The way you were so aggressively set on saving Kate brought tears to my eyes. That was beautiful. Honestly, I know it's only a game, and I know Kate isn't real, but it's still heart-breaking.
okay, maybe I'm getting a bit too emotional here but it really touched my heart that Mari wanted to save Kate no matter what and couldn't go on with the game until she did. I have a friend who was a in a psychiatry for quite a while because she was going through a lot and tried to kill herself. We weren't really close friends when she got there but her mum told me about it. So I visited her a few times 'cause it was in the same city where I worked at the time. Her family and two other close friends of her visited her too. But after some time....they kinda forgot her, were always busy....and I was the only one who came by from time to time later. And could see that she was getting really sad about it, so I went to see her more often, toke her out for walks or just talked to her about her or my day or just random stuff and we got much closer. She mostly looked happy when I was there but of course she had her bad days. But I came by more and more often. Every weekend, twice a week, three days a week and soon I was there every day. Sometimes before work sometimes after. Then even in my lunch break. I've been there for her through her ups and downs because I wanted to help her. But after quite a while she got better and better and soon stable enough to go home . Her doctors said they never had a patient with such a good friend before. When she got back home she told her parents that she will move out, and she did. I helped her with it and when we finished bringing all of her stuff in her new apartment she hugged me and said "thank you" with a look in her eyes I've never seen before.....so deeply grateful that I almost cried and I'm usually not the really emotional type of person. And I will value this moment forever. So I get really touchy when it comes to topics like this ^^' Sometimes all you need is one true friend you can count on :)

So I know how hard it can be to go through something all alone and I don't think it should be like this. Everyone should at least have one person who says "Hey, I'm here for you, I have you back a 100% no matter what."

Ive been in Kates position before, not with the video or anything like that, but with thinking the worlds against her and the depression. I couldnt choose anything but to help her, she doesnt deserve what shes going through.
Tabatha Roberts The game made me feel like an asshole, and I've actually stopped watching "viral videos" because of it, and other stuff. Made me reflect on a lot of stuff when I was in high school...school at the age is such a toxic environment. I really came to feel like Kate was a real person, and that she was really my friend, and by the end of it, I was heartbroken. I saved her, on my first try, so I must have done something right. This game might make others open up about these kind of issues, and actually start discussing them actively. Either way, I hope you are doing well!!!
This game and your playthrough really helped me with my PTSD beacuse I was sexually harrased a few months back and it still freaks me out thinking about it but thanks to you I gathered the courage to seek help and reach out so thank you guys so so much for helping me through this incredible game it really does get better ily guys.
This was an emotionally tough chapter for me to play through. As someone who has had to deal with the suicide of someone close to me, it definitely has an impact on how I think about it and how I react to it in fictional settings. I did find it profoundly powerful to be able to actually have the chance to help and save Kate. I really don't blame you for reloading the game, I couldn't live with that ending either.
Geek Remix I think the game handles tough, real and important subjects in a smart way. It's not just trying to be gritty. I've been really enjoying playing it, despite it sometimes making me an emotional wreck. I've been doing my best to get people interested in trying the game out. Many people I know are discouraged from playing it because it involves teenagers.

Another thing… Does anyone else think that something is going to happen between Chloe and Max? Like, one of them is going to make a move on the other? During both Episodes 1 and 2, they've had these little moments where I just got that feeling. Eh, I'm probably just seeing things.

chiffmonkey Yeah, I saw that in some other Let's Plays. She only sends that if you attempt to shoot Frank. I think it's a different message if you don't try to shoot him.
I've watched a few other LPs of this game, and It's really interesting how guys and girls will play it so differently. Guys will try to make calculated choices. For instance, they will tell Kate to look for proof, and they'll choose to take a picture when David harasses her, Girls on the other hand tend to make choices based on how it would make someone feel at that moment. To them, it's better to make someone feel better now that it is to get a potentially better result later.
you guys are such a great comfort and hilarious duo to watch. I know its been years since this has been posted, and a couple months since being active, but for how depressing this game can be, you guys do so grately at comforting and speaking about the topics being shown.
I've seen quite a few UA-camrs play this game and fail at saving Kate. I wanted see someone actually be able to save her. I'm happy I actually get to see it now. If only PewDiePie, JackSepticEye, CinnamonToastKen, and Cry actually knew how to save Kate but I still love them. At least these girls were smart enough to make the right choices. Good job! :D

