    A little label saying door release just beside the switch would be good. But well done, unbelievable LR don't have an internal release, just for safety if nothing else.

    In all honesty, Landrover should have fitted this to the rear door from day 1. They already have a boot opening switch for rear-lifting tailgates, so why they couldn't fit that same switch to the Defender I cannot fathom. Naturally, the rear door does not need to be powered of course. In the presentation launch of things that they had carried over from the old Defender, the mechanical rear door inner handle, should have been one of those features! At the very least, they could have allowed it to release using the electronic key that seems to come with every Landrover of any shape and size.

    Simon is there any chance you could look at the locking fuel flap. I know you had a look at yours, but I’ve got the new model which doesn’t lock. It’s a big oversight in my opinion and I’ve heard that they’ve even taken it off the new RR.

      I need to look at this again - I had a circuit worked out - my plan was to link the lock to the tail light circuit - as the tail light is external and close. Don't you have a video on how to remove the door card from the rear door on the L663? I'm trying to install the switch I purchased from you but can't get the rear door card off to access the plug.
    A friend of mine was sleeping in the back of my Defender 110 and we had accidentally engaged the child locks for the rear doors - picture a fat old man trying to exit the 110 in the middle of the night for a relief moment and he couldn't get any of the rear doors open. Simon,
    I replied to you a few days ago but it didn't show up- I had some links to photos on google drive- maybe that's why. Anyway, your idea won't help with the 90- there is not any storage under there- just the styrofoam thingy with the jack, wheel lock key, etc.- no well in the styrofoam like on the 110. My thoughts (the photo links were to a mockup I had tried and the available space/ current situation) are a replacement for the styrofoam thingy that has just a well instead of the molded cutouts for the jack, etc. That would at least allow me to get my recovery gear, small air compressor, wheel chocks, etc. under there and allow some actual useful stuff in the boot!

    Another useful idea Simon…odd that JLR didn’t spot that. My only thought is that if thieves smashed the glass they could open the door in seconds. Could the release button by key operated using a key stored somewhere in or on the boot lining? Good work though! 😀😀😀Richard.
    Update…Could the release be mounted low on the door trim panel but recessed to overcome the problem Mrs Powerful has identified? That makes it harder to spot and maybe reach…🤔🤔

    • @L663
      @L663  2 роки тому +1

      I do not think they could open the door with the car locked as all the internal button does is the same as the external button - which of course does not open the rear door when locked. If camping in the car you would need to unlock the door first ( with your keyfob ) before the internal release would work ( if you had locked your car )

    Simon,
    FYI, the back part of the little switch where the wire terminals are threads off! It must have loosened when I was fixing the switch to the "pocket"- I must have been holding it to stop the switch from spinning when tightening the nut. I caught it in time (i.e. before I reassembled everything ), tightened it, tested it again and then superglued it so it won't vibrate loose. You guys might want to put a drop of superglue on that at your end, as it could end poorly for many people. Additionally, the wires to the harness are a bit short. Tends to want to pull on the connectors and disappear out of reach when connecting the harness up to the car harness. Doesn't drop down, but I don't have lady hands and retrieving it is not fun...Why so much wire attached to the switch and so little to the harness when the connector lives up near the switch? Otherwise good kit.

    • @L663
      @L663  2 роки тому +1

      Hi William - thanks for the feedback - I am away but I have asked the team to take a look at the switches and add glue as this seems a good idea. I made the switch wire long enough to use as a feed wire to feed down and pull back - so it ends up being a bit longer than needed when installed. I will get an extra 10cm of wire added to the connector loom on the next order.

      @@L663 Simon, I appreciate your willingness to take constructive feedback. Many companies don't!
      Now how about creating a storage solution for under the boot cover in the back of a L663 90? Such a lot of wasted space and so little space in the boot. With your laser scanner you should be able to create one easily, although I imagine the available space varies depending on what modules are hidden under there because of options (tow bar module, etc.)

    • @L663
      @L663  2 роки тому

      @@Usna1990 I have been thinking about this - how about a replacement top panel that is split in two so you have a smaller lift up flap over the rear half - maybe with gas struts to support it - this way the space would be easier to access.
