  • After five years of disappointment, Raju Daire has hope that the clouds of crisis looming over his livelihood are now gone. Raju, who belongs to the fishermen's community, lives in Machhli Kanta Basti near Sarani reservoir in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. There are about 250 families like him in the colony. All of their livelihoods depend on the fisheries, which depend on the pond in their village.
The last five years have been no less than a disaster for this community. The reason for the disaster was the extremely invasive foreign aquatic weed that had made inroads in the reservoir known as Salvinia molesta. Watch the full video to learn how the local people solved the issue with experts' help.

Biosolution are the future. But just wanted to ask, how are these insects discarded after they have decomposed the plants, and do they pose any new threat to the pond ecosystem.

Whenever humans introduced a species in an ecosystem, be it frogs, rabbits or boar, it eventually ravaged the local ecosystem due to lack of natural predators. If this continues as planned, this would be superb!

Maybe because of the huge biodiversity in Amazon rainforests.