If I were max I'd start recording every conversation with authority that goes this way. Every teacher, every principle, every cop. And then I'd take it to the press, because they'd love that shit. The one thing you can count on, is at least one reporter from some news station wanting to be famous for a massive corruption/cover up story more than being paid off by a rich person. Especially in the internet age of viral videos. Hell just turn the recordings into a video and youtube it, then link that to fucking everyone everywhere. a week tops, and that sort of thing'll be all of over the news. Especially the gun-in school thing obviously not being reported to the police.
Could it be possible that max is only rewinding time on earth but not the atmosphere? Iam only asking because if the eclipse isnt supposed to be there then maybe as time is being rewinded on earth its actually fast forwarding the weather and could explain the eclipse.
Wow amazing commentary in this episode. Honestly, I have sat through all night watching all parts. Mari, and Stacy, you ladies have made this great game emotionally exciting and your feels and reactions felt real with honesty and shown that you really care about these characters. It's the best, IT'S THE BEST!! :) I can't wait to see Episode 3, 4, & 5. If this game gets more successful thanks to your playthrough as well as Two Best Friends' awesome LP hopefully Sqaure/Dontnod will make a 2nd season. Also really if you ever have the time I recommend watching Best Friends Play Life is Strange playthru, I'm sure you two would enjoy it, and do take some of Matt and Liams' bits and opinions of certain characters with a salt, but their path of progression and shared sympathy of certain characters (and hatred of Nathan and Victoria) is similiar to yours Thank you again for this LP. Watching Kate's suicide attempt really made me feel emotions I haven't felt in a long time. It unfortunately also reminded me of the time I contemplated ending my own life. It was a pretty dark time but my friend really helped me through the pain and is helping me even today with my emotional instability from previous experiences. The eerie parallel between Kate and Max and myself and my friend really got me. This game, along with this playthrough, definitely finds a way to make players and even watchers feel raw emotions. An excellent playthrough with excellent people of an excellent game. Thank you for making this series of videos.
Before this series I had only watched a couple of your videos, and wasn't sure if I should subscribe or not. But the level of concern and compassion the two of you showed when it came to Kate really touched me(yeah I'm weird, I tear up when other people care about fictional character's I love). Mari's flat out refusal to let Kate die in your save reminded me of my play through and my feelings/thoughts at the time.You two gained me as a loyal viewer. I watched the rest of the LIS series(so far, seeing as episodes 4 and 5 have yet to come out) on your channel and loved it. I can't wait to watch the rest of the series and other videos you two make. God, thank you so much for saving her, as a teenagermuself I know that some shit goes on in highschool (petty drama and otherwise). I have so many friends that have been or are suicidal. It's good to see someone cares. (Even if those someones are strangers on the internet)

It's either trying earn love or being stuck with people that you hate for four years.

I know depression can be effected by serval outside influences as it was for Kate Marsh, but is it possible for it to be unpredictable and out of the blue and without having no clear cause?
I love that you believe even just trying to help makes the a difference, because it makes a huge difference! Just having someone try their hardest to understand and keep you as high as you can be in such a low state means the world to me! I have been in bad positions and known people in worse, thank you both so much for trying to help Kate at every turn! She hit so close to home, i just want her to be happy!
This may be a bit of a long comment (I'll admit I tend to shpeel into detail frequently) and I'm not sure how much it's worth to people, but I know what it's like to struggle with depression when I was in High School. I was bullied relentlessly, to the point where I did begin to question whether or not I wanted to continue living. However, there were other people like me who were struggling with the same types of issues- I put my own pain aside, and I chose to help them when they needed someone. I talked to people in my school when I could and did my best to console them. Some of them were as depressed as I was, and I gave it everything I had to make sure they didn't leave the world earlier than intended. No one ever committed suicide at my school; whether or not I truly prevented anything during my time there I can't say for sure, but I'm glad I was able to help when I was there. In retrospect I was going through the same thing, I just never let anyone know- no one cared enough to ask me how I felt as it was, and the people I was consoling didn't need to worry about trying to take care of me on top of fighting their own demons. Granted that's what I did, but I guess that's just always been me- trudging forward and pulling people out of the muck along the way. Point being, I've seen a lot of 'Nathan Prescotts' growing up. Self-entitled, sadistic, arrogant hacks who don't care who they hurt along the way as long as they get somewhere. I've always fought them, whether it was vocally or physically; for myself, and for other people who didn't have the strength to fight themselves. For anyone and everyone out there who might know someone like Kate, offer them friendship when no one else will. Silence is not bravery; speak up for people who need it, stand up for someone who has no one else by their side. It's true that I had no one there for me in the long run growing up, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be there for others who needed someone; everyone should have a friend. Live life, and live it bravely. Thank you for your time. :)

