I ordered a 70's Vintera ii that sounded killer, but the pickups were jusst so anemic. Are all strat single coils so weak these days? Wish I had'nt sold my '79... Great playing.
Sold my American Original 60s to get this one... cuz, you know... clay dots and Spaghetti logo. Really love the neck shape though. Even had my Revstar neck reshaped to this shape.
@@predigrthey don t remove it from the rosewood fingerboard... i think they don t tape the fretboard well and when they spray the maple part of the neck the laquer is sprayed on the rosewood also
They have a number of differences. Your hands will note it because the radius (7,25 vs 10 to 14) and finish (glossy vs satin). Just that is a huge difference for your hand. Adjusting the guitar would be harder in the 61 due to the neck radius, so bendings can fret if you don't do a genius work. Ultras came with blocking tunners and a curved neck heel. Another big difference are pickups, ultras came with noiseless that avoid hum noise while keeping the straty sound well. They sound sweet. Anyway, the 61 has that 7,25 neck radius that can facilitate some style of playing like chords. The shape may result more natural that flatter radius necks. Nowadays all fenders come with 9,25 minum radius, and only custom shops come with 7,25. So this Vintage II is definetely a thing to consider because it is like an ultra: a very special guitar. The conclusion is you need both.
Fender says it is a “remarkably accurate take on the revolutionary designs.” It’s not intended to be a perfect recreation. It still has some modern functional updates, as in the 5-way switch.
This is a manufactured guitar intended to sell to as many people as possible. Delivering a 3 way switch would be shoting themselves on their foots, casue I guess 99% of buyers would hate that decision. Pos 2 and 4 have become "the strato" sound for many.

I just bought one from Zzouds, but forgot to use your inforcial link. WHOOPS🤣
Sold my American Original 60s to get this one... cuz, you know... clay dots and Spaghetti logo.
Really love the neck shape though. Even had my Revstar neck reshaped to this shape.
I would say I prefer clay dots as well. But I keep both in Olympic White. Similar but different beasts.
I absolutely want this. Fiesta red, but ill have any color on it. Want more than anything else. Those clay dots. Mmboy. Love the channel.
Same! I want that white one!
I ordered mine today. In Fiesta Red!
Sold 2 MiM ones and an Orange Head i did not use anymore just to get this one!
@@lucasg4624 that’s awesome! I’m jealous. Tell us what you think of it when it arrives if you don’t mind!
I have the fiesta red model & I think it’s underrated 👍🏻
@@mattc1704 that’s it! I’m gonna do it. Going with the white.. hope them guys ship a good en.
I love mine. Really glad I got it last year before they jacked the price up by like $150😂
Really good playing. Nice sounds.
Big Muff sounds wicked! RAWK!
Thanks for a great review John, that’s the real deal Stratocaster. It’s on my bucket list.
Did I miss the review on that black tele or is that upcoming!?!?!?!
Ohhh that's coming up! What a great guitar! Thanks for watching
Any issues with this fretting out?
Hey John, I would love to see a review of the new & improved Peavey Signature Vandenberg!
This or the Olympic White American Pro ii strat?
Is that orange drop capacitor oem? I thought that era had the “phonebook” style caps?
I’ve head a lot of QC issues with this specific one. Lacquer on the fretboard. Set up horrible , etc.
the lacquer think on the fretboard i guess it s a usual thing because i have 2 and both have that problem
@@johnbranch17 what happens with the lacquer

@@predigr yeah... i cleaned it myself with a razor, sand papper and steel wool :) sucks for the price
How does it compare to an Ultra?

If it’s supposed to be an authentic vintage recreation of a 1961 Stratocaster, why does it come with a 5 way switch? Are they stupid?
Fender says it is a “remarkably accurate take on the revolutionary designs.” It’s not intended to be a perfect recreation. It still has some modern functional updates, as in the 5-way switch.
Can you make a better one? 😊
Because most people would replace a three way switch by a five way one anyway.
This is a manufactured guitar intended to sell to as many people as possible. Delivering a 3 way switch would be shoting themselves on their foots, casue I guess 99% of buyers would hate that decision. Pos 2 and 4 have become "the strato" sound for many.
