanks for that man.
Omg this is so cool, i really like your arrangement. Im honestly so touched and I am a fan of yours. I cant express this in words but your playing is so beautiful. Thank you so much
When broking up, I always stayed in my dark room and watched u played pianos. Ur music has leaded me to a fantasy dreams. Of hope. Of lost but floating and dying gradually. I love your song which are inspired by Debussy.
God you've gotten so much better from back when you were just trying "those who fight" so glad to have been here and watched ya talent grow. Keep it up Kyle 👍
4:43 I have always thought that this brief cadence is the most impactful moment of this theme in every interpretation. It is almost like an announcement of impending emotion.
Why wasn't this in my recommended!? What's working with UA-cam algorithm! Seriously though, this was a great performance. And you managed to find a great setup for the camera\microphone\audio issues, glad you managed to sort that out; only those who tried know it's far from easy! Now the Grand sounds great, and your performance is inspiring as always. I wish this had more views!
I can almost picture you duoing this with Lara or someone, Kyle. It's already a beautiful arrangement. The emotion in which you play always hooks me instantly.
omg, this was incredible, I just relived playing the final fantasy VII game in my head while listening. Talk about spot on. And my favorite character in the game was Aerith, was weird when the character died off

Kyle, first I wanted to say that I absolutely love your music, you've helped inspire me to get back into playing the piano after a 15 year break. Your music is just simply beautiful, peaceful and impressive. As far as other tracks from FF7 to do...there are so many to choose from but I would love to hear you do "Flowers blooming in the church" Tifa's Theme" or the Main theme from Final Fantasy VII. Once I have saved enough money for a good digital piano I will be buying some of your sheet music for sure
I'm barely a minute in and already had tears in my eyes. Beautifully moving Kyle. I first found and you years ago when I was looking up FFVII music and was blown away back then, its been incredible to watch you play over the years. I would absolutely love to see covers of the classics you did back then (Jenova, Those Who Fight, etc). But anything FFVII you do I will of course watch! :)
I love this!! Reminds me of the time when I performed your arrangement of Terra’s theme at one of my recitals several years ago This makes me want to pick up piano again Thank you for your beautiful music ^^
I was wondering if you'd remake this on the grand!! It sounds wonderful, I'll keep this on loop for a while! If we're revisiting classic, how about a remake of the Main Theme? I know it's been covered and covered but I still love it to bits, every time I hear it in a medley of yours I'm emotional lol
It's good to have such beautiful hand like yours who drawn people into such melodic theme. I have known you from the Howl's Moving Castle theme and that was impeccable. I wish I can play piano like you someday.💕 Truthfully, From your fan.
Hi Kyle, this is amazing! Thank you for playing one of my favourite Final Fantasy themes and I look forward to hearing your future Nobuo Uematsu covers! Hope you can upload a FFX mix some time.. I think I would die! Can't imagine how cool it'd be to hear Calm Before the Storm, Via Purifico, and Yuna's Determination all in one. Keep up the awesome work, you are my piano goals!!

I recently redid Those Who Fight on the grand piano if you wanna check it out, also Eyes on Me, even if it's from FFVIII you might enjoy it ;)
@@kylelandry Eyes on Me is one of my favorites!! Oh man I'm excited, thank you :D
THE BASS SOUND IS SO CRISPPPPPP
You were right when you said you got it tuned a lot on stream hahaha
Keep up the good work Kyle✊
Beautiful, as always. Thank you Kyle.
Ah yes. I remember this. Great remake from your old one!
I love this!!
Reminds me of the time when I performed your arrangement of Terra’s theme at one of my recitals several years ago
This makes me want to pick up piano again
Thank you for your beautiful music ^^
God you continue to be one of the best piano players I have the pleasure of listening to. Never change.
Absolutely beautiful Kyle I look forward from some more songs from the remake!
I wish I can play piano like you someday.💕
Truthfully,
From your fan.
I remember watching you play this a really long time ago! So nostalgic~
such high quality. well done sir.
That end gave me chills. Ohhhhh, Lord.
nice 1 kyle, that piano mic sound is coming on very well! sounds great! it's nice to hear you play the real thing ❤️👏🏻
It wasn't until the help of adding two more mics for the room did it sound like this :)
@@kylelandry Great idea, its definitely took the sound to a new level 👍🏻
I wish i could hit the like button a thousand times
Hi Kyle, this is amazing! Thank you for playing one of my favourite Final Fantasy themes and I look forward to hearing your future Nobuo Uematsu covers! Hope you can upload a FFX mix some time.. I think I would die! Can't imagine how cool it'd be to hear Calm Before the Storm, Via Purifico, and Yuna's Determination all in one. Keep up the awesome work, you are my piano goals!!
So sweet and lovely fantasy piano cover
I just absolutely love this. 🤯🔥
*comes back for more* that piano tho. I miss that sound.
I hoped so much, that it would be Aerith's Theme, and there it is :D wonderful