There were two other (German) Lp-ers who did what you did and replayed the last scene until they got the "good" ending. It's really hard to accept that first outcome, Kate is just so precious! I'm just super nervous that saving her will have worse consequences for her and Max in the next episodes... :( I still cannot help but think that Warren is somehow involved in all this. I know it's crazy but I guess I am just untrusting of the "nice science dork" type characters. And he did ask Max a lot of questions about photography in his email from episode 1. AND didn't he say he saw Kate RIGHT before she decided to commit suicide, hmmm. And...since you were predicting that Alyssa is the one who will get hurt/into trouble next - did you see Warren hugging her in the scene in front of the dorm? And Jefferson - definitely sketchy! Who was that on the phone right before class? He seemed super aggressive and moody after that phone call... Sorry, this was very long. I just love this game so much!!!

I know this was months ago so my thoughts on this don't really matter but it makes me SO UPSET that people are legitimately criticizing your decision to go at it a second time and save Kate because I genuinely admire the fact that you did it. You defied a literal rule in this game which didn't allow you to go back just so you could save a character that you felt extremely passionate about. You cheated. You did. Like 100% cheated. For no other reason than to give this girl the happy ending that they deserved and I am so proud you did. A LOT of respect goes out to y'all.

I'm laughing so hard - you guys made the exact same dialogue choices with Kate as my sister and I did, with the exact same motivations (Matthews DOES sound like a suicide thing, SO MUCH, eugh) and the same reaction to the end result. (Though we cheated to make sure we could save her the second time around. Traumatising segment. Aaahhh.) Can I also say that I haven't been on this channel long enough to learn to identify which voice is who, but whoever said the "Stab Nathan, save Kate, it's the balance of life" and "Is there something we can move underneath her, or-" "NATHAN'S BODY" ~10 minutes in is my hero. Also yes, the ultimate solution, save Kate at any cost. ALSO; you're both absolutely brilliant for taking the time to have that conversation with your audience before/while talking to Mr Jefferson. That was great of you.

@Eric dude, I got emotional reading "The Bridge to Terabithia" when I was little, I cried watching "A Walk to Remember" as a teen AND I cried at the end of "The Last of Us" last year okay? It doesn't matter if it's a book, a movie or a game, if I invest my time into it, I start to connect to the characters and their hardships. I'm a writer, that's just what I do :P

I swear I think this game is designed so that, unless you read strategy guides or have someone talk you thru it, Kate always dies the first time around. That way when you do save her, it's even more enormous.
Unanimous Delivers I also read the bible and note from her dad in her room, and stored them in my brain. I remembered she marked one quote from the bible and crossed out the other, so i knew which one to say. I also knew to tell her that her dad cared, because I remembered the postcard. The other choices i made in the conversation were simply what I thought she would want to hear, and I saved her the first time without any help from other sources. This game is all about paying attention to the smallest things, and they usually end up having a huge effect. Kind of like... a butterfly effect :).
Aww you just missed the interesting part in Jefferson's phonecall :3 Also it's clever how the meanings of the bible quotes push you towards Proverbs rather than Matthew. Don't be so comforted by Warren, you missed what he was doing when time was frozen. But David makes sense for the folders as he's the only other person aware of the link between Rachel and Kate.
I'm new to this channel and just subscribed a few days ago. Love your balance between joking and being serious. I have gone through depression (well, Dysthymia, sometimes combined with depression, still working on the first of those two) and It's good to find a channel that deals with issues like this with respect but still can have a good time through it all. Also, respect to the developers of this game!
I was so glad that I saved her the first time, it was such a relief I was screaming lol. I'm really glad you guys went back because it seems like she dies almost every time I watch a let's play and I hate that.
To anyone watching this lets play and are feeling depressed, stressed, hurt or feel like giving up. Know that regardless of whatever anyone says you are loved. There is always someone who will listen and people who care. I know because, its a struggle I have had for almost all my life. Suicide isn't the answer I know, because I once thought it was too. Never give up, don't give in and believe you are special. You are a treasure not to be torn down in life but built up. Find help, don't hide the pain. Find comfort in the people who care for you.

