"Beyond the Ice Palace" title music, ZX Spectrum 128k - bugfixed version!

- The Spectrum (and Amstrad) versions of Beyond the Ice Palace contain a glitch in their music data which throws out a couple of notes in the main melody. After this had annoyed me for 25 years (yes, yes, I know, but those two notes really do ruin it for me!) a post to the World of Spectrum forums finally spurred me into asking if anyone could help fix this. And after a couple of days of tag-team effort.... it was fixed!
This recording is the bugfixed version of David Whittaker's excellent piece, presented here as it should always have been (and was, if you were a C64, ST or Amiga owner). The fixed version of the game itself should make its way to WOS sometime in the next few days.
Thanks to Bandit for his assistance in correcting this after all this time!

I never played this game so it's the first time I've heard this tune. I like it :)
I played this game when it came out for weeks maybe months. And loved the music, being already a fan of Whittaker’s music and this music clearly demonstrates his genius. It really is a masterpiece and beautifully captures the essence of the game. One can hear the ice so clearly and loudly!
The different parts sound better in the overall mix than in the ST version and the bassline is better.
I'm in love with this track!
ah yes, the game that was supposed to be a Thundercats game
I find it sounds much better than the Atari ST version.
Is this Speccy tune recorded from a real Speccy or is it emulation (thus with enhanced sound) ?
All my Speccy videos are recorded from the FUSE emulator, set to mono and TV emulation mode to make it sound as close to the real thing as possible.
***** Thanks for the explanation.
And thanks for uploading it.
Sounds used are very similar to those found in Amaurote's tunes, both are truely brilliant.
Amazing Speccy.
+Admiral Ackbar It's not quite the same sound chip. The Spectrum has an AY-3-8912, the Atari ST has a YM2149F. They are similar but not identical - the volume envelopes on the YM are faster. Also, they are clocked at different speeds, which is why the Spectrum version is in a lower key.
It's the real sound of a Spectrum, yes, even through an emulator. I remember this tune (and many others) too well! :)
Interested, where is David now? does he write any music any more?
What was the bug, after all? I've hard this game music all my life and... Never knew it. :)
Maybe the only time ive heard the speccy come close to c64 music .. and in this case for me beats the c64 version oddly
i haved this game, an original tape in original case, but i remember very clear, this game haven't AY music. i don't understand
Did you play this on a 48k Spectrum? 48k Spectrum's don't have the sound chip required to play back this kind of music.
Играл на черно белом телевизоре) сложная, зараза. смог дойти до конца только с помощью кода на бессмертие, когда появился Спектрум с кнопкой ,,прерывание работы процессора,,
This reminds me of the tune for Archipelagos.
The ST version is all I could find at descent quality: ua-cam.com/video/4BSE2bLFMho/v-deo.html
Ахуительная игра !
Музика нагадує музику з Cybernoid2
Is this Bri'ish Chiptunes?
