When we run a three-row family crossover like the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas on the TFL Slip test, it can sometimes be a coin flip on how it's going to perform. This time around, though, the Atlas proved a capable option if you're looking for an all-weather family hauler -- here's what happened!

I absolutely love mine 2024 SEL R line
Well...if you don't get the R-line you won't be paying nearly that much. You get nearly all of the same features in the lower trims as well. VW does a great job in base load for trims. My wife and I love our 2019 Atlas and we're driving around a 2024 SE with tech and it's awesome.
I bought a 24 Highline. I’m impressed by the motor. Family loves the car. Looking forward to the full off road test.
I have had my since August 23, 21000 mile and never missed a beat. 4 snow tires on and this is a beast in the snow and ice. 24mpg all day long.
That’s a big Volkswagen !
Thanks Tommy for an excellent review. Love your shows, the high quality photography and your objectiveness. Keep you the good work
Tiguan next.
Hey Tommy, you should rank individual AWD & 4WD vehicles on their respective performance on your slip test. This would inform consumers of traction performance, which is important for those of us living in locations where inclement weather can present a problem. Think of like what Top Gear would do with lap times around their track.
4 cylinder turbo engines are replacing the V6 and the twin turbo v6 are replacing V8..
the video that I didn't ask but needed
That's a nice-looking automobile
You should test the 2024 volkswagen atlas peak edition that is the off-road version.
Yeah, it's just better tires though.
yaaay finally another VW review from TFL!!!
Do the 2024 Tiguan
My neighbor, a senior citizen had a Passat. It was in immaculate, pristine condition. Transmission failed just under 100k miles.
VW / Audi is a brand that you should only lease.
here in Mx you can see VW (made in Mx or Chattanooga) with +200K miles working fine, my brother in law has a 2008 Jetta with 322K miles
If it’s Passat venting time I bought one in late 2018, I got rid of it at just 32k miles in late 2023
In five years:
Engine carbon buildup to the point the car would start violently shaking when driving, throwing EPC and check engine lights and going into limp mode each time. Dealer replaced fuel injector wiring harness and cleaned the engine after fighting for way too long
Slipping transmission
Throttle control issue of some kind, car wouldn’t move from a red light but if you took your foot all the way off the throttle and back on it would act like nothing happened. 2 dealers couldn’t recreate but it did this all the time
Dead power seat
Dead sunroof, also leaked briefly
Fuel door stuck locked
Rear taillight filled with water every time it rained
Could not get anybody to lemon law it even with a lawyer, sold to Carvana and I’m sorry to whoever has it now. It’s a shame because I liked it a lot when it worked
Tread lightly
Great video...
👏👏
2.0 Turbo stressed to the maximum, it screams everytime you start the car
No, it doesn't. The VR6 was barely capable of moving this vehicle. The 2.0 goes with ease.
STOP WITH THE PIANO BLACK. IT LOOKS TACKY AS HELL.
Worth 30k as soon as you sign the paperwork
If it wasn’t for the CX90 hybrid with way better mpg I would consider this
The Mazda is definitely the superior vehicle of the 2.
This seems to have better storage and seating though.
@jimsomerville3924 the Atlas is a larger vehicle, yes.
@@mikethebeast1012 They're the same footprint on the outside though.
Off road mode?
No one's offloading a vw.
Yes, they were. Touareg first gen and the T3 Syncro with a realy good awd system by Steyr Daimler Puch (now Magna Steyr).
Will we every have the future wives of tfl cast as helpers and pretty Talkers. If they have the skill and passion for car talk?
OH GOD please NO... Listening to them whine and cry about everything all the time, This is not constructive journalism in any way shape or form. I used to love watching these guys when their videos had style and entertainment but the last year, taken a horrible turn for the worst and ended up unsubscribing. They need to go back to their roots of fun , different entertaining content. They are no better than any of the other 10000 review channels out there.
$1250 for service where I live. No thanks. Also here in the middle east VW and Audi have a terrible reputation for lack of reliability
VW completely destroyed their Atlas......it now comes with 2lit turbo engine.....there are more capable & better options in the market🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
It's a szmelc-wagen. Their prices loose in USA are somehow reasonable. But here in Europe, especially in eastern part, people love them and they are overpriced 😆
The vr6 was underpowered. It moves much better with the 2.0T.
@@TheNotimprezedIt does move a lot better I have one it drives nice and I enjoy it, my only concern is reliability, 7k miles it’s been fine but I don’t think it’s as reliable as VR6
Couldn’t agree more, but the deal killer for me is all the touch sensitive switch gear??? If that screen malfunctions your done, please VW real buttons PLEASE AND the fake exhaust tips, WHY ????
@johnvovakes9861 The new Atlas has the EA888 which is the same engine they have been using in the golf/a3 and more. I have personally put 120k on one with no issues. Just regular maintenance and some preventive maintenance
This test is irrelevant, this vehicle is a pile of garbage. Don't even think about getting one
FACTS!!
Why? I had a 2019 and now have a 2024. The 2024 is much better than the 2019. No problems with either.
Just did a roadtrip to Destin,FL from New Braunfels,TX… I have this exact 2024 model & the drive was super smooth. The highway passing with the new 2.0T is very impressive. The kids travelled in comfort and we had plenty of space for cargo. I have 8,000 miles currently and did my own 1st oil change at 5000mi. This vehicle gets so much un-warranted hate for some reason.
@@eer1988 just wait, and you will find out how warranted it in fact is. Some people refuse to learn from the mistakes of others
@@kevinbarry71 I’m sorry you went though a rough patch with yours. Even the best brands have a few bad apples. I’ll stay on top of the maintenance and hopefully not need warranty work. Either way thanks for responding. Stay safe out there and best of luck on your vehicle.
VW might as well just name these - a Small SUV, a Large SUV, a Car. So bland and boring.
That's all crossovers.
Unreliable.
2023 with 16,000 miles & several long trips with np problems
Yall over here saying 16k miles is reliable? SMH… please take a look at Toyota cars. Fiats are the worst of the worst
Atlas was reliable & better till 2022 with VR6 engine.....This new one, don't even dare to touch it unless you have loads of 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
@@sothickitssickkI had two Fiats ( Ritmo and Uno) which were already old when I bought them. Took them all over europe without any issues. My sister owns a 500 since 15 years without any problems. Had one VW Golf with a shrunken camshaft.
Fiats don't have a good reputation in Germany but as far as I noticed all Fiats within friends and family had no big problems.
@@stefanfalldorf6573 do you work for fiat? Haha