Whoa, this game got dark! It all feels like it's building up to something grand and no matter what choices you make it's not gonna be pleasant either way. I am thoroughly enthralled with this story. Props to Dontnod and props to you for this LP!

I just finished the game and I managed to save Kate, barely. Though by doing the same thing and restarting from last checkpoint. I couldn't take the fact of just letting her day. I was so mad when she jumped the first time, and I was like "FUCK NO, YOU MATTER WAY MORE THAN CHLOE RIGHT NOW!" And thank God I saved her, the game would be nothing without her. Anyways I also lashed out when you guys didn't pick the right sequence, but I was like please go back! And thank god you did *phew* love the vids by the way!
I binge watched you two play this all day, I discovered your channel this morning as I was listening to soundtracks from the game. You two are awesome keep up the good work! Props for the mad theory skills btw that all went way over my head the first time I played but now I've played the episodes a few more times and it's all coming together. I love this kind of deep thinking in games. I am so pumped for episode 3!!!!!
I love how all the let's players I see at the finale of Episode 2, all have the same type of reaction when they walk around that corner and see Kate on the roof. It really is quite touching to me, to see people feeling genuine concern and anxiety over Kate's problems, and how invested they become in trying to save her. Kudos to the writers for nailing the finale's emotional impact so perfectly. I get teary eyed every time I watch it. Partly because of Kate's anguish, and partly from hearing the genuine worry in the Let's Players' voices. You ladies are like the 6th Let's Play of this I've seen, and everyone reacts the same, especially if Kate dies. It's wonderful. xD
I have Bipolar disorder and I can tell you this, sometimes depression hits you hard and you just can't be alone. You'd be surprised which friends will drop everything, and make a pillow fort and stay the night with you because you told them "Hey, I can't be left alone with myself tonight. Could you please come keep an eye on me?" And you know what? KEEP THOSE FRIENDS! Those people are the bees knees and deserve a soda. They are out there, there is always some one out there that cares, even if they don't know you.
I love that you saved Kate. My reaction was the exact same when she jumped and I would have been heartbroken, if you had gone on and not even tried to save her. Because unlike others here I do not have the privilege to play these sort of games and it would have really messed me up to have to deal with a dead Kate when she could have been saved. So thank you for your passion and for your rants and for always making sure that whoever watches this knows that there are ways to seek help despite how depressing the situation in the game is.

I couldnt trust my teachers and school at one point even shut down for a while until high school then i began to trust my teachers again one teacher was there for me through all of it. When i finally stopped crying about Kate, you girls started talking about suicide and you are so kind and careful, it just made me melt all over again. This game is fucking beautiful, I've watched it before in another channel but I just had to watch your version because the two of you truly connect to the characters.
I started playing this. But... when I started playing this episode. I had to turn it off within the first 5 minutes. So many triggers were going off and I was so angry, I put it away for a few days. I finished this so angry. I'm not saying this isn't a good game. It's an amazing game. But I would't recommend this to anyone who has trouble with triggers.

You thought exactly like me, that the "Matthew thing" was pretty suicidal and to chose the Proverb instead. And i did the exact same thing, i rewind because i couldnt bear the idea to have let her die. Kate is my sweet angel in this game, i hope we could see her in the next episode (not a Telltale thing, where we barely see the person who was supposed to die). Kudos for rewind and saving her ! Guys, has anyone else noticed the raven statue on the principal's desk?!? The raven is an important trickster figure in native American mythologies, and it is also evoked to separate the truth from lies. Now, notice how the raven figure lines up perfectly with Jefferson in almost every shot, especially when Max has to decide who to blame for what happened to Kate!!! Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing this!?!

I remember playing this and saving Kate on the first try. I didn't realize Kate could die until I saw the choices at the end and being literally scared shitless for a millisecond before being so happy I didn't let her die.
Really fucks up the experience when you just don't accept to deal with the consequences of your decisions. Which is somehow exactly what Max is doing all the time...
Episode 3 prediction: sentient feet use flashlights to kill all they townspeople and Max and Chloe are the only survivors and are hiding in the hospital

Would have done that too~ (Thankfully, I watched a playthrough of EP 1 and 2 before I played LiS myself, so I basically knew the right answers and that a scene like this would come up [oh the triggers], but if I messed up I would've replayed until Kate is saved, tbh. For personal reasons and because Kate Marsh must bE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS! ... uhm. Yeah.)
I kinda wish the saving kate part wasnt so game-y, but I think its hard to convey things like that in a video game.. but I love the way max realizes that her actions can have consequences, and her power wont help her in every situation, brings really out the title of the game... life is strange and everything that comes with it. Also the fact that everyone keeps stressing that they with they had the power to go back in time, and that max is such a great hero, and we know, her fucking with time, got all this in motion.. kinda... The eclipse in the end, I dont know if thats just them confirming that bullshitting with time with fuck everything up! oh and Victoria, you better feel bad... and your last words starting from 37:40 kinda helped me and made me think.. in a positive way, for once :)

In small towns not being believed when the person you were victimized by is well-known/respected is really, REALLY common. My sister told me to my face that I was a liar and was trying to ruin the life of a "good man" after I was assaulted.
how were they so on point with Jefferson from the beginning?! when I played I liked Jefferson. he was sarcastic and snarky and when the truth was revealed about him I was SHOOK. its amazing how they were able to pin him down so easily
I agree with you guys. The opportunities to help Kate seem very limited in this game. On the other hand, the game does a really good job of simulating the helplessness that teens can feel when they're dealing with adults. Adults tend to underestimate teens and undervalue what they have to say--that sense of feeling out of control is probably similar to what you feel playing this game.
I'm not so interested in the game, but that's the BEST COMMENTARY EVER, of all time. That makes watching that story even more emotional. Live long and prosper
The way you were so aggressively set on saving Kate brought tears to my eyes. That was beautiful. Honestly, I know it's only a game, and I know Kate isn't real, but it's still heart-breaking.
okay, maybe I'm getting a bit too emotional here but it really touched my heart that Mari wanted to save Kate no matter what and couldn't go on with the game until she did.
I have a friend who was a in a psychiatry for quite a while because she was going through a lot and tried to kill herself. We weren't really close friends when she got there but her mum told me about it. So I visited her a few times 'cause it was in the same city where I worked at the time. Her family and two other close friends of her visited her too. But after some time....they kinda forgot her, were always busy....and I was the only one who came by from time to time later. And could see that she was getting really sad about it, so I went to see her more often, toke her out for walks or just talked to her about her or my day or just random stuff and we got much closer. She mostly looked happy when I was there but of course she had her bad days. But I came by more and more often.
Every weekend, twice a week, three days a week and soon I was there every day. Sometimes before work sometimes after. Then even in my lunch break. I've been there for her through her ups and downs because I wanted to help her. But after quite a while she got better and better and soon stable enough to go home . Her doctors said they never had a patient with such a good friend before.
When she got back home she told her parents that she will move out, and she did. I helped her with it and when we finished bringing all of her stuff in her new apartment she hugged me and said "thank you" with a look in her eyes I've never seen before.....so deeply grateful that I almost cried and I'm usually not the really emotional type of person.
And I will value this moment forever.
So I get really touchy when it comes to topics like this ^^'

I really came to feel like Kate was a real person, and that she was really my friend, and by the end of it, I was heartbroken. I saved her, on my first try, so I must have done something right.

As someone who has had to deal with the suicide of someone close to me, it definitely has an impact on how I think about it and how I react to it in fictional settings. I did find it profoundly powerful to be able to actually have the chance to help and save Kate. I really don't blame you for reloading the game, I couldn't live with that ending either.

I've watched a few other LPs of this game, and It's really interesting how guys and girls will play it so differently. Guys will try to make calculated choices. For instance, they will tell Kate to look for proof, and they'll choose to take a picture when David harasses her,
Girls on the other hand tend to make choices based on how it would make someone feel at that moment. To them, it's better to make someone feel better now that it is to get a potentially better result later.
you guys are such a great comfort and hilarious duo to watch. I know its been years since this has been posted, and a couple months since being active, but for how depressing this game can be, you guys do so grately at comforting and speaking about the topics being shown.
I've seen quite a few UA-camrs play this game and fail at saving Kate. I wanted see someone actually be able to save her. I'm happy I actually get to see it now. If only PewDiePie, JackSepticEye, CinnamonToastKen, and Cry actually knew how to save Kate but I still love them. At least these girls were smart enough to make the right choices. Good job! :D

If I were max I'd start recording every conversation with authority that goes this way. Every teacher, every principle, every cop. And then I'd take it to the press, because they'd love that shit. The one thing you can count on, is at least one reporter from some news station wanting to be famous for a massive corruption/cover up story more than being paid off by a rich person. Especially in the internet age of viral videos.
Hell just turn the recordings into a video and youtube it, then link that to fucking everyone everywhere. a week tops, and that sort of thing'll be all of over the news. Especially the gun-in school thing obviously not being reported to the police.

Watching Kate's suicide attempt really made me feel emotions I haven't felt in a long time. It unfortunately also reminded me of the time I contemplated ending my own life. It was a pretty dark time but my friend really helped me through the pain and is helping me even today with my emotional instability from previous experiences. The eerie parallel between Kate and Max and myself and my friend really got me. This game, along with this playthrough, definitely finds a way to make players and even watchers feel raw emotions. An excellent playthrough with excellent people of an excellent game. Thank you for making this series of videos.
Before this series I had only watched a couple of your videos, and wasn't sure if I should subscribe or not. But the level of concern and compassion the two of you showed when it came to Kate really touched me(yeah I'm weird, I tear up when other people care about fictional character's I love). Mari's flat out refusal to let Kate die in your save reminded me of my play through and my feelings/thoughts at the time.You two gained me as a loyal viewer. Most people are under the impression that for teenagers, it all about being popular, and sometimes it is but for those that are desperate it's more about having friends that really like you and actually want to hang out with you. It's either trying earn love or being stuck with people that you hate for four years.
So in general, would you say the darkness could be anything and it range from person to person. For some it's to feel exclude and isolated from peers or not being good enough at what you do, etc?

That last thing you said about hating yourself regardless of the people around you. Do you think that it's a symptom of depression? I know depression can be effected by serval outside influences as it was for Kate Marsh, but is it possible for it to be unpredictable and out of the blue and without having no clear cause?
I love that you believe even just trying to help makes the a difference, because it makes a huge difference! Just having someone try their hardest to understand and keep you as high as you can be in such a low state means the world to me!

This may be a bit of a long comment (I'll admit I tend to shpeel into detail frequently) and I'm not sure how much it's worth to people, but I know what it's like to struggle with depression when I was in High School. I was bullied relentlessly, to the point where I did begin to question whether or not I wanted to continue living.
However, there were other people like me who were struggling with the same types of issues- I put my own pain aside, and I chose to help them when they needed someone. I talked to people in my school when I could and did my best to console them. Some of them were as depressed as I was, and I gave it everything I had to make sure they didn't leave the world earlier than intended. No one ever committed suicide at my school; whether or not I truly prevented anything during my time there I can't say for sure, but I'm glad I was able to help when I was there.
In retrospect I was going through the same thing, I just never let anyone know- no one cared enough to ask me how I felt as it was, and the people I was consoling didn't need to worry about trying to take care of me on top of fighting their own demons. Granted that's what I did, but I guess that's just always been me- trudging forward and pulling people out of the muck along the way. Point being, I've seen a lot of 'Nathan Prescotts' growing up. Self-entitled, sadistic, arrogant hacks who don't care who they hurt along the way as long as they get somewhere. I've always fought them, whether it was vocally or physically; for myself, and for other people who didn't have the strength to fight themselves.
For anyone and everyone out there who might know someone like Kate, offer them friendship when no one else will. Silence is not bravery; speak up for people who need it, stand up for someone who has no one else by their side. It's true that I had no one there for me in the long run growing up, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be there for others who needed someone; everyone should have a friend.

There were two other (German) Lp-ers who did what you did and replayed the last scene until they got the "good" ending. It's really hard to accept that first outcome, Kate is just so precious! I'm just super nervous that saving her will have worse consequences for her and Max in the next episodes... :(
I still cannot help but think that Warren is somehow involved in all this. I know it's crazy but I guess I am just untrusting of the "nice science dork" type characters. And he did ask Max a lot of questions about photography in his email from episode 1. AND didn't he say he saw Kate RIGHT before she decided to commit suicide, hmmm. And...since you were predicting that Alyssa is the one who will get hurt/into trouble next - did you see Warren hugging her in the scene in front of the dorm?
And Jefferson - definitely sketchy! Who was that on the phone right before class? He seemed super aggressive and moody after that phone call...

I know this was months ago so my thoughts on this don't really matter but it makes me SO UPSET that people are legitimately criticizing your decision to go at it a second time and save Kate because I genuinely admire the fact that you did it. You defied a literal rule in this game which didn't allow you to go back just so you could save a character that you felt extremely passionate about. You cheated. You did. Like 100% cheated. For no other reason than to give this girl the happy ending that they deserved and I am so proud you did. A LOT of respect goes out to y'all.

I'm laughing so hard - you guys made the exact same dialogue choices with Kate as my sister and I did, with the exact same motivations (Matthews DOES sound like a suicide thing, SO MUCH, eugh) and the same reaction to the end result. (Though we cheated to make sure we could save her the second time around. Traumatising segment. Aaahhh.)
Can I also say that I haven't been on this channel long enough to learn to identify which voice is who, but whoever said the "Stab Nathan, save Kate, it's the balance of life" and "Is there something we can move underneath her, or-" "NATHAN'S BODY" ~10 minutes in is my hero. Also yes, the ultimate solution, save Kate at any cost.

@Eric dude, I got emotional reading "The Bridge to Terabithia" when I was little, I cried watching "A Walk to Remember" as a teen AND I cried at the end of "The Last of Us" last year okay? It doesn't matter if it's a book, a movie or a game, if I invest my time into it, I start to connect to the characters and their hardships. I'm a writer, that's just what I do :P

I swear I think this game is designed so that, unless you read strategy guides or have someone talk you thru it, Kate always dies the first time around. That way when you do save her, it's even more enormous.
Unanimous Delivers I also read the bible and note from her dad in her room, and stored them in my brain. I remembered she marked one quote from the bible and crossed out the other, so i knew which one to say. I also knew to tell her that her dad cared, because I remembered the postcard. The other choices i made in the conversation were simply what I thought she would want to hear, and I saved her the first time without any help from other sources. This game is all about paying attention to the smallest things, and they usually end up having a huge effect. Kind of like... a butterfly effect :).

I'm new to this channel and just subscribed a few days ago. Love your balance between joking and being serious. I have gone through depression (well, Dysthymia, sometimes combined with depression, still working on the first of those two) and It's good to find a channel that deals with issues like this with respect but still can have a good time through it all. Also, respect to the developers of this game!
I was so glad that I saved her the first time, it was such a relief I was screaming lol. I'm really glad you guys went back because it seems like she dies almost every time I watch a let's play and I hate that.
To anyone watching this lets play and are feeling depressed, stressed, hurt or feel like giving up. Know that regardless of whatever anyone says you are loved. There is always someone who will listen and people who care. I know because, its a struggle I have had for almost all my life.
Suicide isn't the answer I know, because I once thought it was too. Never give up, don't give in and believe you are special. You are a treasure not to be torn down in life but built up. Find help, don't hide the pain. Find comfort in the people who care for you.

I just finished the game and I managed to save Kate, barely. Though by doing the same thing and restarting from last checkpoint. I couldn't take the fact of just letting her day. I was so mad when she jumped the first time, and I was like "FUCK NO, YOU MATTER WAY MORE THAN CHLOE RIGHT NOW!" And thank God I saved her, the game would be nothing without her. Anyways I also lashed out when you guys didn't pick the right sequence, but I was like please go back! And thank god you did *phew* love the vids by the way!

I binge watched you two play this all day, I discovered your channel this morning as I was listening to soundtracks from the game. You two are awesome keep up the good work! When you chose Proverbs I was like "NOOOO! What did you just do?!" And when you did it again I was like "Thank God!"
I love how all the let's players I see at the finale of Episode 2, all have the same type of reaction when they walk around that corner and see Kate on the roof. It really is quite touching to me, to see people feeling genuine concern and anxiety over Kate's problems, and how invested they become in trying to save her. Kudos to the writers for nailing the finale's emotional impact so perfectly. I get teary eyed every time I watch it. Partly because of Kate's anguish, and partly from hearing the genuine worry in the Let's Players' voices. You ladies are like the 6th Let's Play of this I've seen, and everyone reacts the same, especially if Kate dies. It's wonderful. xD
I have Bipolar disorder and I can tell you this, sometimes depression hits you hard and you just can't be alone. You'd be surprised which friends will drop everything, and make a pillow fort and stay the night with you because you told them "Hey, I can't be left alone with myself tonight. Could you please come keep an eye on me?" And you know what? KEEP THOSE FRIENDS! Those people are the bees knees and deserve a soda. They are out there, there is always some one out there that cares, even if they don't know you.
I love that you saved Kate. My reaction was the exact same when she jumped and I would have been heartbroken, if you had gone on and not even tried to save her.
Because unlike others here I do not have the privilege to play these sort of games and it would have really messed me up to have to deal with a dead Kate when she could have been saved.

I started playing this. But... when I started playing this episode. I had to turn it off within the first 5 minutes. So many triggers were going off and I was so angry, I put it away for a few days. I finished this so angry. I'm not saying this isn't a good game. It's an amazing game. But I would't recommend this to anyone who has trouble with triggers.
I am so glad you chose to save Kate! I watched a lot of other UA-camrs decide to kill her off, but I really liked Kate. ^-^ and even though she died at first glad you went back and saved her again!

I'm so glad you went back and changed Kate's timeline. I got into watching this game through PewDie but his game let Kate go and I had to find another outcome. So glad I found your coverage; you offer entertaining & informative commentary on the game and the serious issues it brings up.
You thought exactly like me, that the "Matthew thing" was pretty suicidal and to chose the Proverb instead. And i did the exact same thing, i rewind because i couldnt bear the idea to have let her die. Kate is my sweet angel in this game, i hope we could see her in the next episode (not a Telltale thing, where we barely see the person who was supposed to die). Kudos for rewind and saving her ! I can't wait for episode 3 (i'll play, and then i'll watch your let's play). You're the best !

Guys, has anyone else noticed the raven statue on the principal's desk?!? The raven is an important trickster figure in native American mythologies, and it is also evoked to separate the truth from lies. Now, notice how the raven figure lines up perfectly with Jefferson in almost every shot, especially when Max has to decide who to blame for what happened to Kate!!! Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing this!?!

I remember playing this and saving Kate on the first try. I didn't realize Kate could die until I saw the choices at the end and being literally scared shitless for a millisecond before being so happy I didn't let her die.

I'm so glad you decided to replay that part. Would have done that too~ (Thankfully, I watched a playthrough of EP 1 and 2 before I played LiS myself, so I basically knew the right answers and that a scene like this would come up [oh the triggers], but if I messed up I would've replayed until Kate is saved, tbh. For personal reasons and because Kate Marsh must bE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS! ... uhm. Yeah.)
I kinda wish the saving kate part wasnt so game-y, but I think its hard to convey things like that in a video game.. but I love the way max realizes that her actions can have consequences, and her power wont help her in every situation, brings really out the title of the game... life is strange and everything that comes with it. Also the fact that everyone keeps stressing that they with they had the power to go back in time, and that max is such a great hero, and we know, her fucking with time, got all this in motion.. kinda... The eclipse in the end, I dont know if thats just them confirming that bullshitting with time with fuck everything up!

how were they so on point with Jefferson from the beginning?! when I played I liked Jefferson. he was sarcastic and snarky and when the truth was revealed about him I was SHOOK. its amazing how they were able to pin him down so easily
I agree with you guys. The opportunities to help Kate seem very limited in this game.
On the other hand, the game does a really good job of simulating the helplessness that teens can feel when they're dealing with adults. Adults tend to underestimate teens and undervalue what they have to say--that sense of feeling out of control is probably similar to what you feel playing this game.
I'm not so interested in the game, but that's the BEST COMMENTARY EVER, of all time. That makes watching that story even more emotional.
